Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray
Episode 47: Jill Saul Island
Around 7am on June 3rd.
As its name suggests, the Westwind (Zephyr), a medium-sized ship owned by Cheslock merchant Tobias Closure, is facing the port town of Renecrates on the island of Gilsall with a westerly wind in a triangular sail (Latine Sail).
The night dawned and Ray, who was told he was about to enter the port, had breakfast and began to prepare to disembark.
Gearing up and packing, you hear butterflies and sails folding, and the ship slows down.
The Rays went up to the deck with their luggage in one hand.
Out on deck, the sun rose, and the port town was clearly visible on the oblique front.
"I wonder if that's the renecrate over there. Smaller town than I thought."
Stella answers that sentiment.
"Sounds like it. I heard while Master Ray was asleep that Renecrates is a small town with only about a thousand people. Even so, they say it's the second-largest town in the kingdom of Gilsall."
The Kingdom of Gilsall has a total population of about 20,000, and even in Gilsall, the capital of the King, it has a population of only about 5,000. This is a steep mountain for most of the island, and lean soils with even more volcanic ash were not geared towards grain production and could not hold a large population.
The main products of Zirsol are glass products and wines, as well as olive processed products. Other fisheries flourished, but fisheries are also flourishing in coastal areas in the southern part of the empire, so no exports have been made.
The Zephyr enters the port of Renecrates as it glides. Then, after entering the harbour, he slowed down further and slowly headed to the connecting location.
There are a few ships, but they don't look like large ships, mostly medium-sized ships of the Zephyr class or only smaller ones.
A rope was hung on the connecting column (bollard) and the ship's agitation stopped.
"Now I can finally get my feet on the ground," Ray mutters.
"Lower your load!" The wild voice of Tobias echoes.
The sailors under that order opened the barn gate and began unloading.
The Rays also take the horses out of the barn, but the horses were in a bad mood for a day and night sailing trip. Ashley and the others get in the mood by giving them the brown sugar and other things they got at Phyllobisher, but only Ray's beloved horse traveler is as usual, and when he finds Ray looking, he blurts and rubs his face.
"Thank you for your help," Ray lowered his head to Tobias as he unloaded his horse and was ready to leave.
"Well, it's work for once. I don't know what to do, but be careful," he said, offering his right hand.
After shaking hands, the Rays left the ship.
Leaving the harbor, entering the town.
Renecrates have a rind-bowl-shaped terrain that surrounds the harbour, joining the white walls and orange tile roof houses to stick to the slopes.
between its houses is narrow and only wide enough for a carriage to pass critically
"It still looks like it's shaking," he said, pulling his horse and walking.
Beautiful blue skies and white-walled houses, it was idyllic (idyllic) enough to create the illusion of a resort. Has breakfast time already passed, and housewives are interested in talking as they wash dishes at the well.
Ray and Ashley in snow clothes (Nixwestis), black iron armor, and Ryan, who was in charge of the big Halvard, did not fit into the town's atmosphere.
Looking at such a long idle landscape, Ray speaks to Ashley, who walks beside him.
"To get to the Temple of Claretore, we have to go to the King's capital, Gilsall, first."
"Right. Lord Tobias told me that the only land route from Renecrates is to Gilsall. Besides, they say the temple is deep in the mountains, so you'll need to prepare for it."
Pre-examined information suggests that there are no decent streets within Gilsall Island, and that the only way to connect Gilsall to Renecrates is what can be called a street.
The Temple of Creatore is located in the mountainous part of the central part of the island, but there is little to worship it originally, and because of the lack of movement of people, they did not even know if there was a way.
"It's about a hundred and fifty km (Kimmel) from here to Zirsol, right? I hear there's a small village in the meantime, but maybe we should gather some more information."
Luna behind the Rays joined the story.
"Right. If you're going to be in the wild, you should keep that heart count. Well, if you're ready, there's nothing wrong with my storage magic."
As Ray put it, food and the like were put in as much as they could into his storage magic. This was due to concerns that villages in the Kingdom of Gilsall were poor and unable to replenish food while on the move.
As Luna suggested, he decided to gather information within the town of Renecrates. Even so, it was a small town, barely found any shops, etc., and I had to ask for information at a store selling food and groceries that I stumbled upon.
There were no customers in the store just because an old man had a store number. There were also so few commodities that they were not comparable to cities within the empire, that in addition to cereals such as wheat, there were only a few processed olives and dried fish, which were specialties.
"I'd like to buy some preserved food," Ray talks.
"There is no such thing as preserved food, but there are dried fish and dried grapes."
Put down one silver coin and ten C (Krona) (10,000 yen in Japanese yen).
"How much do you want it," the old man said, rounding his eyes, packing it in a cloth bag.
"That's fine," Ray stops at some point in.
"In that amount, it won't even be a five-krona," he shakes his head.
"Okay, let me just talk to you for a second," he said, beginning to gather information.
Ray asks about the state of the road to Jilsor, etc.
Information received from the old man tells us that the road to Jilsall can be crossed once, but that there are only two villages along the way and the rest will be wild accommodation.
When asked further about the danger, the old man laughed nicely,
"... you may not know it because you look like a traveler, but there are few demons in Jill Saul. Well, there are poisonous saucers and snakes, so be careful with them."
The old man is right, there are few demons on Gilsall Island. To the extent that flying demons stray from the southern part of the empire or sea dwelling demons strike fishing villages, there were few large creatures inland and there was little danger.
And when he heard the way out of town, he thanked him and left the store behind.
After leaving the store, we gathered everyone together to discuss future policies.
"It looks like there's no danger inland if the information we collect. Just in case Uno and the others are wary, I'm going to go where we can go with the horses."
Ashley agrees with Ray's opinion, "I think that's good," and Stella is also nodding.
"I don't really know, but I think that's fine," Ryan agreed.
Only Luna, after a little thought,
"I think that's fine, but do you think it's okay if I don't hire a guide? They say the maps are no big deal, and the roads don't seem clear..."
"You sure do. They say the forest isn't deep, but if you get lost, you enter that mountain. If you're taking a horse, it'll be safer to have a guide."
That's what Ashley says.
Rarely, Uno asked to speak by saying "fear".
"We will see the way ahead. I was wondering if it would be possible to follow the path if there were traces of people passing by."
"Right. I don't think it's a problem because I didn't get lost in the mountains of Aquila thanks to Uno."
Luna and Ashley also decided to leave without a guide if Uno was confident.
After 9: 00 a.m.
Going up the hill to leave the town of Renecrates. The house gradually disappears and the road narrows.
Looking back, he had a view of the town and the harbour and saw a small fishing boat floating in the sea.
There's not even a fence on the town boundary, and it goes straight into the jungle. I don't know if it's because the land is dry or because the geology is brittle, but when the horses walk, the soil is easily shredded with their hooves and their legs are taken many times.
As we leave the town, the trees of the forest are neglected, entering a wasteland marked by rocks and trees.
"You don't seem to get lost without a path with this," Ray tells Ashley.
"Right. But this also seems to make it difficult to secure water. Well, there are three magicians, so there's no problem."
When we entered the wasteland, the dryness proceeded at once, and we did not even see a creek of something where the water flowed.
The first day became a wild boarding house. It was flatter than I thought, so although I don't know exactly, it's progressing by more than forty kimmels.
I decided to camp close to the groves.
Ray spoke to Stella emotionally as she surrounded the bonfire and cooked an easy dish.
"You remind me of Desperationis. It was colder that way, and it was dangerous."
"Right. There were no horses then, so it was harder."
Luna has joined the story between us.
"With that said, you guys have been mostly wild accommodation since you entered Sochius, haven't you? Desperationis is a dangerous place."
I shudder brutally as Ione stretches his face against Luna's words.
"I still can't believe it. I can't believe they broke through there..."
For the people of Sochius, the wilderness of despair (Desperationis) is a symbolic place of death. Among those who entered were the famous Winged Demon spellmen and the Great Ghost warriors who were called heroes. But none returned as one.
Eat a meal while we talk about that and go to bed early. Just in case, we decided to put our sleeping numbers aside from the Unos, but no one, including the Unos, felt any dangerous signs.
Morning without a thing, proceed again through the wilderness.
About the worried path, but I never got lost because the Unos looked for traces that people had passed ahead of me. In addition, the landmark mountain was clearly visible because it did not enter so much as a deep forest, which also served as a reassuring material.
That day we arrived at a small fishing village on the coastline, where we were to stay overnight.
There was no inn or anything like a fishing village where about twenty households only lived, but they rented a barn-like cabin to spend the night.
Although information-gathering was performed, no significant information was obtained.
Afterwards the trees proceeded somewhat neglected when it came to the woods, but neither did the sasori or snakes appear noticed by the old man of Renecrates.
On June 7th we reach the hill overlooking the town of Gilsall, the king's capital.
The town of Gilsall, which received the rays of the sun leaning to the west and was stained with reddish colours, appeared small to be the king's capital.
"That's a really small town. The Empire's fortified city feels better."
Ray thought so because he didn't see a royal palace-like splendid building, although it was built on a slope facing the sea just like Renecrates. In an imperial fortified city, there was always a four-story castle owner, but even the largest building in the town under the eye had only a three-story castle.
Still, the white, united town was beautiful and had inflated expectations for the first town to enter.
After 5pm.
The Rays entered the town of Gilsall.
From above it seems that the town centre is about five hundred m (melt) north of the harbour, from which the cobblestone path extends radially. In the meantime, I proceeded with my horse towards it.
The destination had a fountain and a royal palace on its front.
It's a three-story white yard building, but so much so that the merchant's house around the capital seems bigger that if the soldiers guarding the door hadn't speared, they wouldn't have known it was a royal palace.
I try to walk around it pulling horses, but there were few people, and I couldn't find an inn.
"There doesn't seem to be any inns around here. Why don't you go over to the harbor?" I like Ashley, going further down the hill.
If you go on about two hundred melts, is it a commercial district or more buildings with small signs? Find an inn in it and see if it's available.
The Unos had already disappeared into the town, becoming six: Ray, Ashley, Stella, Luna, Ryan and Ione, but the inn itself could not secure a room in one small inn. For this reason, they were told about the nearby accommodation, which was to be accommodated in a dispersed manner.
We needed to split up into three people, and just in case we tried to equalize our forces,
"If Mr. Uno and the others will be watching us, shouldn't we split up for each party member?
That's what Luna proposes.
This is because she took care of Ashley and Stella. He cared that only the three of us had little time since he left Sochius.
"Well, then, Luna and Ione, and Ryan's in your inn, and me and Ash and Stella are fine over here."
Ashley considered the consideration unnecessary, but decided to stay in the inn at the allotment because Stella agreed "thank you".
When Luna, who broke up with the Rays, deposited her horse, she tried to make her way to the room. But I met an unexpected person there.
