Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray
Episode 101: Overcoming Fear
The morning of March 16th.
A flying wing demon spellman was attacked who was thought safe. When I was trying to find out what was causing it, I was also attacked by a demon made of liquid metal called the Invisible Killer (Murder).
The Winged Demon Spellmen instantly lost five lives due to symptoms similar to asphyxiation, and one Medium Demon Warrior was sacrificed in an Invisible Killer raid.
An investigation by Varma Niska has found that the invisible killer defeated Ray's magic and Theophilus and other attacks, and that the trap that struck the Winged Demons was caused by a cleverly installed magic formation.
The magic formation was painted on a giant rock, but it looked like a naturally made pattern and could not be discerned as a magic formation at first glance alone.
"I've never even seen such a magic formation in the library of the Great Temple of Darkness."
Ray, who heard that report, is also surprised by its ingenuity, but soon switches his head.
"Is that magic formation still working?
"It doesn't seem to be up and running right now, but I'm not even sure if there's a Demonic Crystal Stone with the first tattoo I see. All I can say is create magic using wind attributes..."
Varma is a magician enough to portray the magic formations of metastatic magic on his own, and is an expert in competing for one or two of the Moon Demons. But I report that even that girlfriend has never seen it and doesn't even know how to start it.
Even if a leading researcher in an academic city (Doctus) had seen it, he would not have been able to decipher its special magic formation.
This trap, but as Varma put it, was one that used wind attribute magic.
The density of air can be changed randomly in the air, and the "clouds appeared distorted” in Uno's report was a phenomenon that occurred because the refractive index differed from the others due to the difference in density.
Ray sums up his thoughts as he answers "Really......"
"Contact the people of the meadows to rendezvous," he commanded the Oracle of the Beastman,
"We will resume our march! But proceed more carefully than ever!
"Do we keep going like this?" Ashley confirms.
"It's a dangerous trap, but if you refrain from reconnaissance for fear of it, it'll be worse," he says.
Greater attention was drawn to the Beasts and the Winged Demons.
"Everyone in the scouts should also pay attention to the refraction of light. Not necessarily without a similar trap ahead. If you notice anything else, please report anything trivial"
Ray deeply regretted the loss of as many as six lives in an instant.
But even when I was depressed here, I thought it would involve overall morale, and I pushed my emotions to death.
I realized that. Stella tried to hang the words,
(Master Ray is trying to contain your emotions. If I hang my words of comfort here, my emotions could erupt and be counterproductive. I don't know what to do...)
Ashley, walking next door, puts her hand on Stella's shoulder and whispers so loudly that no one else can hear her saying, "Now we just have to watch".
Stella nodded small at the words as well.
The Crusaders began to advance again through the Desperate Wilderness (Desperationis).
As the scouts began to act with caution, the speed of movement dropped from the previous day and can only proceed about 2 km (Kimmel) an hour. Moreover, the heavy depletion of the scouts as they were forced into excessive tension, and the fact that they were forced to take turns again and again, was also responsible for the slowdown.
Although it was the velocity that dropped, even slight discomfort was reported as directed by Ray, thus pre-detecting dangerous traps and minimizing damage. Still, the sacrifice was not zero.
It suddenly happened when I was taking a long break for lunch.
The ground as well as the surroundings were alert, but the ground suddenly cracked and a giant demon with tentacles like Isogyn Chuck attacked.
The tentacle-bearing demon (roper) was about seven meters high (melt) and the executive nearly three melts in diameter, pointing a tentacle about fifteen melts at the mercenary of the nearest Mercenary Regiment No. 3.
The captain, Lazareth Dawell, who was resting with his hips down on the ground, was surprised by the sudden raid, but issued an immediate order.
"Get away from me once! Watch his tentacles! It could be poisonous!
With experience as an adventurer, Lazareth has fought tentacle demons (ropers). I knew from that experience that it was often poisonous, and I issued a warning.
Though a temporary mess has occurred, the elite Red Arms regain calm immediately against unfamiliar demons as well.
Quickly retreating to get distance under Lazareth's orders, the archer releases an arrow to tow and cover the retreat as he quickly ascends on the rock.
Meanwhile, the spellmen led by the moon witch Elise Nortier launched the attack. Many spellmen rushed to choose the fire attribute, but Ehlis stops it.
"Calm down! Heritage shouldn't have worked the magic of fire attributes on this roper! Focus on chopping off your tentacles with your wind attributes."
I will cast a spell myself as I say so.
"If you're magically weak, I'll put a piece on you at once! Zenga, it's Squad Two's turn!," Hamish commands Zenga Ormiga, captain of the second squad.
"Roger that! Oh, go on! Respond." The usual slightly prolonged and unique adhesion lifted the tensions of the second squad's mercenaries.
When all the tentacles were cut off in the Ealis attacks, Hamish said, "Keep going with me!," he shouts, storming the roper.
The roper, whose tentacles were cut off, tried to escape into the ground, but was subjected to an intense slaughter wrapped around Hamish's "struggle," stopping him from moving.
In addition, Zenga's giant axe spear (Halvard) chooses the executive, and the second squad's mercenaries, mainly long-held weapons (Paul Weapon), are attacked one after the other.
The roper stopped moving completely as it sprinkled a sap-like liquid.
The battle is settled, and many appeases.
I was never alarmed, but a gaseous demon like smoke was quietly gushing out of my feet poking at that slight gap.
The moment the second squad member touches that gaseous demon, he sucks his life force and pokes his knee. But I don't understand what happened.
The first thing I noticed was Seyce the Beast Man.
"Watch your step! A foggy demon is coming out!
Having seen it before, it immediately issues a warning and immediately flies ice with a magical sword of water attributes forged by a famous Dwarf artisan. Ice wrapped around the power of the Spirit puts a big hole in the foggy demon, and the movement is dull.
"You can only defeat Mithril's weapon or magic! Stand back if you only have a normal weapon!" and Ray gives the order.
The Ealis began their attack with magic again, and the demons were completely extinguished.
But the mercenary who poked his knee and collapsed was completely deprived of his vitality, staring into the void with a vain eye.
Traps and raids have since caused two ghost tribes, two beast troops and one wing demon tribe to lose their lives. Still managed to go about twenty kimmels and was about to celebrate the second night.
When Ray orders the camp to prepare, he convenes a captain class to discuss the future.
The first person to speak was Elise.
"It's a scarier place than I imagined...... embarrassing story, our team of spellmen are greatly demoralized"
Tarvo Kronvar nods loudly at the words as well.
"The same goes for ghosts. I intended to gather the elite, but I am frightened by the name" Desperationis "…"
The demons and ghosts were chased two thousand years ago through the land west of the Aquila Mountains and came to the land. In doing so, we are entering this wilderness and losing many of our companions. The inheritance is pulsating and the fear of that time is engraved in their hearts.
Also, a reckless young man insulted the wilderness of despair, challenging it many times, but in the end no one was able to cross it alive, and the fact was also renewing awareness to those living in Sokius, the land of demons.
"If I told you that, we wouldn't be much different. Regardless of the captain class, the soldiers are frightened to see when the demons will come out. I don't know what to say, but only Lord Uno's Beast Squad and Theo are keeping their minds open."
Many snort at Hamish's words.
The Unos Beast Troops were not originally afraid of death and continued to deal calmly with the raids of traps and demons. The figure looked exactly like a combat machine, and Hamish, knowing who they were, was once again realizing the horror.
Theophilus and the rest of the Lockhart family, but they acted as usual, as Hamish put it. When they finished preparing their meals, the five of them were doing rigorous workouts as usual.
It's not like you're not feeling scared with them.
Asked by Hamish about it, Seraphine answers with the usual smile.
My uncle and father taught me to laugh when I think I'm scared on the battlefield. If the Lockhart family were frightened, the vigilantes would be more frightened. So we endure no matter how scared we think... "
Furthermore, Theophilus had answered the same thing.
"... we're looking at Brother Rod and Brother Zach. I don't think I've ever had a frightened look when my brothers fought. I'm trying to act like I'm not ashamed of my brothers."
And after I said that, you remembered something, and you laughed and you laughed.
"Besides, Brother Zach taught me this.“ Remember Dwarf if you think he's afraid of the enemy. "
"What does that mean?" Hamish asks.
"Dwarves fight without fear from any enemy if they are to protect their people and friends. Even if it's a big country. Perhaps the opponent will not be frightened even by God...... The Dwarves of Ars have come to help by running as far as three hundred kimmels to protect the Lockhart family. I have no intention or anything there, just from the bottom of my heart that I want to protect...... that is, remember that the most important thing is to protect what is important. The best way to remember that is to remember Dwarf."
"I see. Surely they would have no intention, nothing to fight through"
"That's the thing. I'm afraid of dying, but losing one of my people is more terrifying. If we're not going to do that, we have to beat fear."
I heard that story. Tarvo skipped himself,
"Lord Theophilus is right. If you want to protect Luna first, you shouldn't feel scared."
Elise also agrees with Talvo's words.
"You're right. We are here to protect Master Luna and to protect the world. Carve that into your heart, and there's no unbeatable fear."
Theo draws attention to the two words.
"Reckless and brave are also taught to be different. The important thing is not to lose your cool. It doesn't make sense to go upside down to protect it."
Tarvo and Elis nodded loudly.
Ray re-compartmentalizes "I'll get back to you," there.
"We went on about fifty kimmels in two days. The distance itself can be said to be better than assumed, but today we are making as many as twelve sacrifices in one day. If you have any feedback on how to move forward, please."
So Ashley speaks with her hands up.
"Sacrifice is something I knew from the beginning. Unless you've lost half of it, but if you're frightened to this extent, you can't challenge the god of nothingness in the first place."
Ray disagrees with that opinion.
"That being said, we're going to be tougher now. Especially if it's too much for the scouts. I think it's too dangerous to keep going without taking action."
"I agree with Ash," Hamish remarked,
"At least fifty more kimmels to go. It is done to this extent because the scourge of the Winged Demons and the Beasts is functioning well. If you want to shrink the scouts, you should think that the sacrifice will be even greater."
"What about advancing only with the scouts and the elites, and the main squad going on after ensuring safety? I've been attacked many times during the main unit's breaks, and I think we should be able to limit the scope of protection in dangerous places."
Ray was wondering if he was too numerous to protect him. This is because so many lives have been lost in places that his eyes can't reach, he was wondering if it would be a good idea to travel in a large force like the one he is now.
In contrast, Hamish categorically denies it.
"Regardless of the trap, you better have a lot of fighting power against the demons that attack you. Besides, can you tell me it's safe where the advance team went through? I've only seen the last two days, but there's nothing like a pattern in the demonic raids here. You shouldn't spread your power at times like this."
To Hamish's words, Ray replies, "Right," but I still saw a stray.
Hamish is convinced that Ray is starting to lose confidence in the way he looks.
(The usual guy would understand this extent. Probably lost confidence when his men lost their lives for the first time in command. You can have my mouth, but that'll stop him from growing. You should follow through here and see how it goes......)
As Hamish had thought, Ray was on the verge of losing confidence. Ashley and Stella were also aware of the matter, but were unable to provide effective advice.
"I have a suggestion," Luna remarks.
Everyone on the spot turned their gaze to her. Ray has a surprising look because Luna hasn't spoken aggressively on these occasions.
"Luckily it seems safe here. Why not create a simple base in this place and think about what to do against demons and traps before you act"
"I wonder if that means establishing a way to deal with traps and demons while exploring this perimeter."
"Yeah, you're right. There are over ten people who can use earthly attribute magic. Explore the surroundings in small numbers while magically consolidating the ground to prevent surprise attacks from underground. If you're a party of ten or so, too, you'll be able to deal with it no matter what. We need a lot of people to have experience so that we don't panic if something unforeseen happens ahead."
Luna's proposal was intended to give key members experience in this dangerous “desperate wilderness (Desperationis)" and to make them realize that the place was not insurmountable.
"Sure, that might work," Ashley agrees.
"I don't have a particular deadline, so I think it will be easier to act after this."
Theophilus also agrees with Luna.
"Sure, there's no deadline......" Ray says,
"It's just about half a distance away, and training in this setting might be a good idea...... I'd like to build a base tomorrow and do some training the day after tomorrow that combines reconnaissance around me. That's good."
It's hard to say that I've completely regained confidence yet, but Ray was relieved inside that I still decided not to push him forward.
