Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray
Episode 42: Strategic Discussion
July 2.
The excitement of the summer solstice festival the previous day had cooled, and the city of Bridgens had a feeling of loneliness somewhere after the festival.
The merchant wagon had already reloaded its luggage, despite yesterday's festival.
Hamish and Alberic had left Bridgand here by the end of yesterday to report on the events in Turok, leaving only Squad Five below Valeria.
There was nothing about those mercenaries that were hungover and unable to move, but they felt somewhat tired.
"The next day of the festival is somehow powerless."
"Right. I wish I could switch, but I still have the remnants of the festival."
When Ray and Ashley are talking about that, Valeria, the captain, signals to leave.
Bridgand unloads heavy coal, and carriages just loaded with light furs gently continue down the street. Some of the wagons were empty in order to purchase food and other items in the city along the way.
Stella was shaking by a horse, touching a chalker-type pendant on her neck.
Ray bought it for Stella yesterday at the Summer Solstice Festival, with a thin string of black leather with a top representing a small star.
(Ray gave it to me. My previous husband gave me weapons and protective equipment, but I don't think I was this happy. Why are you so happy?
Ashley, who was looking sideways at the
(I complained to Ray about the collar-like shape, but Stella is happy. I hadn't been so concerned about it before, but today I see it oddly as a woman. I wonder what Ray thinks......)
Ashley was also aware of a gift from him - a pendant in the form of a sword - that hit his chest and was rocked by a horse.
(My bond with Ray is fine. You don't have to worry. But... oh, I'm getting more and more feminine. Now at work, focus...)
I didn't know you two were thinking that, neither did Dew. Ray was rocked with his beloved horse's back as he looked around. And I was thinking about the demon clan that disappeared in Turok.
(The Demons disappeared, why? It did do a lot of damage to Auga. But no matter how much auga, that fort shouldn't fall with just a few dozen. Then you were preparing for other forces. I wonder what you're thinking?
And we remember what happened when we were attacked.
(If I hadn't come up with that unscrupulous magic at that time and Mr. Hamish wasn't around, the merchants would have been wiped out no matter how elite the Mercenaries were. Even if it's fifty times the number of regular escorts, it's hard to counter thirty orgasms. Auga is a third-degree monster, Ash and Renzi are talking about a third-degree mercenary who can finally get to each other)
And then he moves on to thinking about that ”if."
(The average for our fifth squad is about grade six. Assuming they are five men and each other, they will have attacked twenty-five men of the Fifth Squad with five or six times their strength. What the hell, was it Lancaster's law? That's it, squared if it's five times the power difference, one-on-twenty-five. Even if this one is wiped out, they'll take one down or not. Then you can win without risk...)
When I think about it that much, I begin to wonder if the enemy's aim is a soldier attack.
(Sure the fort is small but the defense is stiff. But wouldn't that size be a necklace? There won't be that much food to store, and I don't know the number of inhabitants of the village of Turok, but I think they were as good as the soldiers. If we evacuate its inhabitants to the fort, the attack on the soldiers is an effective means. The only reinforcements to the fort are the Bridgendo City defensemen and adventurers, even close by. Moreover, there is a distance of as much as one hundred and seventy km. Even if the early horses were lucky enough to get out, it would take three days. Two more days to form a unit and leave, and as little as ten days if you take five days to travel. If you can't get the horses out early, you can't expect reinforcements... if you're coming after a soldier attack, the next merchant squad is pretty dangerous...)
When he thought that far, something cold flowed down his spine, causing him to shake himself bluntly.
At the break, Ray reported to Valeria, the captain, what he had thought while on the move.
"... so the enemy isn't going to attack the fort itself, is he?
Valeria keeps her arms together, silent.
(Ray) That certainly makes sense. The fort has a capacity of about 300 people. There are about two hundred villagers, so it gets pretty narrow. Storage of food should have a minimum of one month's worth of regular soldiers, two hundred. Conversely, the smallest part of the time, yes, will only be a month before supplies arrive. If, at that stage, the supply was interrupted and the villagers fled in... it would only take half a month to calculate)
And I was thinking about who to convey this idea to.
(The next supply should probably leave in a couple of days. We won't make it now. Oh, I regret the absence of the captain of the regiment, really... Yeah, we can make it if we run the decree now. This kid's horse is pretty famous, and it's best to let him run... but what's going on with this kid's head? Good idea......)
Valeria orders Ray to follow Hamish a day ahead.
"Go after the captains. Your horse can catch up the night after tomorrow if you fly. With any luck, we'll be just in the same city as the merchants headed to Turok. Stella in a light outfit would go with it. You two should leave now. After catching up, follow the commander's instructions."
Ray said, "Roger that!," he exclaims, returning to the Ashleys.
He tells Ashley, the squad leader, what's going on, and soon lets Stella and I, the horses, run.
dropping off the two of us. She
(Even if you know it's work, your mind is unconvincing. But with Stella, Ray's safe. As an escort there is no more qualified than her......)
Renzi's voice hangs on her back staring at that figure.
"You look like the man you love has gone. It's okay, Ray. She only thinks of Stella as much as her sister."
"Oh, I don't care...... no, you cared. I'm sorry, I made you pay attention."
(Is that my sister... it sure looks that way. But the feeling of jealousy can't be helped by reason...)
The Rays, who left the merchant corps, were running horses all the way southwest.
His beloved horse traveler also appears to be pleased with this situation, where he is free to drive, not on the steps of a nostalgic carriage.
Though close to the border entrance bridge, the streets have quite a few people to and from, and need to slow down sometimes, but go down the streets at a fairly fast pace.
Although Stella's horse is not a waste of horses, it cannot be compared to Traveller, the famous horse of the Frog. For this reason it was necessary to take frequent breaks.
"Is Stella okay? Aren't you tired?
"It's okay. Isn't Master Ray the one who's tired?
"It's fun riding a horse. I'm not tired at all. I want to keep it in front of Corolt by the end of the day, so take a good look at the horse situation. If it's going to crumble, I'll buy a horse somewhere."
After six o'clock that afternoon, we arrive in the town about thirty km in front of the city of Corolt with almost a running pack. The two of them were running 70 km in one day.
(Stella's horse looks pretty tired. I can still afford my traveler, but I need to rest here... should I change my horse tomorrow? Do you want to buy a replacement horse?
He hears where he sells his horses at the inn, he was not a military horse, but he finds a horse for horseback riding and gets one horse for a thousand C (krona) (= million yen).
"Use these two heads tomorrow. If we don't catch up by tomorrow, Mr. Hamish will be wrong with the merchant squad."
Sleep well that night due to the comfortable tiredness of horseback riding, and the next morning, at 5 a.m., when it had just become bright, let the horse run again.
7: 00 am.
Sometimes in the early morning there were few people on the street and things went well, so we arrived in the city of Corollo.
The accommodation Hamish and the others stayed in will soon be found, but they are already leaving, so they will continue to follow Hamish.
9: 00 am.
When Stella's horse reached her limit, she found a Hamish-like figure ahead.
"It's Mr. Hamish. Stella should catch up slowly. I'll go first."
I left Stella behind and drove my horse, and after 9 a.m. on July 4, I was safe and able to catch up with Hamish.
Hamish and Alberic are surprised by the sudden appearance of Ray, but soon stop the horse and listen.
At the end of Ray's story, Hamish raised a roaring voice, and Alberic was exhaling whoops.
"... ok. Sure you can think about it...... but there's not much I can do. You'll meet that merchant squad in the city ahead, but you won't get more escorts."
Ray questions Hamish's words.
"Don't you even trust the captain's words?
Hamish shook his neck to the side,
"If I tell you, whoever the escort is, they'll listen. And while vigilance will increase, it is up to the merchant who commands the merchant corps to decide whether to increase his escort. More escorts, that's all you'll make."
And after giving him just a few unfortunate expressions, he went on to talk.
"This is not what I thought in your head, but if you have reliable information, you will get more people. But this time it's just an imagination. Plus, adding more escorts won't get you back to Fonce. Probably look for it in Corolt or Bridgend. I doubt that will bring together anyone who has served as an escort to the massive merchants."
Corolt is not so far from Fonce that the streets are relatively safe. Bridgend ahead is not that big of a city, and carriages of wagons rarely come and go, except for the large merchant corps in military relations. For this reason, we are only in the city of Corolt, about the solo of a pedestrian opponent or a team of a few mercenaries. If you go to Bridgend, there are many adventurers, but they are unlikely to be escorts of the merchant corps because they choose a good split demon hunt.
Stella also catches up safely and the four wait for the merchant squad in the next city.
As expected by Hamish, I was able to meet the merchant squad to Turok, but the only answer I received was that the escort increase would look at the situation at that time and think about it.
(I've been running hard, but in the end it's a waste of my legs...)
Hamish, who sees Ray's unfortunate face, puts his hand on his shoulder and calls out.
"I'm not wasting my legs. If we increase our vigilance with this, we should be able to survive if we are attacked. It's several times better than being attacked without warning. You did good."
Ray nods at the word and confirms his upcoming plans.
"What should we do now? Should I join the Fifth Squad?
"It's safe around here, and Fonce is right in front of you. You can stay with me, okay?
In one word from Alberic, the Rays were to act with Hamish.
Fourth of July the following day.
Ray and Stella returned to Fonce for the first time in about a month.
Hamish immediately headed to the Knights of the Springs headquarters.
Returning in about two hours, Hamish went straight to the captain's office and began discussing with the three captains, with the exception of Captain Valeria of the Fifth Squad and Zenga of the Second Squad, who are on another assignment.
Ray and Stella, who broke up with Hamish and the others, leave their horses at the stables.
I noticed a strange horse on the horse Stella pulls, though I was glad to see the traveler Bert the stables haven't seen in a long time.
"What's the matter, that horse?
"I needed to rush the captain to let him know, so I bought it in the city on the way. I'm not a military horse, so I'm thinking of selling it."
"Whatever, you can sell it to a horse inquirer I know. So, how much did you buy it for?
When Ray says he bought it for a thousand C's,
"You've been bored... well. I'll collect more than half the price. Claim the difference to the regiment."
Ray nodded,
(Can it be dropped with the necessary expenses? I wasn't even a sociopath, and you're oblivious to these things. Did you say receipts or something? I don't know...... by the way, is there something like a receipt in this world as well?
In the end, Bart sold me for more than double what I expected, so I didn't charge the difference and even made a hundred C's of money. I tried to give the hundred C to Bart,
"I've been a bummer with the Knights. So, it just so happens that the price of the horse has risen. I didn't do anything."
That's how Burt refused to accept the difference, and in the end, a hundred C's of money remained in his hands.
(I wonder if the Knights are butterflies, you mean the Devil's Crusade? Rumor I heard on the way, he said he stopped dispatching, but still, is there something? Either way, it'll take three more days for the Fifth Squad to get back, or you can relax in training)
He was going to relax until the Fifth Squad came back.
