Chapter 9: Sir, That’s Not How You Use a Bad Woman

——Those who harbor the tabooed and fallen shall be punished alike!

And Shanoa was still thinking, “I must have successfully established myself, right?” “The family will save money from now on, and our situation will improve.”

But before long, what awaited her was not a victory feast but the army of the Sanctuary of Laws, coming to arrest those who touched the forbidden and fell.

John reported to the Law Knights in horror:

“She is my father’s illegitimate daughter, with a gloomy character and deep schemes. I never thought she would secretly practice black magic. If it hadn’t been exposed this time, she might have come after us.”

The commoners, relieved of excessive taxes because of Shanoa, clung to rumors like a lifeline and wept to the Law Nuns:

“Children have been disappearing from time to time over the years, most likely used by her as sacrifices for black magic. Perhaps the demon beasts arose because of her, making life unbearable for the people, and now she even dares to pretend to be a demon-slaying hero!”

And so, Shanoa was escorted to the Dead Sea border, a place known as “the end of the world.”

Everything was so sudden, like a dream, unclear whether it was a good dream or a nightmare, only feeling absurd and laughable.

“My vacuum cleaner, do you have any household trash? I’ll take care of it for you~”

Chu Yan was strolling around again, leading a blob of slime, greeting the “female roommates” on the first and second floors.

Recycling waste is a bit difficult, but recycling monsters are doable.

These women had no topics to discuss with him yet, only nodding in greeting.

Then, a group of people burst in, asking brusquely for the whereabouts of Shanoa.

Despite being perplexed, Chu Yan pointed upstairs:

“She’s resting in the room above. If it’s important, please come back tomorrow.”

John didn’t care much, leading a couple of his lackeys upstairs without a word.

Soon, the sound of door-smashing came, and the noble young man shouted:

“Shanoa, come out of your room! The family has redeemed you. Everyone has been worried about you. When the Disciplinary Army came, we had no choice but to comply, or we would have been taken too.

This is your chance to legally clear your name. If you’re grateful, hurry up and clear out the monsters. We’ve found the real lair of those exotic beasts!

Hey! Don’t play dead. Can’t you hear my voice?”

If it weren’t for the exorbitant cost of clearing the monster’s lair, John wouldn’t have bothered coming all this way.

It’s not that he couldn’t afford an S-rank adventurer, but privately redeeming Shanoa was more cost-effective.

Seeing no response, John started shoulder-barging the door with a move like Iron Mountain Lean.

Hearing the commotion, Chu Yan frowned and went upstairs, warning:

“Shanoa is unwell; she’s still resting. Do you intend to intrude on someone’s private space?

There’s a saying, isn’t there? The wind may enter, the rain may enter, but the king cannot!”

John was indifferent. Having made a deal with Baron Pigo, he didn’t take Chu Yan’s warning seriously and laughed:

“I’ve already paid Baron Pigo to redeem Shanoa. She’s my property now!

Her room is my room; I’ve bought it!”

With that, John used his limited combat skills to charge and break open the door, glancing back at Chu Yan provocatively, stepping in to pull Shanoa out of her bedcovers and take her away.

The matter of clearing the monster’s lair was urgent!

If he delayed, his tax revenue for the year would be much less!

The series of noises had already awakened Shanoa. She frowned from under the bedcovers, not quite understanding the situation.

She was still pondering whether she was dreaming when she saw John approaching her.

But just as John was about to touch Shanoa, Chu Yan’s fist, ablaze with draconic fire, had already arrived!

Boom—

John’s face was scorched on one side, and he was sent flying out of the room, several teeth missing.

“Sorry, I forgot to tell you, this is my room too. For intruding on my private space, you’re ‘blessed’ now!”

Chapter 8: The Lord and the Knight’s Renewed Deal

“Shanoa, did you have a nightmare?”

Chu Yan pressed John into the body of the slime monster, restraining his movements, and then returned to the bedroom.

The slime monster in the wealthy district was subdued, and John wouldn’t die anytime soon; he would only continue to suffer from corrosive injuries.

By the way, Chu Yan also tortured those few henchmen, learning the real reason they had come looking for Shanoa.

—To save on the cost of hiring adventurers, and incidentally, John needed to establish his authority.

When Shanoa cleared the monster’s den, the credit would certainly go to John. For a noble heir, this was an event to establish prestige.

Recalling the brief outpouring of words from Shanoa when they first met, and the emotions he felt from her round, perky buttocks… injustice, anger, unwillingness, helplessness, self-mockery.

Chu Yan could somewhat imagine Shanoa’s past in her hometown.

Thanks to the laws of this world, which were relatively friendly towards non-extreme taboo breakers, merely exiling them to the border instead of outright annihilation by the forces of the Sanctuary of Laws.

Otherwise, Chu Yan would never have had the chance to meet her.

But no matter what, that woman who never used her power for evil, after wholeheartedly contributing to the peace of her hometown, was rewarded with a ridiculous betrayal.

And after a brief moment of clarity, Shanoa had come to understand the current situation.

She took the warm water Chu Yan handed her, took a sip, and said:

“It was like a nightmare, they said the City of Bliss could suppress the influence of dark magic… When I was woken up just now, I thought the nightmare had escaped from my mind.”

In her dreams, she repeatedly saw the scene where John handed over the “ancestral magic” to her, a treasure-level magic, oh how precious, that should have been the family accepting her as one of their own, right?

Then, in the next scene, it was John reporting in front of the people at the Sanctuary of Laws, his true nature revealed in full.

Such terrible dreams accompanied Shanoa on her journey to the Dead Sea border, with every sleep.

Just now, upon opening her eyes, John’s ugly face actually appeared in her field of vision.

Shanoa almost thought she hadn’t woken up, or that she got up the wrong way, but thankfully, Chu Yan punched that guy out the window.

From noble mtl dot come

“What do you plan to do now?”

Faced with Chu Yan’s question, Shanoa was about to speak when Chu Yan interrupted her, hastily saying:

“Let’s get one thing straight, no matter what your opinion is, as the lord, I won’t allow you to leave, it greatly affects my trial results!

And besides, John was dealing with Baron Pigo, and I haven’t received any money.”

You mean… if you really got the money, you might consider it, right?

Shanoa felt dejected, her gloomy thoughts heavy as a weight, pressing down so much that she couldn’t even muster a bitter smile, but she never showed her emotions to anyone.

For now, she just retorted:

“So you’re just letting me express my thoughts, but it’s just talk, not really considering them, right?”

Chu Yan sat on the bed, looking at the large hole in the window, and said:

“If you plan to refuse those people from your hometown and stay in the lord’s castle, then our opinions are the same, and it’s not impossible to adopt your view.

But if you’re foolish enough to think about breaking out and leaving, then I’ll have to persuade you otherwise.”
