Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray

Episode 59: The Meaning of Shefki

Time goes back to the morning of December 21st.

Shefki Sommeryoki, the head of the Devil's Army's Little Ghost tribe unit, regretted the reckless actions of himself, who had been imprisoned without being able to harm himself, and who had gone on reconnaissance himself.

He remembered when he was caught, with multiple straps and even more monkey bites.

(Captured were Darvé and Lauri or... were all the others killed... but I didn't think the rumored “White Mage” was that young. And I didn't know you were such a dangerous man...... I can better understand what Lord Varma was warning you about now. The magic arm is horrible, but that intelligence is a threat to us. This time too, probably, but it was a trap to capture us...)

And I was turning my thoughts on how to break this situation.

(It is impossible to escape in this situation. At least I wish there was a way to confuse the enemy, but I can't even think of that......)

As he looked at the two men tied to the side, he thought he had to look at the gaps and harm himself.

(The only path left is self-harm. I wish I could hurt myself before that (...) technique is activated after being hung up by torture...... I heard that technique is pretty painful. Anyway, if it's just me, I don't want to see these young guys like that...)

Sometimes he was being monkeyed, and he contemplated reducing his own life by eating constantly. And the men also decided to choose their own death in the same way that they found out what he thought.

The 21st of December, without being tortured, is interrogated only, but they did not speak a word as hard as they could. The enemy interrogator was puzzled that there was no hitter in the condition.

He thinks it would be nice if he died on an empty stomach, but the body of a highly viable ghost tribe had no effect at all on the day or on the fasting there.

The following twenty-second day of December.

The day before, the three of them were interrogated together, but today one seemed to interrogate at a time, and Derve was taken.

After about thirty minutes, Shefki is then taken out. He thought Darvé, who had been taken out earlier, could not stand the torture and the technique was activated and died.

(Derve's dead... it's my turn next. Now, how much do you suffer...)

He walked adultly with the kind of face he had objectified.

Then he entered the room for interrogation and was stunned to see Darvé sitting quietly.

(What do you mean! Why is Derve alive? Why is the rope untied?... what's going on...)

But soon I knew why.

The rope that binds him is loosened and the clothes he was wearing are taken off rampantly. And because where he was dew on his back, a white mage received a puppet's magic prop from one elf.

(Can you use puppet magic... that should only be used by demons - the general names of the Moon Demons and Winged Demons, and the Demons with wings on their backs - the magicians. That's also only for high-ranking spellmen like Lord Varma......)

He saw the magic prop and despaired.

The technique applied to Derve was not as powerful as the technique of a pledge to prevent betrayal imposed on me. That's why Darwe couldn't resist the puppet's magic.

And at the same time, I realized my destiny.

The art of pledge hung on me is also valid for the magic of the puppet, which is the magic of darkness, that the moment the magic is hung, the soul will be broken.

A white magician shoved a puppet's magic prop on his back.

(Now I die. But Darvé was made a puppet of a white magician. Lauri would be destined for the same...... sorry, Darvé, Lauri. Your souls have been molested... Sorry, Orvo - his ally, Olvo Kronvar of the Great Ghost Nation. My mess has led to the loss of information about my species. I regret I can't tell you that...)

He gave up his resistance and decided to accept death.

The pain struck him like a needle piercing him from a demonic prop placed on his back, turning him into a pain that was stirred around his chest with a thin, pointed stick.

Betting on his own pride, he screams and bites the ape hard. But soon it turned into a gritty, soul-shredding, intense pain, groaning in the monkeys.

The pain suddenly disappeared. Looks like the sorcerer gave up his magic and was watching him.

(I wonder how many times I have to endure this pain. I almost screamed for you to kill me... so this means I can break into battle. But the brethren will surely prevail. I'm supposed to be the only one in this pain...)

He is then returned to his original room, but his men Darvé and Lauri did not return.

He was just thinking about that young white magician as he was rolled on the floor.

(The fact that you can use puppet magic may even allow you to lift your vows. If that happens, I may divulge military secrets. If you don't die by now, it will be irrevocable...)

He feared that the confidential information he had would be divulged to his enemies.

He was a dark magician and a summoner to his family (Goblin).

He knows how to produce and manipulate a family of little ghosts, goblins. I swear to my heart that we must prevent this information from being known to our enemies at all costs.

He first decided to alert the two men watching him.

As he rolled to the floor for it, he began to weep unnecessarily and whimper.

And he quietly lost his strength as he slept, thinking of fighting back at the next time he was called in. Neither does he think that he can beat a man with a weapon when his hands are tied up and he is monkeyed.

By attacking him ready to die, the enemy panicked, expecting him to pull out his sword.

And the opportunity came right away.

Thirty minutes after I pretend to sleep, the door to the room locking him up makes a giggly noise and opens. He was carefully probing for signs of a man approaching him.

Having already taken him out of the room many times, the man tried unconstitutionally to pull the hip strap on his hips.

Shefki was waiting for the moment.

He uses his small but tough hip rotation to pay off a man's legs and make him fall.

The man watching at the entrance marvels at it, pulling out his sword and standing guard.

Shefki uses his spinal strength to get up and jump, and in a teasing momentum, he pushes into the entrance.

The man standing at the entrance watched Shefki move, but considered Shefki's movement agile and difficult to capture intact. The man poked his sword out at his thighs so he wouldn't kill Shefki.

That was what Shefki wanted.

He hangs on the sword and jumps out of his chest.

The man was surprised by Shefki's unexpected behavior and had his sword poked reflexively. My body reacted voluntarily when I came to take my sword.

As Shefki thought, a sword pierces near his heart. He was satisfied that in the short time leading up to his death, he had defeated the information.

And when he fell to the floor, what the man who stabbed him saw was the satisfactorily smiling face of a man named Shefki Sommelyoki.

It was not until shortly after that that that Shefki was told of his death under Ray.

At that time, Ray and Raspade were just discussing the technique hung by Shefki and discussing whether there was any way to disarm it.

After being stunned by the fact, Raspade vehemently disputes the untimeliness of the Intelligence Division.

"He was an important man with valuable information! You call yourselves the Information Division, but you don't understand that!

After yelling so, I kneel on the floor without force.

"You, Arklight, would have lifted the spell that he hung on you. Then you may have found out about the magic theory of the Demons, the summoning of their families..."

Ray relieved himself without having to hang any more puppet magic, but he wondered what it was like to be a demonic secret that he tried to keep until he gave up his own life.

(The secret we have to keep so far... Nevertheless, for the Demons, life is so light. If you're enough to risk death to keep a secret, you don't have to attack me from the start. Are you saying the Demons are fanatics too...)

Ray went to report to Randall Ogburn, head of Periclitle's defense, that Shefki was dead and that he had been informed by the two little ghost tribes.

We'll catch Randall finishing the meeting with the guild chief and talk about the information Ray got.

Randall listened to the story and said, "The power of the war is no different from the previous information. But it's big that we know where the enemy is," he chuckles.

Ray nodded at it, too,

"We should send scouts immediately. If we can, we should split the best into three squads."

"Okay. Let's pull about ten people out of the people who train at Stella's. But I can tell the information is early and tomorrow night, no, the morning after tomorrow."

The east woods are deep and it takes a day just to travel 30 km. Even if you dispatched scouts of the night's effective manoeuvres of beasts and elves, it's pretty hard to come back by tomorrow.

Around 11 a.m. on December 22, Randall nominated Cat Beast Man Scouts (Scouts), Ladis, as the leader of the Scouts, and ordered ten skilled scouts to scout the East Forest.

Around 3 p.m. that day, Varma Niska of the Moon Demons was preparing for camp in the woods at the foot of the Porta Mountains, west of the Fatas River - the great river that flows from south to west of Periclitle. To rest two wing demons who are exhausted in the transport of the unfamiliar, but also because Luna, son of the moon, was severely fatigued.

Yesterday, he abducted Luna on the east side of Orton - a fortified city west of Periclitle - and has gone about seventy kilometers so far. The place I'm at right now was about 20 km south of Periclitle.

The escort is five harpies and three gray monkeys, Gray Ape, but Harpie has a bad night's eye and has to give up traveling at night. Due to the slow flying speed of the wing demons, it was only comforting that the gray apes going to the ground could follow without delay.

She was remembering what happened today.

(Still, I can't believe there's a dry ad forest... it hurt to have one harpy and three gray apes killed...)

Around noon that day, Luna complained of fatigue, so I decided to take a break, but there was trouble.

She decided to land by the little pond she stumbled upon.

But it was in the woods of dry ads - walking tree demons.

Varma and the others are surrounded by many walking trees (dry adds). Harpy's hook nails only scratch hard dry adds skin and do little damage. Gray Ape also attacked with powerful force, but was struck down by the sturdy branches of the enemy and gradually built a siege net.

Varma used the dark attribute magic she was good at and the fire attribute magic she hated dry ads to open her bloodpath and managed to escape the siege net. Fortunately, there was no harm done to myself, Luna, or the Wingman, only the sacrifice of Harpy and Gray Ape under his command, but still the loss of a handful of escorts was quite painful.

(At this rate, crossing the Aquila - the Great Mountains of the East - is suicidal. Orvo - Commander of the Demonic Army, Orvo Kronvar of the Great Ghost - we'll have to ask him to escort us...)

And around the evening of December 23rd the next day.

Varma, with Luna, arrived from the west of the guided Fatas River to the woods to the east of the hilly east, Thornbrough - a fortified city to the south of Periclitle.

But in the meantime, he continues to be attacked by demons, losing all of his gray monkeys (Gray Ape). Fortunately, there was no damage to Winged Demon and Harpy because there were no flying demons, but only two Winged Demons and five Harpies remained under her command.

(Only two more puppet needles. If Orvo doesn't give me an escort, I'll have to repair the Magic Formation of the Destroyed Wingman Summon. But that can be quite dangerous. I have some special ingredients for that...... maybe I should hunt griffons in Aquila......)

She had no one to talk to, and was quite depleted physically and mentally by her decreasing fighting power.

(Even if it takes time, maybe we should go to Orvo's... and see if we can get there if we can hang a cup tomorrow... no, we should hang a cup tomorrow and rendezvous. I can't get past Aquila like this...)

Luna was constantly checking the surrounding landscape as it was carried suspended by a wing demon.

I kept seeing if there was any landscape I had ever seen, or if I didn't recognize the shape of the mountain or the current of the Fatas River that I could see from time to time, trying to ascertain my position.

At the outset of his capture, he could not think of anything and was carried without any particular resistance, but thought of killing himself that night. But if I lost my life, I thought the attack on Periclitle would be quicker, and I began to wonder if there was anything I could do.

(From the position of the sun and the shape of the mountains, it's heading east along the Fatas River. Are you going to continue, beyond Aquila, to take us to Quaedham Tenebre - the eastern side of the Aquila Mountains, the land of the Demons? There is no indication that I skipped the preaching last night either, and so far, the information that I was captured should not have been passed on to the main team of the demon clan...... anyway, it is difficult to escape now, nor can my life be lost...)

She desperately remembers what Ray was saying.

(It was Saint's idea that you needed to take me to Kwaedham Tenebre alive. So if I die, the Demons will soon be attacked by Periclitle. All I can do now is let him put in frequent breaks and buy me some time...)

She said she was tired from an unfamiliar flight and had let her take many breaks in.

That was driving Varma's plan a lot crazy. Her plan was to reach the woods east of Thornbrough on December 22nd, and on the 23rd she was supposed to be communicating to Orvo the news of the Son of the Moon recapture. But in the end, it was on the evening of the 23rd that we arrived in the woods east of Thornbrough.

Furthermore, Luna demanded a longer break in one place, thus also giving demons living in the woods a chance to raid.

In order to protect the son of the moon, Varma was forced to defeat the escort's Gray Ape and escape in the meantime.

And the evening of the twenty-third.

He was told by Varma that he would join the Demonic Army tomorrow, and Luna was baffled.

(The place now should be east of Thornbrough... something that looks exactly like the shape of the Aquila mountain from the village of Thysek, where I was born and raised, you can't go wrong. But I wonder what more could I do... if I joined the Demon Army, what would happen to the city of Periclitle? When it comes to the Saint, if you find out I've been captured, the Demons should attack Periclitle. All I can do now is buy time. But that's close to the limit too...)

Luna looks out at the night sky and starts thinking about what she can do for herself.

(So far, I seem to be a necessary person for Varma (her). I meant pretty much everything I said, but I didn't blame you in particular. If so, my safety should be ensured... I wonder if there are any other hands I can hit...)

Time goes back to the night of December 21st.

Hazels, who lost party member Luna, were in a village along the street.

The lodging was filled with refugees and the situation was such that we could not even secure the lodging tonight. But as time stood, the two of Ryan, who had been deprived of Hazel, who had been made into a puppet, and Luna, had only fewer words and obeyed the words of a swordsman fan of the Beast.

The fans succeeded in renting a barn by looking for an inn tonight and finding a private house that would host the refugees, encouraging the two of them to be apathetic.

Fans buy food and booze from nearby taverns, but neither Hazel nor Ryan keep their shoulders down disappointingly and don't try to get their hands on it.

The fan got ridiculous of himself talking to one person, and he shut up too.

The cold wind of December falls out between the three silent people.

Hazel was small and muttered, "I don't know what to do.

But there was nothing to answer that word, and her whining disappeared into the cold sky with the wind.

Ryan was self-loathing for his own impudence.

(I couldn't do anything. All I did back then was expect Ray to. That's all I could expect from the guy who told Boroxo...)

He was thinking about what lay ahead and feeling darkened.

(Luna was grabbed. If Ray is right, I guess he'll be taken to Kwaedam Tenebre. Thousands of kilometers away. What am I supposed to do...)

He told Hazel and his fans, "What am I supposed to do now? I hear," but I don't get an answer from the two of you. He didn't expect an answer either, without asking back, and he shut up.

Fans opened their mouths about how they couldn't stand the air like that.

"I can't help thinking about Luna right now. It's not Ray's idea, but there's no way we can catch up."

Ryan tries to say it back reflexively to the word, but the fans keep it under control with their eyes and keep talking.

"I hate to say it, but this is true. Whether we stand upside down or not, Luna can't get it back. We're adventurers. Losing a buddy is a routine tea thing, and I should have been ready. Whatever Ryan's still shallow, Hazel, you're out of line. You're the leader of this party."

Hazel stared at the fan with an unfocused eye and said, "Well... Luna's not coming home. With my mistake......" he muttered and silenced again.

The fan turned to Ryan and said, "What are you going to do?," he asked.

Ryan replies, "I'm going looking for Luna," but when fans ask me how I'm going to look for her, I get silent.

"I'm going back to Periclitle," the fans said, sighing at how they were both doing. The two of you look at the fans, but you don't say anything.

"I regret Luna, too. So let the Demon Clan put a drop on it. I'm sure it'll help me a lot if I go, but I still have to reward the Demons."

Ryan stands up for the word "I'm going too".

A dark flame of vengeance was burning in his eyes.

"I'm going to smash up one of those guys who grabbed Luna. If you crush them, hit Kwaedam Tenebre..."

Hazel blocked the word and said, "It won't change if you guys go. He's an enemy who can do that," he shakes his head.

Fans show frustration when they say, "I know, that's what happened."

In the end, no conclusions were drawn about Hazel's actions, and it was only decided that the two fans and Ryan would return to Periclitle.

December 22nd the following day.

Hazel, who couldn't sleep last night, still couldn't decide what she was going to do.

(I'm a healer. It would help if we went to Periclitle. But something called the Demon Clan is horrible. While I didn't remember that, I was gone with me. I don't want to have that experience again...... but I also have responsibilities for Luna. The responsibility for keeping her... at least I should go back to Periclitle. Because my carelessness opens the edge of battle fast)

Hazel began to prepare to leave under the whitening sky.

And on the evening of December 22nd, the three returned to Periclitle.
