Chapter 289 - World 10.27

"Because I am the eye patch man,"

Xianyu's eyes bawled out with his jaw almost dropping. The scene repeated itself inside his mind like it was processing what he had just heard. He once again gazed and scanned the fine man standing in front of him.

Xianyu rubbed both of his eyes and was about to utter a word when a hand pulled his arms away from the bridge. The two figures hide behind the thick bushes of blueberries.

"Wh---" the male sealed Xianyu's lips by his palm, "Keep quiet," he whispered, which cause the male to observe his surroundings.

A group of royal guards walked by the bushes while they were chatting with each other and because Xianyu had sharp ears, he heard one. "The royal Prince wasn't in his chamber." It's when he slowly turned his head to the man covering his mouth. "Crap!" he cursed in his thoughts.

When they were all gone, Xianyu immediately pushed the male inches away from him. "Y-You! You are the Royal Prince, r-right?!" he exclaimed, pointing his index finger towards the male.

The male, who was busy brushing the leaves that got stuck in his head, paused. "Hmm.." he continued what he was doing and approached the male. "Come with me," he said as he extended his other hand.

Xianyu looked at him, then at his hand, then at him again. "How am I going to trust you if I don't know your name?" he complained. This time, he had scowled eyebrows.

The male stood up. His shadows covered the sitting Xianyu. He looked down and a cunning smile was drawn onto his cheeks. The wind flutters together with the falling leaves, it sways his long hair while the male from the grass is looking up at him. He put his arms inside his sleeves. "I am the second Prince, Yi-Lin," he stated.

"Yi-Lin…" Xianyu repeated his name inside his mind. He was trying to recall if he met someone with that name, but nothing came into his thoughts. "Wait," he also stood up, "Did you just say, second Prince?" he asked.

Yi-Lin grinned, "You are quick to catch," he turned around and lifted his head. He watched the thin clouds cover the noon sun. "Yes it is, I am the second Prince, son of the second emperor." he said.

If he said that he was the second, then there's probably a first. Is there any other Prince? How about the first emperor? These questions struck Xianyu in deep thoughts. If Yi-Lin was the eye patch man and he already admitted it, then it was his chance to interrogate him.

Since Xianyu was still silent, Yi-Lin pulls and drags him somewhere away from the Palace buildings. It was like a secret spot that was out from the range of the patrolling royal guards.

"Where are we?" He blurted out as soon as he grasped their situation.

"Come here!"

When Xianyu raised his head, he saw a shadow above waving at him. Yi-Lin was standing on a large and thick tree branch. His eyes meet the only tree in the area, a big trunk and shady leaves. Above it was a small hut, like a tree house.

"Hurry! Climb up!" Yi-Lin once again yelled down at him, but in a minimize voice.

Dumbfounded, Xianyu followed his orders and climbed up with all his strength. When he reached the thick branch, his legs suddenly trembled and was about to fall. Luckily, the Prince pulled him back. "Be careful," he said.

The two entered the mini door heading inside. Xianyu widened his eyes after seeing the enclosed walls and the glass roofs. It was so clear that you could gaze at the stars at night. His mouth formed a small 'o' in awe. "This is awesome," he mumbled.

"You like it?" Yi-Lin sat down and brushed the floor beside him. It made the other male surprised, seeing the Royal Prince sitting in a dirty place. Yi-Lin felt the piercing gaze, so he glanced at Xianyu and smiled. "It's okay," he said, like he already understood what he was thinking.

"I guess he was kind, after all," Xianyu mumbled to himself. He turned his gaze to the small window near his seat. A 'thud' sound made him flinch. He lowered his head and saw an old frame fall from the windowpane. He picked it up and brushed off the dust. When half of it was cleared, he saw two young males sitting beside each other. Both with a smile while holding a wooden sword.

"It's cute,right?"

Xianyu gazed at Yi-Lin. "Which one?" If the Prince was referring to the two kids in the picture, then he didn't know who was who.

Yi-Lin didn't reply. He instead opened the other window and let the warm rays of the noon sun touch his face. He spun around and sat on the windowpane. "Do you want to hear a story?" he asked.

Xianyu nodded in agreement.

The Prince smirked, then his face turned blank. "Long ago, in a very wealthy kingdom, there were two Princes, although they are not in the same blood, they were raised together by their loving parents. Of course, one of them always excelled in everything...He was the lucky one," Yi-Lin lowered his head and gazed down as he saw two rabbits playing on the grass, "That lucky one earned his prize and was sent to the imperial wars. There, he unleashed everything and led hundreds of soldiers,"

Xianyu tightened his grip on the frame. "It's familiar," he mumbled.

Yi-Lin continued, "Do you know what happened at the Palace when he was away?" he asked but didn't wait for an answer. "Their parents quarreled about passing the throne to him.." he clenched his fist, "Yes, he excelled in everything, but that Prince wasn't normal."

"Ehh?" Xianyu got intrigued by the last sentence. "What do you mean?"

Right when Yi-Lin turned back his gaze to Xianyu, a big hawk attacked the rabbit he was watching earlier. The small birds in the tree got scared and flew away all together. The blood spurted on the green grass as the rabbit breathed its last air.

A mischievous smirk parted Yi-Lin's lips. "Because he was a demon…" he uttered.
