Tou no Madoushi

Episode 48 Reunion

Lynn could not be present at Ellios' funeral.

The truth is that I don't even know if a funeral has been held.

The tower is accustomed to saying that the funeral of a magician who died on 100 levels can only be performed by a magician who belongs to 100 levels.

In the tower the magician could not enter places beyond his hierarchy for any reason whatsoever, and everything was dominated by this principle and absolute.

When it comes to what Lynn can do, it's just to pray that someone stranger belonging to the 100 hierarchy is politely burying Ellios' body.

Ellios' artifacts returned through the Association of Magic Instructors.

It was addressed to Sheila and Agulu, but Lynn and I and this day just Theo were also present to receive it.

Even when it comes to artifacts, it is only a small daily necessity.

Clothing, furniture, pens, paperwork and other equipment.

There was nothing like representing Elios just what I had everywhere.

"This was all I had left in my room.

That's what the representatives of the association who have been handing over the artifacts have said.

Ellios was living in a room managed by the association.

He had been paying his rent properly on time for some time, but had been late for rent for weeks.

Soon the association stepped into Ellios' house, but the house was a mushroom shell. I tried searching for him, but I couldn't find him. I haven't even heard from Ellios that he moved in.

The association treated Elios as dead.

It meant that we didn't know where anything other than what was left in the room, that is, what he was wearing at the time of death.

Probably looted by the killer.

(You're lying... I can't believe this is the end of the line)

Lynn had a blurry view of Ellios' artifacts, but she didn't really get the feeling that he was dead.

"You're a total idiot."

Shardiff said.

Lynn tried to talk to Shardiff about Ellios in his skillful magic class. Because I wanted to sort out my feelings.

But Shardiff's answer was only to return and depress Lynn.

"The one you were talking about, Elios. I'm here sometimes. The one who misinterprets his strengths by being deceived by the college's atmosphere of equality. This is why the world doesn't know. Chip."

Shardiff spoke with his head bolted. Looks like I haven't had a bath in days. The leaflets are falling apart from my head.

"Can't we still beat the aristocracy in the civilian class?

"You bet. Think about it. The ones with aristocratic qualities have been educated by the Wizard's genius since they were very young. At that point, the first magic class on this tower has already opened up an unbridgeable difference from the civilian population."

Shardiff said it seemed uninteresting.

"The truth is. As an association or college, we should be able to gather only the aristocracy. Normally, civilians and slaves can't be enemies of the elite of the aristocratic class who have been educated in brilliance since an early age. Accepting students without paying attention to class is only pre-construction. In fact, the system is cleverly put in place to separate the path between the aristocratic and civilian classes, that is, to prevent the civilian classes from reaching the upper levels of the tower. This class is just one of them."

"Then why does the association bother to bring civilian and slave-class humans together in towers, and make them look as if they are equal? Is it to be used physically as a low-wage workforce like this class?

"There's that too. There is a shortage of low-wage workers, especially people who can use magic and be hired at low wages. But the real purpose is different."

"Real purpose?

"I'm here sometimes. There's a genius called Magimon. There's a true genius crawling up without even a handful of identities. That's what the towers are looking for."

Fairy magic class.

Teacher Cairon's elegant voice sounded as pale as ever in the classroom.

Lynn's eyes on him were different than before.

I used to admire you unconditionally just for being a teacher, but now I couldn't see anything that simple.

Lynn looked around the classroom.

Everyone is taking classes as normal.

To take credit, to graduate from college, to go to the higher levels of the tower.

Lynn suddenly seemed to have a different sight in the classroom.

I get the feeling that what I've taken for granted so far isn't.

(What? Why are they taking classes so normally? Don't you think it's strange? You don't question what you're doing?)

Lynn is starting to feel bad.

One day, Lynn went outside the tower soaking up her classes and the joint venture she was going with Sabo Theo.

Anyway, whatever. I wanted to get out of the tower.

Sheila and I bowl each other when we try to get Rayne to just dive into our clothes and get in the elevator.

"Mr. Sheila."

"Lynn, what's going on? Here. I'm not supposed to be in class right now."

"Hey... I just wanted to get out of the tower"

"Yes."

Sheila didn't ask deeply when she said that. I seemed to have guessed how Lynn felt just because of this short interaction.

She was really sharp in these places, good and gentle with attention to others.

"Take your time. You skip class every once in a while and you don't hit a bee."

"Yes, thank you"

Furyn noticed that she had a book about billing classes. Some of them were books on substance production.

"Sheila, that's..."

"Oh, this is it, because I found out that uncharged classes weren't enough to get to the 100 tiers"

"I knew you were going for 100 tiers."

"Yeah, I'm going for it. You're set to go for it. 'Cause something I'm not convinced of. I can't believe Ellios ended up like this. At least I won't stop until I get to Ellios' grave. Whatever you do, I'll get you there."

Sheila looked straight up to show her determination. Probably looking at Ellios' dead place.

"Mr. Sheila...... Excuse me. I wish I could help too... I can't think of anything right now."

"It's okay. You don't have to."

Sheila turned a gentle grin.

"Go outside the tower today. If you touch the outside air, you'll be able to refresh and organize your thoughts."

Lynn tried to get out in anticipation of sunny weather, but unfortunately it seemed after the rain.

The sky is more and more cloudy in gray, with water hoarding at the end of the road.

It didn't seem strange when I got out again.

The boulevard in Guingardo is as busy as ever with many people.

Lynn had left herself to walk in the midst of a whirlwind of the boulevard for a while, but after a while, she would be dazzled by the crowd.

I eventually decided to take a break off the boulevard.

Sit back on the steps in a quiet place with no people to calm down. When I looked up, there was a stone statue.

Statue of Gaelias.

(I did stop by here when I came to this city, Guingardo)

Lynn remembered when she came to this city.

It seemed like a long time ago.

The statue still poses to cast a spell with a tough face.

Lynn feels strange watching this statue.

"Hey. Gaelias. Why did you build such a tower? Mr. Ellios is dead because of you."

Lynn asked in a pale tone.

I never got an answer back, no matter what.

Lynn is becoming vain.

(Let's go home. I can't help being here. No matter how bad it is, I have nowhere to go but the tower)

Lynn sighs and tries to get up, but is suddenly called out to a groaning voice.

"Oh? That's unusual. I can't believe there's anybody here but me."

Turning to his voice, there was a girl in a white robe there.

"Are you sure...... Lynn? What are you doing here?"

"... Atrea"

Lynn watched Atrea pray at all costs.

I felt strange.

Just watching her pray calmed Lynn's mind as time seemed to flow slowly.

Lynn, who had had a dizzying day here for a while, had felt at peace for the first time in a long time.

When the prayer is over, Atrea turns to Lynn.

"Please wait. I'm sorry. I kind of let you hang out."

"Yeah. That's okay. That's it. I'm just looking at it on my own."

"So why are you here? Unless it's for this stone statue, there's no reason to come here."

"I... just wanted to get away from the tower. Why are you here?

"I've always decided to stop by on my way home from work."

"Business trip?"

"Yeah. I was on a business trip to the Kingdom of Wingard until yesterday. There are only demonic stones available there. It's called Targoni's Demon Stone, but you know what?

"... No, you don't."

"That's a lack of study. Targoni's Demon Stone..."

Atrea began to talk to Pelapella accumulate after complaining of phosphorus' lack of knowledge as before.

Lynn laughs unexpectedly. She was really no different from before. The fact reassures Lynn oddly.

(You really like magic)

"What's going on?

I see Lynn laughing and Atrea looks strange and asks.

"No, I didn't think it was any different."

"You've changed a little bit."

"I guess so."

"At least I became a college magician."

Atrea points to Lynn's red robe and shows it.

"I see. Maybe a little bit more progress than when I couldn't use any magic."

"You don't seem to float for it."

Lynn laughs like trouble.

"Actually... someone I know is dead.

Lynn leaned down.

Atrea is listening to nothing.

"I take care of the guy a lot and respect him... Yet he graduated and didn't work at all on the 100th floor of the tower. Until now, I thought I should do what the guy said and imitate it. But he's dead and I don't know anything anymore. What do I do now? Should we really aim for the upper level of the tower as it is? Does it make sense to go for the top of the tower in the first place?"

Lynn was strange to herself that she was honestly spitting out her feelings.

I knew it was an unfit topic to talk to someone I wasn't very close to, but somehow I was able to be honest about my thoughts about Atrea.

Maybe it's easy to return and talk because you're not close. Or maybe her mystical atmosphere was making it so.

"I thought I could fly out of my hometown and go somewhere else. But I don't know if I was really right to be here... I don't know what's right anymore. But there's nowhere else to go except here. I can't even leave until I've borrowed a scholarship in the first place and repaid my debt. I just have to do my best to take classes and graduate, as always. It's depressing to think about it."

"It's a watch. Show yourself."

Instead, Atrea casts a spell and makes a tattoo clock appear on her arm.

"Atrea?"

"We still have a little time to meet."

Atrea said after coming up with a few ideas.

"Lynn. Not even a game with me?

"Games?"

"Yeah, a magical game"

Atrea rises.

"You want to know the significance of going to the top of the tower, right? I'll show you. The magic used by the superior wizards of the tower."
