Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray
Episode XIV: To Fonce
The next morning, Cloik had a raw and hateful rain pattern.
Ray and Ashley were in the rain, unwilling to tour the city, discussing how to kill time after this.
"I'm not willing to walk around town, either I'm gobbling in an inn, or I'm going to a mercenary guild to move my body, but what do we do?
"I'm also bored to be in the inn all day. Move your body in the Alliance's training grounds."
In a word from Ashley, we were to head to the mercenary guild.
He wears a cape, wears a hood and walks in the rain, but the rain enters through the gap.
Ray said, "You don't have an umbrella?," asks Ashley,
"I do, but I only use umbrellas, royalty or nobility, and a warrant or a maid."
(There is, but I wonder if it's a practical product. It's really inconvenient... at least this cloak would be comfortable too if it was a bit more water-repellent material... it looks pretty spicy to work in the rain. If you're going to be escorting me as a mercenary in the future, you might want to think of something to take care of...)
The umbrellas of this world are mainly sun umbrellas used in the south, some rarely as rain umbrellas. However, it was rarely used because it was not a closable object, as Ray thought, but was always in an open state.
When I went to the Mercenary Guild training ground, many of the mercenaries worked in training.
Ray looked at the sight and said, "You're quite there. Now, do we do it too," he turns his shoulder wide.
At Ashley's suggestion, he was to train around a simulated battle between Stella and Ray to see how the three of us would work together when we had time to fight.
Ray still used his long sword in the main today. Stella also learns how to fight an ordinary warrior by receiving Ray's long sword.
In the afternoon the three of us confirmed the collaboration and, having been somewhat convinced, decided to head to the Knights' Stuff.
Even out of the training ground, it was still raining, but the rain had weakened and fallen considerably. Looking up at the sky, it was going to stop at night, turning into such an empty pattern.
In the Knights' Stuff, the Knights of the Song will explain yesterday's bandits.
"Of all the bandits you caught, only one had an arrangement going around. A man named Dudley..."
The knight explains that all but Dudley were involved in criminal activity and that a bounty would be paid.
"Well, even the head Dudley is a Level Twenty-eight trinket. Others are nothing but the town's grottoes, so it's not a big deal. More gear and horses should be expensive than that. I'm still buying here, but if you take it elsewhere, I'll lend you a wagon."
Ray worried about what to do and decided to ask Ashley for her opinion.
"You can take it to the guild, but it'll take time to assess. If it's not a big deal, it might be better if you bought it here. What do you think of Ash?
Ashley nods, "Isn't that okay?"
When I told the knight about it, it seemed that an assessment had already been made, and a man like the clerk appeared and began to explain the details of the assessment. In that explanation, the gear was two thousand C (krona) for twenty people, twelve thousand two hundred C for seventeen horses and five hundred C for the bounty.
"I'd like to pick up one horse, okay?
When I ask the clerk, he tells me that there is no problem, so he tells me to choose which horse.
When I went to the stables and started looking at the horses, the reed horse I treated yesterday was scratching the floor with his hooves firmly.
As Ray comes closer, he looks happy.
Ray touched that horse's face,
(I don't know which horse I'd like, so I thought Ash would pick it out, but something seems to fit with this guy)
"I'll make it this one."
"You're young, but you have eyes to see. This is the best horse I've ever had. Probably a frog horse."
The southern Caerm Empire has a vast grassland area, famous as a region of famous horses, and is also committed to the development of cavalry.
Though Caerm's military horses are all famous horses sought by many knights because of their cleverness and high loyalty to their riders, Caerm's military horses, in the policies of the Empire, were basically embargoed and barely circulated outside the Empire.
"Of the twelve thousand two hundred C, this guy is eight thousand C, and the rest is two hundred C a head. If that's all right with you, you can take him."
When I checked with Ashley and Stella, they said there was no problem, so I picked up the reed horse and received five thousand and seven hundred C.
(Eight million yen horse... I'm not sure if it's expensive or cheap. It's expensive if you think you're in a luxury car, because you know the price of a racehorse...... I'll ask Ash later)
The average civilian income here in Lax is three thousand C. Ray's chosen horse was twice to triple that annual income. Ray, whose sense of money has gone crazy since he came to this world, had not realized its value.
When I take the reed horse out of the stables, he rubs his face against Ray with joy.
Ray was pulling the horse with pleasure as he closed his mouth to the twitching horse.
By the way, a well-educated frogman's military horse is of high rare value and lightly exceeds 20,000 C if bought in Fonce.
Back at the inn for dinner, Morkley came to see where he'd heard from.
At first, he came into the inn dining room with a worried face, but seeing the Rays safe makes him look horrible. And most of all, I uttered words of apology.
"I heard you were attacked by a burglar, and it didn't seem like my consideration was enough. I'm so sorry."
"No, not Lord Morkley's downfall because we were also alarmed"
"That's right. Well, they didn't make a big deal out of it, and tomorrow, we're going to match the departure time of the merchant squad, so it's okay."
Morkley bowed her head again,
"If it is, I will speak to the Chamber of Commerce I know."
Ray and Ashley face each other.
"You don't have to do that. Neither are we going to be alarmed any longer, and if we leave Cloyk, no one will know. You don't have to worry about that much."
"Okay. I hope you're safe on the road."
Morkley, who finally had a gleeful look, said goodbye to them and returned to the Chamber of Commerce.
The next morning it also stopped raining yesterday, with refreshing sunny weather in the early summer.
Around eight in the morning, the three of them leave the city of Cloik. There are many carriages going on the streets, and they also walk into one of those merchant squads, taking the streets at a slow pace.
Ray's horse was very powerful and wanted to run down the street, and Ray was having a hard time forgiving that grand horse.
Nothing happened, he took the street and two days later, on May 29th, he arrived in Knockdi, the city in front of Fonce, the king's capital.
As I entered the Knockdi Inn, a rumor came into my ear.
Ten days ago, on May 19th, the Bishop of the Light Divine Church on the move told the story of his illness and death in this city that the Bishop had lost his right arm and both legs.
(Isn't the bishop talking about Azaro? It's not very praiseworthy to rejoice in people's deaths, but now you don't have to be frightened out of that fanatic. If I were sitting in Fonce, I would have thought about what to do.)
When Ray told Ashley about it, Ashley thought the same thing.
"Right. That's good news that Azaro's gone. If the bishop doesn't do something about being seconded from the temple of Fonce later, it won't be a problem"
From the city of Knockdi to the king's capital Fonce is about thirty km away. Tomorrow morning, if we leave around 8: 00 as usual, we will arrive at Fonce after noon.
Ray felt the pressure to meet Ashley's father, Hamish, gradually grew stronger.
(You're meeting Ash's father tomorrow, aren't you? Heavy...... scattered, threatened, that's extra scary...... Wouldn't you be surprisingly gentler than the rumors? Ha... all I get is a sigh...)
On the road, aside, Stella had a rare voice in Ray's appearance, whose mouth would be heavier even at dinner.
"What happened to Master Ray? Is it bad for you, too?
Ray and Ashley laugh bitterly at the words, but Ray was happy Stella cared for them. And stroking her head,
"No, I'm not sick or anything. Hey, I need to see someone who's scared... but thanks for worrying"
Ray continued the act of stroking Stella's head, which he began in Cloik. Still, there had been no visible change, but a slight change in her expression was beginning to appear.
(Stella is little by little, ready to put her emotions outside... no, maybe she just feels that way... Stella will be face-to-face with the mercenaries tomorrow too. I really need to follow up... I can't do this in my current psychological situation...)
The next day, for Fonce, I left.
The sky becomes more and more cloudy, further depressing Ray's heart, which darkens.
Take a break about twice and continue further down the street. Beautiful scenery with alternating forests and hills, but Ray can't afford to enjoy it.
Around one o'clock in the afternoon, over a gentle highway, the city of Fonce was seen beneath his eyes.
The view of the city you wish for was a huge fortified city, with a slightly distorted circular wall five kilometers in diameter and fifteen kilometers around it. Around the city, the countryside stretches along a large lake to the west and a street to the south of the city, with rivers flowing.
Moving his eyes into the city, there was a slightly larger building on the west side of the center, and Ray returned the answer that it was a royal palace when he asked Ashley.
The castle gate has large objects to the east, west, north and south, and a fairly wide street can be seen on the north and south centerline.
"It's a big city. How many people live here?
Ray asks Ashley, but she had been distracted by the homeland she hadn't seen in a year or three months.
(I'm back... yet, I wasn't going to come back... but you haven't changed, Fonce...)
Ray saw how Ashley was doing,
(I wonder what you're thinking? Are you talking about my hometown or my parents' house... if you say so, I didn't care about Ash with all my hands about myself... why I left my parents' house, you didn't listen to that well...)
Further south down the street, I could see the enormous castle gate of Fonce.
Dozens of people form a line at the castle gate, waiting for the order of the procedure for admission.
In about thirty minutes, it was in the order of the Rays, who confirmed the orb, screened the entrance, paid the entry tax, etc., and finally managed to get around the castle gate.
Walking through the castle gate and into the main street through the north and south, even Ray, who was supposed to be depressed, didn't think of the number of people and said, "Wow! Ash!" he raises his voice.
The main street is about twenty meters wide, with many carriages, carriages, hiccups.
All the buildings standing on either side of the road are more than three floors long, with a line of retailers selling food and accessories on the ground floor.
The road is overflowing with people, walking with a peek at the store, so it is not possible to travel by ride. All the riders, including the three of them, were walking down the horse.
They walk carefully to keep each other from falling off, but they were swallowed up by a wave of people and were about to fall off again and again.
Scratching a wave of people, going about five hundred meters, finally calms the flow of people.
As Ray walks down the road, he realizes there is.
(This is all people and horses have, but the city is beautiful... sure the new horse shit is falling, but it doesn't smell that bad. It's weird that this is all the big cities...)
When I told Ashley about it, I turned my chest and started talking about the pride of the city.
"Fonce has a massive sewer. To preserve the beauty of Fonce, the capital of the Fountain. The aesthetics of the city are preserved because the city is strewn with sewers and sewage. The sewer runs 10 km south into the river, so it hardly smells."
(I see. You can keep the city clean because you constantly run the water gushing out of the fountain into the sewer... but it must have been a lot of work to build as many as 10 km of sewer in this world. With that said, the walls here were awesome too...)
The walls of Fonce are about ten meters high and surround the perimeter indefinitely.
All, solid objects of stone, with irregular guneyes on the walls of the castle, and the soldiers were seen walking.
The western side of the city of Fonce includes the Royal Palace and the Administration Building and the headquarters of the Knights, making the eastern side a commercial district. Residential areas stretch northwest and southwest so as to sandwich the royal palace from north to south, and mercenary and adventurer guilds are gathered on the south side of the commercial district and on the southeast side of the city.
Take a slow walk down Main Street and you'll head out to a large square in the heart of the city.
At the centre of the square was a large fountain filled with clear water, amidst an enclosure made of white stone. And there were many dewstores lined up in the square, and the sellers gave a firm voice to the travellers.
As you pass the square and enter the east side, you begin to see yourself as an adventurer or mercenary.
Around, a large sign with swords and axes began to stand out, and there was more smoke coming out of the chimney on the roof. Ray finds himself in a weapons store.
(Awesome...... how many houses are there? I've seen more than ten weapons stores alone...)
Ashley watches over and over again for kyorokyoro and restless rays, and goes further into the city.
From Weapon Shop Street, walking for about five minutes, a large four-story stone building came into view. Ashley explains that the building has a sign depicting a sword and shield and is the Lax headquarters of a mercenary guild.
Further behind it was the Lax headquarters of the Adventurer's Guild with bows and sickles.
Ray didn't think of the greatness, he was leaking his thoughts.
"That's the headquarters of the whole Lux, isn't it? The mercenary guild feels bigger, but Fonce is more in demand for mercenaries?
"That's right. There are a lot of escorts on the streets. Plus, the Aquila Mountains' demonic crusade has many massive objects that are joint with the Knights. That's why there are so many big mercenaries."
"One of them is Ash's home..."
Walking past the mercenary guild building, for about two or three minutes, Ashley was pointing to the front.
"That's my home."
At the tip of her finger is a splendid stone two-story building, about fifty or sixty meters wide in the front, with a walking post speared at the entrance. The figure was no different from the stuffing of the Knights of the Country, and Ray kept his mouth open to more greatness than expected, without words.
