Traveling through the game world, starting out as a third-rate villain
Chapter 47 Archery Club
"Do you have any questions?" Professor Williams asked, glancing at the slightly uneasy students who seemed to be fidgeting after the end of the class. "If not, then that's it for today."
There was a burst of relieved murmurs and soft sighs in the classroom.
"Huh...it's finally over..." someone muttered in the back row, and this sentence expressed the thoughts of most people.
“I thought this class would never end,” another voice echoed, reflecting the general consensus of the students.
The students exchanged knowing glances and sympathetic smiles, and the professor returned his attention to the podium. His expression remained calm as he continued to speak to the class:
"Before you leave, a reminder: the second assignment has been uploaded to the academy website. It is a research assignment focusing on the political intrigue of the Hunted Realms during the Shattered Throne era. Be sure to choose your topic wisely and submit your assignment by the end of next week."
This notice elicited various reactions from students. Some sighed, some nodded helplessly, and some looked worried.
"Another research assignment? Are you kidding me?"
"I can barely cope with the reading material, and now you have to add this?"
"Hopefully he'll go easy on the scoring this time."
Professor Williams' tone did not change at all because of the students' complaints. "Understanding the political landscape of the past can provide us with important insights to help us understand the dynamics that shape the world today. Remember, the more you understand history, the better you can predict the challenges of the future. That's all for today. Have a great weekend everyone."
After saying this, he left the classroom, leaving the students alone. Today is the last day of classes for this week, and next I have to attend the archery club's orientation party.
"It shouldn't take too long. But if I can meet Coach Joey, maybe I can ask him for some tips," I thought to myself.
I accepted his invitation in order to learn and observe how the members of the archery club used bows and arrows and to incorporate their techniques into my own style.
Looking towards the front row, I noticed Alice was also leaving. I wasn't sure, but she might be a member of the archery club, too.
"Hey, where are you going?" Julia asked when she saw Alice packing her things. She usually asked this question, but today she seemed a little anxious.
"There's a club welcome party tonight, and I need to go get ready." Alice replied in her usual cold tone.
"Oh, I see. You're in the archery club, right?" Julia asked. She seemed to have forgotten which club Alice joined, or more likely she didn't care much.
"Yes."
"I don't understand. Why did you join that club? You don't have anything to learn anymore, do you?" Irina interrupted, looking at Alice. For example, she was a wizard, but she didn't join the magic research club, even though she was invited. She knew those researchers just wanted to get close to her, and their level was far inferior to her family's research.
"You can always learn something from others," Alice replied calmly, packing her things with a focused look.
Julia looked interested. "Is that why you joined the archery club? You must be pretty good at it." She herself was a member of the kendo club, but she had joined to spar with the seniors; she didn't think the members had much to teach her.
Alice shrugged, her movements precise and methodical. "The ceiling is never a reason to stop learning. There is always room for improvement," she replied.
"Oh... That's why this girl is not the heroine in the game." Morse thought. As a player who has played the game many times, the one he respects most is Alice, a girl who has never lost her way in her life. Although she is a little conceited and sometimes looks down on others, she has always been pursuing progress.
Her dual personality is exactly why players call her a "hypocritical woman", but Morse admires her. In a sense, she is one of those women who prioritizes her career.
Irina raised an eyebrow. "So, you're saying you went there to learn from the other members?"
A faint, mysterious smile played on Alice's lips. "I mean, I'm there to learn from everyone. You never know where knowledge will come from. And, I don't have to be there all the time. And they can't say anything to me."
As these words echoed in the air, Alice quickly packed up her things and stood up gracefully, her posture still calm. "Have a nice weekend." After saying these words, Alice left.
"Why do I always feel that I can never beat her in terms of language?" Irina said as she watched Alice leave.
"Well, she's always like this." Victor said in his usual calm tone, and then turned to Julia. "Julia, do you want to come to dinner?" he asked.
"No, I'm going to train." Julia refused directly, and stood up to pack her things. "And don't even think about following me." She interrupted Victor's mouth and left immediately.
"It's time for me to go, too." It was enough to confirm that Alice had joined the archery club, so I didn't waste any more time and stood up and left the classroom.
“Puchi…hahahaha…”
"What are you laughing at? Tsk."
However, I could still hear Victor grumbling about Lucas and Ethan, who were clearly the source of his anger. It looked like he was out of luck this time.
As I was leaving, I felt several eyes on me again, but this time there were three of them. It seemed that as time went on, more and more people were staring at me.
'Irina, Sylvie's friend, and that guy.'
Just as my mind was occupied with these observations, a sudden collision brought me back to my senses.
Whoosh—Bang
If I hadn't reacted quickly, the "collision" would have almost knocked me off my feet. I turned my head to look at the person who had bumped into me, and at the same time, a fresh scent of lilies filled my nose.
"Watch out when you walk!" When I heard the girl's voice and saw her beautiful face with an angry expression, I immediately remembered who she was.
Green hair and fiery red eyes.
'Alice.'
It seemed that she had left something in the classroom. Although she was furious with me, I had no reason to say anything more to her.
He dusted off his uniform and continued walking, not bothering to respond.
"Hey, I said—"
"Don't talk to me."
Before she could finish her words, I interrupted her and walked away. There was no need to say more because I could already guess what was going to happen next.
She just scolded me like she always did to other people in the guild, and then walked away like a goddess. After all, that's how she treated others most of the time.
Although Alice is a person who pursues progress, this is her weakness - arrogance. This is also one of the reasons why the player community does not like her very much.
I don't like this either. While her drive for progress is commendable, her ego prevents her from being a heroine, and it's probably why she ends up alone.
However, I wasn't much better.
With that, I returned to my room to prepare for club activities.
......
The archery club's training ground and the place where they train are located in an outdoor area specially set up for archers. It is far from the core area of the college's main campus - where most of the main buildings are concentrated, so it takes a while to get there.
When I entered the archery club’s training grounds, I was greeted by a scene that reflected the club’s unique pride. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the academy, this secluded sanctuary exudes a unique atmosphere.
The training grounds are a harmonious setting designed by nature. Tall trees form a protective canopy, with dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves.
At the center of this tranquil setting stands a large wooden building - the indoor training hall. Its quaint exterior hints at the long hours of hard practice that take place within those walls.
Obviously, the design here is inspired by the style of the elves that invaded this world, but it also incorporates human modern elements, showing a unique contrast.
The target for outdoor training is a carefully built shooting range, which is the embodiment of the club's unremitting pursuit and an archery venue that strives for excellence.
A variety of targets are carefully placed at different distances, some are stationary, and some move along complex trajectories.
Although there seemed to be a lot to explore, I didn't go further as the club members gathered in the open area of the club grounds.
trembling-
Suddenly, my body trembled involuntarily and a chill came over me.
"Tsk. Lately, it seems like everyone enjoys giving people piercing looks," I muttered.
Feeling a piercing gaze that was stronger than before, I turned to look at the source. Sure enough, it was Alice again, staring at me.
Unlike Irina, Alice's eyes didn't seem to be glaring at me, but my intuition told me that this was more dangerous. Her slightly calm eyes gave people a sense of subtle threat.
'It doesn't matter.'
Some may ask, why am I so cold towards these people with great power and background?
The answer is simple, I don't care.
Even if they ruin my future career by pressuring me, I don’t plan to become a famous hunter in the future.
That kind of life was never meant for me.
Moreover, such people are arrogant and picky by nature. Unless you are willing to bow your head and lick her, they will always make trouble for you no matter what your attitude is.
Just as I was thinking about this, I felt two powerful auras approaching.
In front of the crowd, two people deliberately released their aura and looked at the new members.
The president of the society, Adrian Casti, stood tall with an air of authority.
His voice rang out with confidence, "Archery is more than a skill; it is an art, a display of precision and grace. We carry on the legacy of the finest archers in history, and welcome those who believe they can embark on this noble path."
I knew a little bit about him because I had seen him in the game.
He is an extremely competitive person, and his only goal is to become the next "Bow Emperor" and take over the title from the current incumbent.
This young man with a stern expression was the tallest among all the people present. He had dazzling silver hair, a perfect standing posture, and his blue eyes glanced at the assembled students with a hint of arrogance.
'What a shame, your competitive spirit is so challenged,' I thought to myself.
As someone whose goal conflicted with the girl who had just "stabbed" me with her eyes, in the end, there was a fierce competition between them.
And he will lose everything, his title, his reputation, and his social life. Because under his cold exterior, he is an arrogant guy. He looks down on others and uses his family's reputation and resources to threaten others.
A man who thinks he is of noble blood, an elitist like Victor.
His eyes stayed on Alice for a second, then turned to the girl who stepped forward. But I could see a dirty desire in his eyes; even Alice seemed to notice it, because her body tensed slightly.
Standing next to Adrian was a young girl with long black hair draped over her shoulders and an elegant posture. There was a hint of arrogance in her eyes as she looked at the assembled students. "I'm Elera, the vice president of the Archery Club," she announced, her voice silky yet commanding.
"As the president said, our goal is to be the best. If you don't want to compete, you can leave now."
This girl will later become Alice's best helper and replace her as the heroine - Elara Holden.
As everything was settled, the club activities officially began.
