Trinitas Mundus - The Story of Saint Knight Ray
Episode 47: The Knights Leader
Ray and Hamish had left the Sorcerer's Tower before heading to the Knights of the Springs headquarters, where Hamish had asked for permission to enter the hotel in front of the entrance.
Ray was really surprised to get into Knights headquarters because he thought it was something Hamish had put up with in his aggressive lies.
"Do you really have business?
"No, I don't have any particular business, but the magician doesn't know where to look. I didn't sign up for an interview, but I'm going to say hello to the Knights Commander."
Without reservation or prior mention, Ray was surprised at how easy it was to meet the chief of the Knights, a heavy town in one country.
(Speaking of knighthood captains, you're at the top of the martial arts. Is that what you see without an appointment... is Mr. Hamish awesome or is he a Frank national...)
As soon as I informed the soldiers standing at the entrance to the headquarters of their visit, the guided soldiers arrived.
Are you also allowed to carry weapons, without depositing them, and walk straight back.
(I wonder if that's okay. Well, maybe Mr. Hamish is special, even if an outsider enters the center of a country with a weapon. Don't you think about terrorism or, if it's something you can do, you're tempted to try it... Mr. Hamish, why don't you try it on them...)
Moving down the hallway, Hamish is calling out whether he was also a few knights he saw. The opponents also vary from those in knightly splendid clothing to those in the squire class, who are voiced by Hamish and look happy.
(You're just a hero. I wonder why you don't work for me?
Ray was intrigued by the Knights headquarters entering for the first time, but was careful not to be too keen to embarrass Hamish.
(That sounds like a heavy building. What do the knights of this world usually do? Are you still training here? Or is it also deskwork......)
Inside the stone building it was limp and cool enough to forget the heat outside.
As we go in the back, the shadows disappear and only our own footsteps echo the trick.
As he went up to the third floor and stood in front of the heavily felt black wooden door, the soldier of the guide shoutely announced Hamish's visit.
"This is Lord Hamish Markat, head of the Mercenary Corps of Markat!
"Get in!"
From behind the door, I heard a well-sounding low voice forged up on the battlefield.
Once inside, a great enough man comparable to Hamish gets up from the chair and leaves Hamish.
"Lord Hamish, you've come a long way. Is today a continuation of the other day's story?
(Continuation of the other day's story? Is this about the Chulock demons?
"No, I had a wild day at the magician's tower."
Hamish laughed, pointing to Ray,
"Well, I brought him here to introduce him to Lord Victor."
Unlike the hard way he talks to a magician, Ray finds himself uncomfortable with the uneasiness of having a conversation with a colleague.
(Even though they're knight captains, you talk almost like your peers. Were there any other edges?
Victor Rockletter, head of the Knights, gives a strange look for a moment at Ray's appearance unlike the mercenary atmosphere.
"Well, are you on the edge of Lord Hamish?
"Well, that's what it is. My daughter's fiancée, you can think of her as my successor."
Ray is surprised by the words and is about to raise his voice.
(I still know what Ash's fiancé is. But Mr. Hamish's successor candidate... I can't bind the mercenaries...)
Just as Ray was surprised, neither can the Knight Commander hide his surprise look.
(That this honorable man is Lord Hamish's successor candidate... no way... but he's not the man to say that in playtime. Is that so much delicacy...)
"Successor candidate for Lord Hamish at that young age... I'm Victor Lockletter"
Victor offers his right hand. Ray panicked for being greeted earlier and immediately shook his hand back.
"Excuse me. I'm Ray Arklight."
In Ray's haste, Victor's questions grow bigger and bigger.
(I don't smell like a first-rate martial artist because of my standing behavior, but it's not as uncomfortable when I'm told it's a scholar's egg or an official)
"Lord Victor, you'd be surprised to hear this guy was my successor candidate, wouldn't you? This is the one who thought about the demonic strategy we talked about the other day, the Troop Attack at the Fort of Chulock. And even though I ended up empty-handed, I also gave you the Devil's Crusade. Well, not yet with the spear arm, but this guy can cut his head off. There are other talents you can't be mercenaries."
"This guy is... funny about that thought. You called me Ray Arklight. From now on, let me call you Ray."
He gets slapped on the shoulder with Victor's big hand, and he looks unwittingly mellow.
"Lord Hamish, I was actually going to ask your brother to come. We have a policy on Fort Chulock."
From feeling frank until then to a serious look.
"At yesterday's meeting in front of you, no Knights dispatch to Fort Chulock was to take place. The winged lion Griffon team also leaves only three horsemen, all to be raised to the king's capital..."
Victor's story determined that the Demon threat had left, even after conducting a massive aerial reconnaissance by the Winged Lions, there had been no trace of the Demons and no raids since the raids suffered by the merchant corps escorted by the Markat Mercenaries. However, on the proposal of the Knights, it was managed to approve, as a minimum means of communication, to leave the winged lion three horsemen.
(Sure, it's a common sense decision to stop dispatching because you can't scout from the sky and find it. But common sense works for the Demons? In the first place, is it right to decide that the Demon threat has left only with reconnaissance from above, even though we don't even know the Demon invasion route? The damage inflicted on the opponent is less than thirty Auga. Not a small number, but not a great deal of damage as an army of invasion operations. Shouldn't we at least do enough to strengthen street security and put in place an emergency dispatch system...)
"What will Lord Hamish think of this decision?
"Right... Ray, let me hear your thoughts"
Ray is surprised by the sudden nomination, and stares at Hamish's face wondering if it was a mistake to hear.
(What! The opponent is the Knights Commander. Isn't what Mr. Hamish normally talks about strangely great people? You're waving that to me...)
"I want your opinion, too. You don't have to worry about titles. You can talk as you like."
(If they say so much, I have to answer. Think from what?... I thought Admiral Y. said that too. The right decision requires the right information and the right analysis… Plus, supplies decide to win or lose until we get to the battlefield. Hungry, fatigued armies and other uses need to be made. Based on that......)
"Ha, yes...... now let me tell you what I think. First of all, this decision is very dangerous"
To Ray's words, which came from denial in the big upper section, the two encourage the conversation to continue with an unexpected face.
"First, we don't know the enemy's invasion route. That means you don't know what size of an army the enemy can send to Turok in how long. We've defeated about thirty orgasms, but is it enough damage to the enemy?
When I make sure they both snort, I keep talking further.
"Honestly, I think it's the right decision to stop dispatching the Knights. But as a reconnaissance force, it's nothing more than blocking your own eyes to triumph over the brilliant Winged Lions."
Victor will be questioning specific policies.
"So how do I do it? Should we just send all the winged lions to Turok?
"I don't know how capable the Winged Lions are of reconnaissance. At least you'll need a system that allows you to patrol the area of Turok at all times during the day. I think we should at least keep a few rides for the King's Landing."
Cut the words here and build momentum.
"As for the power of the war, we need to build a system that allows us to send thousands of troops within fifteen days of the fort being fully tolerated. To do this, I wonder if it is necessary to store more than two months of supplies in Turok, to set up relay points for supplies in hard-proof bridges, to strengthen the security of the streets between Turok and Bridgand, i.e. to increase the escort of the merchant corps to a size of one hundred"
Viktor nods, but points out that there is no consistency between the tolerable duration of the fort and the story of Bridgand's supply base.
"If you're from Fonce to Chulock, there's nothing you can't do in ten days with a heavy squad. I don't think we need to go out of our way to build a relay base in Bridgand."
"I think even winged lions flying in the sky will take three days to reach Fonce from Chulock. Furthermore, considering the period of preparation after being contacted as two days, there are practically only ten days. In that case, the distance travelled around the day would be about 35 km. If the weather is good, it will be possible, but if it rains first from Bridgand, you should consider that the distance travelled around the last hundred and seventy km a day falls below twenty km. So you need to travel fast to the bridge and keep your enemies alert ahead, while keeping fatigue free of travel speed. As soon as we get to the battlefield, we're tired and we can't move, because it doesn't make sense."
Victor shows difficulty in dispatching large units of a thousand men.
"Thousands of people are oversized, too? Why don't we just put a battalion of 300 men ahead of us for now?
"I don't know what the enemy's power is, but if you think an orga will come out just like before this, I wonder if you need five knights for one orga. Last time, there were nearly fifty orgasms, so I think there should have been at least two hundred and fifty times more to frustrate the enemy's intentions to attack, given that the Wing Demons' fighting power is unknown and that if they were attacked while on the move, this one would be severed. Of course, it is possible to reduce the number a little more if the court magicians are also able to travel fast on horseback. But the most important thing to avoid is a gradual injection of force."
To explain the water to Ray's stand, Victor roars with his arms together.
(The power analysis is clear. Five knights against one orga? Sure, you're right, but you have the audacity to call it grandeur to me, the leader of the regiment. A prudence that does not insult the devil tribe as a barbarian. Lord Hamish is so adorable.)
"Lord Hamish, I have a good understanding of your successor. It is possible to increase the reserves of Fort Chulock, but other measures are difficult to adopt. I'm not even sure there's an enemy attack."
"Right. We need a reservoir to store in the bridge, but only a commercial guild can store all that supplies. They won't admit to leaving anything behind."
Ray had heard the words and remembered about his escort assignment until the other day.
(Indeed, the load of carriages should have considered the itinerary after Bridgend. Then we have a chance…)
He suggested odd measures.
"Why don't you suggest this to Bridgand's commercial guild? In an emergency, it's double the price."
I hear the word "double” and Victor becomes a sinister face.
"Then the military budget will be wasted. The Knights budget isn't that luxurious."
Ray, anticipating the answer, laughs and continues the conversation.
"Bridgend is the middle point with Chulock. I don't think it's going to be that damaging because we're replacing the transportation costs in the meantime."
Immediately Hamish, familiar with the merchants, denies it.
"But then the merchants make less money. I don't think we can help with stockpiles."
"For them, leaving it in Fonce's warehouse should be no different than leaving it in Bridgend's warehouse. As for transport costs, we are also reducing the amount loaded on carriages in anticipation of what lies ahead from Bridgand, so it is possible to transport them to Bridgand without additional costs"
(Was this guy looking that far with only one escort? No, it doesn't matter how many times. I guess you always assume a lot......)
If Hamish's heart sounded like Ray, he would have blushed, but he was starting to talk about something else.
When the two of them shut up, Ray checks on the measures he needs most.
"Is it difficult to increase the number of winged lions? Reconnaissance is the most important thing to know as soon as possible."
"It will be difficult. This is an already adjudicated case. There's a good reason to overturn this."
(I guess you don't really know how to use air force. If you have a lot of ground attack power, you can operate centrally, but precisely, it can only be used for “reconnaissance aircraft”. If even a magician were on board, he could be an "attacker"...)
Victor was thinking about the young honorable man in front of him.
(I know very well that Lord Hamish will like it. If I had listened to the current measures long ago... if there were such a man in the Knights' captain... he would be as different from Kilgaroho's stupid son as heaven and earth. Not only is he incompetent, he's harmful. If Lord Hamish hadn't been forced to follow me this time, I might have lost such an excellent man... once I stabbed the nail, but no more, would I stab the nail once now to keep my hands off the Mercenaries)
"Ray, there was so much to ask about your suggestion. Lord Hamish, when did you find such a competent young man?"
"My daughter has come to find me," Hamish replies, laughing.
Then, after a buzz about the martial arts and about an hour of bickering, the two followed the royal castle.
