Tou no Madoushi
Episode 28: Advanced Nobility, Appearing in the Factory
Renlil's factory, which supports the production activities of the Tower of the Magic Instructor, is still fully operational today.
Lynn and Theo had hit work in a corner of the factory.
"Is the packaging material going to make it?" Theo asks Lynn.
"Yeah, he said he'd be on elevator 13 soon enough."
"Okay. Looks like you can ship these guys by the due date somehow. Norma accomplished."
There are piles of stacked merchandise beside Lynn and Theo.
I have to ship this by tomorrow. The ship sails tomorrow at 5pm for the last flight. It takes 6 hours to carry this much merchandise from the tower to the ship, even if it takes less than an estimate. I have to ship out of this factory in the elevator by the end of the day, if possible, at least first thing tomorrow morning.
Lynn and Theo still work at the factory after enrolling in the college. Scholarships are offered for college tuition, but we have to work on our own for living expenses and rent.
After attending the college, the two lived a life of working in an after-school factory.
It was a busy day, but not all bad.
The two had been entrusted with more advanced tasks than before. My salary went up, albeit slightly.
Theo had come to be entrusted not only with simple labor but also with more advanced assembly work and even part of the management of the plant because of its competent work and the taking of metallurgical units.
It is now a splendid managerial position commanding five to ten subordinates. Lynn, as usual, wandered around him as Theo's assistant to assist him in his work.
"Step aside for a second. Step aside."
"Hey, don't push it."
The factory is surrounded by bustle. The narrow area and the humans crossed, and each fitted a workspace between the tracks of the trolley carrying the goods, scattered with canes, tools and parts of the goods, and there was no foot treadmill.
It seems like a battlefield even though it is constantly annoyed by mismatching spaces and parts.
Theo has also been dealing with people who are trying to dull this magic item for some time now.
"Hey, that's the magic prop we're using. Don't take it on your own."
"That's good. I'm in a hurry."
"Packaging materials will be here soon, too. Hit the approx."
"That shipment isn't until tomorrow, is it? You still have time. Let me use it here first."
Theo didn't back down. I knew that if I pulled back here, the magic guide I lent you wouldn't be back forever.
"How soon are you guys shipping?"
"... the day after tomorrow"
He answered honestly because he knew Theo couldn't get through with the lies.
"You guys have more time, don't you? Just get out of here."
The man who was causing Theo and his grudges leans back.
"Fuck, no alarm, no gap."
Says Theo, teasing his shoulder.
Everybody's in a hurry.
"It's a bad step. Prepare as many magic items as you need in advance. Trying to take it from people."
"Theo. I brought the packaging material -"
A little boy comes from beyond the tracks. He was coming this way pulling a trolley with packaging material with the force of a cane.
His name is Ketra. He's an honest, smart kid who immediately bought from Terriul's wand to Dale's, following Theo's advice. Theo also solicited to his own task force in anticipation of his wit.
"All right, I'll pack it."
Under Theo's direction, the apprentice magicians of the crew begin their work on the placement.
It is the task here to make the upper and lower quarters of the goods ready to be wrapped and shipped in iron plates.
Here's the order of the work.
1, Lay the iron plate on the table
2, Place products on top of each shelf
3, Wrap square and top in iron plate
4, weld the borders of each iron plate
Now I can wrap the product in an iron box.
All 1-3 can be done with a wand of mass. Use a magic item called 'Weldmist' for welding of 4.
"Weldmist" is a spray-shaped demon prop.
It is a substitute for a welding fog that is sprayed with magic.
For this reason, even apprentice magicians who have not yet learned metallurgical magic can easily weld metal.
I don't need the heat or pressure I normally need to weld so I don't have to worry about getting hurt.
Lynn helped herself work while checking that her men's apprentice demon mentors were working properly and efficiently and if there were any leaks in the welding.
In the meantime, Theo is trying to keep the other squads from creeping the tools.
"Lynn. Come here for a second"
Lynn stops at work and stops near Theo.
"Gaul's squad is after the demons."
Theo shrugs his jaw and shows.
When Lynn looks at Theo's indication, one of the Gaul squads does see Ketra working with a demon prop as a flicker.
"Tow me in."
Copy that.
Lynn ran out to Gaul.
"Hello, Gaul"
"Whoa. Lynn. What the hell?"
"It's a magic trick Ketra has right now, though. We'll still use that one after this. So you shouldn't take it on your own because Ketra finished what you're doing."
"I'm not gonna do that."
"Then I need to procure my own magic props ASAP. You also need magic props for Mr. Gaul's work. Somebody's got to go get it. We're not gonna make it."
"I know. Hey, Jarim."
Gaul arranges as Lynn says, even as he pounds his tongue. Lynn returns to her squad with a sigh.
(Jeez. Everybody likes to pull each other's legs)
Interrupting work from alerting other squads in this way was frequent.
(I wish the people up there would work for us so that we can all work together. What are you thinking)
They always receive instructions, deadlines, and quantity of norms.
When Lynn got back to Theo, the work was just a paragraph away. Theo will talk to you soon.
"Welcome back. What did he say about the Gaul one?
"I procured my own magic props. It doesn't seem like a problem for now."
I don't know.
Theo turns to another squad with Gaul. They're asking about this one too. Looks like we still need to be vigilant.
"Shall we go again?
"Fine, I'm not kidding. Because I'm staring at you. Get back to work."
Suddenly, in a remote place, something called Gashan sounded like a collapse.
"What?" Lynn turns to the sound in surprise.
"Looks like someone misoperated the carrier. Shit. He's still using Terriul's cane. Are you crazy?"
"Those are Beyalia's canes," said Ketra, who was beside Theo at some point.
"Beyalia? What's that?"
"It's a new product. You have a reputation for being cheap and lasting longer than Terriul's wand. It just seems like the outburst rate is higher instead..."
"What the hell. I can't wait to launch the next one. The Chamber of Commerce has changed hands, changed objects, and so on."
When Theo is complaining, he can now hear a deliberate voice coming from a different direction than earlier.
"I wonder what's going on"
"Did you mess with someone again?"
"No, you're not. Look over there. Senior aristocrat."
There was a bunch of people with crystal clasps on the red robe when Lynn looked at Theo's finger pointing. The clasp on the crystal is a testament to the high nobility. Lynn saw the first person outside Kruga with a crystal clasp.
It is leaning towards the entrance of the factory. Apparently he just came in. He who comes in first comes in later with Zorro. It was quite a large area.
Some of them are wearing black robes, perhaps accompanied by a master.
"Why is a senior aristocrat here..."
One of them speaks out when Lynn is wondering.
"Wow, what the hell is this place?"
"Sounds like a factory. I think I wore it during working hours."
"Heh. This is how it's going."
They reacted differently by putting their faces on the factory, looking intriguing, or showing no particular interest.
Voices have resonated well despite the fact that the place where Lynn is is a long way from them. The factory was strangely quiet.
