They Called Me FIVE

Chapter 157 - Separated

LANCE

"Magnus where are they?" My blood is pumping at my ears.

Magnus fist clench. "I don't know." His voice hardens. "They separated us." He spat.

My body is trembling all over. My eyes traveled at his neck then to his chest. He had the same blue crystal shard sticking out of his chest. And blood pooled down to his torso. He noticed me paling.

"Magnu-" he raised his hands to stop me.

"I'm alright."

"But-"

"This is nothing. I won't die for this. It's the same with you right? Will you die just because an ugly glowing crystal is piercing your arm?"

I shake my head. He nods. "Thought so."

I push my body forward. And that made me almost black out. Too glad I was able to balance myself. To hell with the pain. I need to get out of here. I fold my fingers to the crystal and tugged. It won't budge. And each force I exert on taking it out...doubles the blinding pain.

Why would the Blue Man Faeries separate us? Was it because this is already their opportunity to kill us? Because the bracelet of Magnus is not working anymore? Because they knew we are weakened from the recent battles with the Fire hogs? Do they know? About Jesper and his family?

Are they supporting him? Are they working together? I snap my eye shut and take a deep breath. No. This won't do. I got to formulate a plan to get out of here.

Us being vulnerable under their piercing evil faces...they're clearly making light out of all of us.

Its true we are too lenient. We are too trustful - no we are too reliable of our power we're thinking nothing will happen to us. And they took advantage of that.

They arrive unexpectedly. Without warning. The ultra benefit of surprise...

Magnus ripped off a chug of crystal orb in the side. I also did what he did. The Blue Men are not moving. They continue watching us with mock expressions.

"Magnus how do we get out of here?" I watch a bead of sweat trickle down his forehead.

"Honestly, I don't know. I can't tell what these creatures are. They're not Imps. The size is too massive, the mana is too overwhelming. I've met a Dark Elf before and his mana is like a small balloon loosely pump of air compared to these sonic massive bomb manas." He crack his knuckles. I know he's frighten. I can tell by how his hair is standing up at his arms.

"But we'll try to take down these assholes down. You game for it Lance? Is your blessing kicking up for it?"

I channel my shadows to my hands. Nothing happened. I tried again. Still nothing. I groan in frustration and dig deeper. Something swells deep inside, starting from my forearm that smacks the gravity out of me.

Magnus studied me. I did not stop. I know I look like an idiot that keeps on drawing powers but.... There's really something inside me that repels my effort to draw it out.

"Stop it." Magnus finally said.

"No. I can go on. Another one. Another try." Magnus graze his hand to my crystal and I flinch in pain.

"See this thing? Its the thing they ingrained to keep us from using any kinds of blessing."

My ears is ringing. I tried to steady my eyes, steady my balance. Keep my eyes ingrained to Magnus's direction. The first I heard is a small whistling. Coming up from above.

The dark walls lit. In every pillar series of fire in a wood lit up, shedding light. Pathway. There's long corridors in our left and right. The Blue Man at the center, grin his wicked teeth at me.

I can see their faces now. And I'm instantly reminded of all those cartoon tv networks I watch. Whoever design them must have taken inspiration from these ugly monsters.

Magnus took out his cross swords and passed me one.

"What is this for?"

"For battle." He said. He's already on his fighting stance. His guard is up. And except for the creepy grinning faces staring down at us, I sense nothing dangerous.

Then again I have no blessing. And we're up against creatures with limitless supply of mana. I take a breather and turn my back to Magnus. I sense eyes drilling every inch of my skin in our left.

Magnus must have sense some in the right. We both stood up straight. Arms and sword at ready.

I was so immersed by the creatures looking at us from the dark, it did not occur to us to defend ourselves from the real enemies upfront.

We assumed they will always stay in their thrones. It was a mistake. The second thing I saw is a strange purple light. Beaming from the biggest Blue Man inside.

There was no time to react. Everything just happened in a blur. Its like someone has flip a switch of panic inside me. I can't even hear my own voice when I scream.

My mind can't even process how Magnus shove me to the floor, throwing me aside.

But my body reacted on its own. I can't remove the inkling feeling of Magnus dying for me. And I acted on impulse. I know he'll push me away. Then let himself got hit by the purple beam light.

I could not let that happened. I fasten my own hands on his waistband and pull him to the floor with me.

The sound of lightning crackling over walls and pillars erupted in my ears. I hear Magnus gasps.

He tried to squirm. Get himself back up. I wrapped my arms around his back.

"What are you -?"

My eyes is glued to the cruel Blue Man staring down at me. He made an effort of bending down from his throne. Probably to gawk and mock us, the little humans dancing at their feet for pleasure. For kill.

His lips twisted into a nasty grin. His razor sharp teeth gnash upper it almost reach his never batting eyes.

Instinctively, I reach out and touch my Mark. Not sure why. My other hand keeps Magnus on top of me in place.

Just to reassure myself he's still breathing. He's still with me. Seven, Jesper and Sam aren't. And I can't be calm for a moment, thinking where they are right now.

The Mark bonds us all together. It keep us connected. If our connection is severed... And Magnus is gone...

I can't imagine for a second what will happen after.
