Tria Calendar 3026, around 11 a.m. on January 18.

The mercenaries of the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms), led by Hamish Markat, were heading south without resting in the snowy mountains.

Behind them is the elite of the Great Haunted Clan, about a hundred warriors, who are desperately moving forward with their feet taken by the snow. But even the trained ones had already reached their peak of fatigue and their steps had slowed down gradually.

At the rear end of the Red Arms was Ashley Markat, who was encouraging his people while worrying about the rear.

"We've got enemies looming right behind us! Ray's got to be putting up a stalling trap ahead of us! Almost there! Just a little more patience!

At the end of the line was Squad Five. Its captain, Valeria Markat - Hamish's wife, married at the end of October of the previous year - will also change from her usual tone to one on the battlefield, driving her men.

"Don't make weak noises in here! Enough more, enough more to die and move on!

Among the Red Arms, the fifth squad faces a relatively large number of young mercenaries, with overall low levels. For this reason, physically, we are close to the limit, and even with the words of Ashley and Valeria, we cannot respond to it, and we can only hear rough breaths.

But they also had their pride as part of the Markat Mercenary Corps (Red Arms), known for its rigorous training. It was not possible to raise his voice, but without anyone making a weak sound, he silently put his heavy legs forward.

Ray Arklight had followed Stella and Diez the Beast Slave and was rising above the valley where the Red Arms proceeded. And beneath his eyes was a line of Red Arms rushing ahead, suffering from deep snow.

I still don't see the rear-end 5th squad, but I know it will show up soon.

(I think I'll manage to make it. Now, get ready to start an avalanche...)

He began to wrap the rope around his own body when he took it out of the item box.

"Stella and Mr. Dies need to support me at the top of the ridge. I'll be ready to start an avalanche here, but I don't know if I can afford to escape."

Stella looks sad at the words, but she didn't say anything when she saw Ray's expression cementing her determination.

They held a rope and headed to the top of the ridge. When it rises about thirty m, it grows conifers like yarn fir, wrapping ropes around the tree and waiting.

Ray immediately activated the magic without moving his gaze toward both of them.

"Supporting all the earth, God of the earth (Reams). Give me a spear that strengthens the power of your family, the Spirit of the earth, and pierces the heavens. I do not give my life to you. Pierce the earth's spear!"

At the end of the spell, he wraps his arms around the snow as he walks. Then pointed rocks about twenty cm in diameter protruded out of the snow one after the other.

It appeared at 1-m intervals around the centre of the slope, as if it were a strut to build a fence.

(An avalanche would have woken up if the layer of snow had broken. Well, I'm not sure, but if you do it like a cutting line, it should slide off layer by layer due to the weight of the snow. If you can't, shock...)

He sliced into the layer of snow with the magic of the earth's spear (Rockspear) and thought of sliding off the steep slopes with the weight of the snow.

But Lockspear's magic had a range as short as five meters, and activating magic while walking could not get him out from the edge of the slope to the edge. He had no choice but to make the rock columns appear only in the central part, and eventually fifty rock columns appear on the slopes.

By the time I finished putting out the lockspear, I finally saw the rear-end 5th squad. Unlike earlier, they were running with their bodies heavily moving and snow smoke up. If I could see their faces, I would have seen them running in desperate shapes.

(Enemy imminent?... No, now we should focus on having an avalanche...)

He decides so to his heart and observes the snow beneath his feet.

All the rock columns appeared, but I can't feel any signs of an avalanche.

In the meantime, the Fifth Squad is approached by the Great Ghosts with huge bodies. They were still running somewhere affected by the avalanche, and Ray had to watch as he felt any worse.

(That's awkward. They're going to catch up soon. If you're going to bury the Great Ghosts alive, it's supposed to be about time, but how fast is the avalanche? You can't involve the Ashes...)

From under the snow, while he was cruising, he began to hear a low noise like a grunt of goggles. I'm amazed at the sound of it, and when I look at the slopes of the snow, I get a slow rip between the pillars of the rock.

(I think I can get an avalanche up somehow, but I don't know when it's going to fall... it doesn't make sense if it's too late... no, there's this way...)

Ray started casting a spell as soon as he went up the slope about ten meters.

"Ignis, God of Fire, God of Fire who burns everything down. Condens and give me that power. I will not give you the power of my life. Burst! Burst Flame (Explosion)!"

Gathering the power of the Spirit in about thirty seconds, he unleashed that power at once.

Shortly afterwards, a low, heavy sound of bong sounded and the slopes of snow unnaturally held up.

The Great Ghost Warrior, Nestri Kronvar, along with hundreds of his men, was tracking down his brother Orvo's revenge, the White Mage.

The Kronvar family was a famous family among the great ghosts, producing a number of chiefs to be elected by the council system.

Orvo, who was a Western dispatcher commander, was the most prominent candidate for the next chief, and his youngest brother, Nestri, worshipped such a brother.

He still couldn't believe the reports brought about by the Moon Demon spellman Varma Niska, the total extermination of the Western contingent and the death of Orvo. But as Varma put it, the army on the west side showed up on the way out, even beginning to think that was true.

(My brother lost... that can't be! There is no way my brother, who was the best warrior in Sochius, could be defeated by humans... but as Varma (that woman) said, they were here. Again, my brother... If so, I'm the only one taking revenge! Always take the white magician and show him...)

In Sokius - the name of the Demonic Nation - the Great Ghost Nation was at first sight from other tribes as a minority but the strongest warrior. The giant body creates comparable combat power to his family, Auga, and it is said that those who have advanced martial arts will defeat dragons alone.

Nestri, born into the famous family of that great ghost, is regarded as unsuitable for the commander because of his own, although brilliant in combat, character is even simpler. Most of all, he also knew he had no talent as a commander compared to his esteemed brother, and he always wanted to wave his arms under his brother.

This time, however, he reversed in Varma's report and swung out a halt to Einar Slangs, the warrior chief of the Little Ghost clan, the commander of the succeeding unit.

"Hurry! Don't let the enemy get away! Take revenge on your fellow countrymen! Hurry!"

The Great Ghost makes use of its body and pushes Snow Mountain at more than double the speed of the Medium Ghost and Little Ghost tribes. They also had excellent endurance, so they had already been traveling for nearly five hours without pinching a break.

Still, the colour of fatigue cannot be concealed, and those who breathe on their shoulders continue to do so, but now that they know of the death of their compatriots, there was no one to divulge their grievances.

It was after five in the morning that they marched out.

It's over an hour later than Varma expected, but there's a reason for that.

Because Einar tried to persuade Nestri to stop the rampage and decided it was impossible to persuade him further because it was decided to go out by the whole army.

Einar was anxious that the only real number of enemies was Varma's report. For this reason, Nestri and the other Great Ghosts decided that it was dangerous to launch on their own, and decided to strike out with maximum force. Tactically the right choice, but the upside-down Nestri didn't understand that.

(If I had to kill time, I'd have taken the white magician and his neck by now! That little ghost tribe (Einar) always does. I, no, I don't like the Big Ghosts lifting their handles... but it doesn't matter now. It kicks your enemies right away)

Six hours had already passed since the start of the pursuit and I had an intuition that we were quite close to the enemy.

"The enemy is close! In a few moments, we will take our fellow countrymen's revenge! Hurry!"

Nestri is so inspired in the central part of the unit.

The Great Ghost Warriors also somehow felt the signs of their enemies, responding with a roar to their voices.

And I finally saw the enemy.

"We had enemies! Proceed! Kick his enemies!

The soldiers at the rear of the enemy noticed the roar of the Great Ghost Clan and began to run through the snow. But the deep snow hasn't taken my feet as far as I'd like.

The enemy soldiers slowly entered the valley turning left. As a result, the figure disappeared from the eyes of the Great Ghosts. But no one cared.

We felt more like we were hunting than we were hunting because we could move faster in the snow lane and catch up if we had enough distance.

And they went into that valley, too.

Ray became anxious about the pursuit battle played under his eyes.

Still the tail of the Mercenaries (Red Arms) had not climbed from the valley to the ridge, because it did not take a few more minutes, and the Great Ghosts seemed to chase them into the valley one after the other.

(Will you make it... the Ashes are in danger if you fail here...)

Meanwhile, I can hear the creepy sound of gogo from the snow at his feet as well.

But the relatively solid snow never collapsed.

(No. After all, do I have to make you look this way...)

Ray flipped his bright white cloak prominently and shouted out loud.

"O Great Ghost Warriors!

Even though the voice was a snow-covered valley, it echoed as it struck the wooden spirit "Obsession," reaching the bottom of the valley.

"I'm a Marcut Mercenary Corps (Red Arms) warrior! You call me the White Mage, and I fear it, Ray Arklight!

Did you hear that word, the gaze of the great ghosts who were chasing the Fifth Squad going up simultaneously?

Ray tried to fool himself and get away with the Fifth Squad, which was likely to catch up.

The leading Grand Ghost Warrior went after the Fifth Squad or after Ray for a short while, but was lost. Because we were told by information from Varma that the white sorcerer was the enemy of his compatriots, and that if we took him away, he would be the number one in military service.

Ray follows the move further.

"You cowered! Orvo Kronvar has fought with dignity!

As soon as Orvo's name was given, a roaring order came from near the center of the Great Ghost Troop.

"Take him! My brother's revenge! Take over the white magician! Proceed!"

That was the order of Nestri, who left it to anger. But because most of the Great Ghost tribe felt the same way as him, he began to climb the slopes with crazy momentum towards Ray without pointing out the possibility of a trap for anyone.

At that time, the creepy sound of "gogo" heard from under the snow suddenly grew louder.

"Master Ray! Come on, over here! It's dangerous there!

Ray looked around at Stella's voice. At his feet there was a scrubbing sound of ice called gully, and the snow was slowly starting to move and cracks were starting to form.

I rush up about a few meters, but the snow at my feet collapses to be drawn to a crack, and I get my feet taken many times and I can't move on.

"Master Ray!

I heard Stella screaming and the rope pulled hard. My feet couldn't fully collapse and stand, but Stella and Diez manage to crawl along with the force they pull.

There's a low, heavy roar behind him, but I couldn't afford to look back.

"Thanks..."

Ray climbs onto the ridge and exhales a breath of relief, but in front of him was the figure of Stella and Diez who stood as relieved.

Ray also turned to be caught by it.

In his eyes only the bright white snow smoke blown up by the avalanche was visible.

(Did it work? What about Ash? Is Ash safe...)

Ashley, who was at the rear of the Fifth Squad, was turning his consciousness to the imminent Great Ghosts, but was surprised and shouting at the sound of the avalanche echoing from his left hand.

"Hurry up! We're gonna get involved! Get up to the ridge now!

Her orders were unnecessary. Because all the mercenaries in the Red Arms were aware of the avalanche and feared its impending white walls.

As I squeezed my last force and cut up the valley, a river of snow was formed that flowed by rolling white smoke up the rear of them about ten meters. Fine ice with cold winds strikes them, but never made them more popular.

"Did you help..."

Ashley's whining was scratched off by the still ongoing avalanche roar, but everyone was thinking the same thing.

Nestri Kronvar, general of the Great Ghost Nation, was running out himself after finding out that there was a brother's vendetta, a white magician, above the valley, who also gave orders similar to the anger.

Shortly afterwards, a slowly slipping chunk of snow caught my eye. It seemed to move slowly at first, so quiet that I thought it was an illusion of my eyes. They come toward us, crushing down a handful of trees, but they were illusory because there was not much to compare the sizes in a white monochrome world. But the avalanche gradually accelerates and starts making heavy, low noises.

Experienced warriors knew that was more dangerous than demons here in Aquila.

"Stand back! An avalanche is coming! Go back!"

Their screams are scratched off by the sound of a low, heavy avalanche.

The Great Ghosts forget that they are going to argue Ray, and they are desperate to retreat to escape the avalanche. But no matter how big the ghost tribe, there was no way to speed up an accelerated avalanche.

One of the warriors who was leading the way was swallowed up by a white wall.

He then swallows one after the other who desperately tries to climb the ridge and return to his original path.

None of those who were there would hear their screams come true. Because at that moment, only the sound of boom dominated the scene.

It didn't take that long until the avalanche subsided. However, it took a few minutes for the bright white snow smoke curled by the avalanche to subside.

When the snow smoke subsided, only traces of the valley buried with snow remained there.

Nestri was lucky and completely intact without being caught in an avalanche. But his face had turned pale and he had completely lost his words.

(What happened... I know it's an avalanche. But at this time... it was his fault! A white magician's spell!

Nestri survived because he was in the rear of the line, about three-quarters of the way from the front. This allowed him to escape, even though the time to enter the valley was slower than the others, retreating to be drawn by the proximity.

If there's another factor that helped, it's time for the avalanche to start. If the avalanche had started one more minute too late, the Great Haunted Troops would have been wiped out.

When Nestri returned to me, he ordered an attack on the white sorcerer standing grasping by the cedar tree above the valley.

"Kill him! Take revenge on your fellow countrymen!

One of the neighbors disputed the word.

"Rescue those who are buried! You might still be able to help!

Nestri returned to me in the true sense of the word. And when I looked around, there were warriors trying to help their countrymen who were only seeing arms and feet from the snow.

Once again, Nestri turns his eyes to the figure of the white mage, but by then he was no longer there, and he had lost sight of the mercenaries they were chasing.

(Damn it! Never forgive me! This humiliation must be fulfilled!

Though he thought so, he felt his surrounding gaze and gave orders for the rescue of his compatriots.

Of the 100 Great Ghost tribes, about fifty were caught in the avalanche. Of those, fewer than twenty were able to survive.

Nestri Kronvar lost a third of his fighting power in just half a day.

And it wasn't just the power of the war, it was also losing the trust of my men.
