Episode 34: Policies in Imperial Capital

May 21.

The Rays were able to enter the Imperial Capital Plymouth with the Blacksmith Guild's Ezarrington Branch Manager, Ivan Kemp.

The confirmation at the castle gate also passes fine, he is introduced to the inn near the branch at the blacksmith's guild, and he enters the room to remove his gear.

However, only Luna and Ione remain intact in the Blacksmith Guild, with Ray being Uno of Ashley, Stella, Ryan and the Beast Slave.

After removing the gear, before heading to the banquet at the Blacksmith Guild, discuss the "coding” of the Beast Slave Squad that Uno has reported.

Although the Empire has no in-laws, Ray intends to keep some kind of hand on account of the fact that the Beast Slave Troops could also be restricted in their actions if they insinuate and their disgust at the way of light theism.

Then I come up with a measure and explain it to Ashley and others.

"I just remembered when I went through a place called Triumph, and I'm thinking about getting the Deoddard Chamber of Commerce to work with me. I think Mr. Deoddard will be on our side because he has a terrible eye for light godliness."

"Deoddard Chamber of Commerce?" and Ryan leans his neck.

Ray briefly explains the situation to Ryan and Uno.

"Me and Ash got to know a guy named Loris Deoddard, the previous president of the Chamber of Commerce at Deoddard. The man was Stella's husband, and he died on his journey... Mr. Deoddard relied on light divinity when his wife fell ill, but only the money was taken away and his wife ended up dead"

"That's a story. But I guess I've never seen him face to face with a guy who works here at a branch? So you're gonna give me a hand with this?

"I'll probably be fine with that. He nominated me as one of his heirs when Mr. Deoddard died. To get Stella to take over. I still have the will of that time. Mr. Deoddard was admired by the people at the Chamber of Commerce, and I'm guessing the branch manager here won't go under. Well, if you can't, you just have to think of another hand."

"You sure do. But even if you ask for help, how do you get it to work?

I'm going to talk to Ashley about the ideas I came up with.

"First, tell them where the Beast Slave Squad will use it to break in and have it circulated as a rumor. Of course, after we leave. I heard rumors that if the Imperial Army searches, Luke's commander will decide it's dangerous and withdraw."

Ashley nods, but turns her gaze to Uno.

"Lord Uno, may I pass that information on to us?

She was concerned that she would be forced to betray her country.

"That's right. I didn't think about Uno..."

But Uno himself never hesitated at all.

"No problem. It is in my mission to obey the orders of Lord Arklight."

That's what they said, but Ray is more hesitant to be strong in his act of betraying his country.

"I think I should ask Mr. Uno, too. It's better for Luke."

Stella affirms so.

"It's gonna be good for Luke? What do you mean?"

Stella nodded small at Ray's inquiry and began to explain.

"He said the idea now is to consolidate protection because Luke is going to attack. If, here, Luke executes and succeeds in the assassination of dignitaries, the Empire will react violently and the war will intensify. In that case, it is clear that the people of Luke will be sacrificed. Besides, even if you exposed your way out here, it's easy to get out with as many arms as Uno and the others. So no one gets hurt. We should do all of Ray's measures."

Ray thought for a moment about what to do with her explanation, but quickly concluded.

"Stella's right. Excuse me, Mr. Uno, but can you tell me where you can infiltrate from?

Uno said, "Your will,"

"There are two infiltration routes I know of. One location will be the route from the sewer into the shops in the West End. The other location is near the third water bridge on the east wall. We have heard that sewer routes were mainly used for emergency escape and often used water bridge inspection openings"

The imperial capital is equipped with water and sewer made of earthly attribute magic.

The water supply is drawn from the eastern gorge, which crosses the walls into the city's water storage tower, from which it is supplied to each door.

The sewer is flowing from each door towards the sea, and there is a purification facility using slime just outside of Teito.

To treat rainwater as well, the sewer is a huge tunnel high enough for people to stand and walk, stretched all over the Empire City.

Both water and sewer intruders have been taken care of, but Luke's Beastman unit was working on several of them, and using them had made intrusion possible.

The reason the sewer is used for escape is the smell problem. The smell stains your clothes and body because it travels across a few km (Kimmel) of sewer that smells bad. If a human is his opponent, he can be deluded to some extent over time, but if he has a beast man with a good nose, he could be found in the smell. Also, the nose of an infiltrating beast slave can be too good, which is one reason why he doesn't want to use it other than in an emergency.

"I wonder if it's possible to explain that I stumbled across an infiltration route on the water side."

"Then tell him about the water supply and let him rumor it. Just in case, if you tell them about the sewer, Luke's side should pull it up once and for all."

The Ashleys had no objection to that policy either, so this story ended and they decided to head to the Blacksmith Guild.

Many Dwarves were heard having fun in the Blacksmith Guild building. Looks like the banquet has already begun in the assembly room, and the Rays rush into the building.

"You're with Luna. This way, please," one male employee said, waiting for the Rays. He is immediately led to the assembly room and enters the banquet.

Luna and Ione sat in front of Ivan and the imperial branch chief-like figure, tilting the jock.

"Oh, that was late," Luna says, a little drunk.

"I have a little something for the wild......" Ray says, turning to Ivan and saying "sorry I'm late" and bowing his head.

"You don't have to worry. than that. You've decided what to do with the example thing," says Ivan,

"Yeah, I'll take care of it tomorrow," he replies.

Later, he greeted Gunter Fink and others, the branch director of the Imperial Branch, and the Rays began drinking in earnest as well.

Ray didn't talk about Luke's intelligence unit because he didn't know how far the Gunters were listening, and he ended up talking about booze, cooking, etc.

"By the way, we're going to Phyllobisher, and we're going from Cheslock to Jillthor, but Phyllobisher also happens to have business. Why don't you come with me?"

Gunter tells Luna.

Luna, like Ivan, gets her eyeballs hot when she goes out of her way to make errands for herself.

"Thank you...... I'd love to join you"

"You don't have to look like that. Just go check out the distillery in Phyllobisher. It's been four years since I started distilling. We were just talking about encouraging the craftsmen and going out for a drink with some of them."

In Gunter's description, distillation began in Phyllobisher at the end of May 3022, four years ago. The "rams” made there are all bought by the Dwarves of the Empire City.

The other Dwarves also put up jocks,

"I've had this guy's four years. That's what I decided to do."

Ray looked at the look with a smile.

(You really like alcohol. But I drank it earlier, but I don't think it's too tight and delicious. With that said, what kind of booze is rum...)

Speaking of that question, Luna said, "Oh, you didn't know? There's something even the white master doesn't know," he teases.

I could see the look on his face forcing him to laugh, and Ray also knew that he dared to say that so as not to zero tears in the Gunters' care.

"Does Luna know?," I said to put it aside,

"Of course I do. It's impossible that the Lockhart people don't know how to make distilled liquor... huhuhuhuhu..."

"Of course not. It can't be that the Lockhart people don't know the Rams. Gahahahaha," the Dwarves laugh, too.

The banquet lasted until late at night, when Ray, as usual, drained alcohol with the magic of detoxification.

Opening and returning to the inn, Luna, a drunken addition and subtraction, will be discussing her plans for tomorrow.

"I'm going to ask you to go to the commercial district and get rumors out of Luke's Beastman Slave Squad. What about you? I was supposed to gather information in Imperial City."

"For once, I've only just heard a rough overview of what you can hear in the guild. He said the war with Luke is going to be after the summer. Rumor has it that the officials of the Holy King's Palace are against it."

"After the summer...... So, what do we do tomorrow?

"I'm going to the commercial district, too. I have a Lockhart family and a Chamber of Commerce specializing in itchy foods, so I'm going to listen there. I'm buying cocoa from Cheslock, so I think I know what's going on over there."

"It's really a strange house, isn't it, the Lockhart family," said Ray, half-hearted by Luna's explanation,

"My guards were impressed with martial arts when I entered the Imperial Capital, and there will always be talk of alcohol. Now you're talking about cocoa at the Chamber of Commerce specializing in food... and Zach is involved."

"Yeah, that's right. That guy and I made the first chocolate in the world. There's a lot more to it... well fine. So tomorrow we're going to go to the commercial district together and do something else there."

Luna remembered the old days but quickly changed the subject forcefully to shake it off her head. Ray noticed that, too, and didn't go deep.

"Me and Ash, Stella are going to the Deodard Chamber of Commerce, but I don't think it's going to take that long. We should rendezvous somewhere and talk about whether we should hit the gathering of information together in the circumstances then. I hope so."

"If it won't take long, maybe we can join you. 'Cause it's more trouble to rendezvous later."

"Well, that's what I'm talking about," I said and finished the story.

The next morning, after breakfast, a single carriage came to the inn. A passenger carriage with a blacksmith's guild crest on its body.

"I thought you might be headed to the commercial district," explains a male employee about thirty.

"Mr. Alan went out of his way? Are you sure?

The male employee is called Alan Mold, and Luna explains to the Rays that he has also come to Lasmore as a branch manager and head of distilled liquor manufacturing.

"Yeah, I thought sometimes it would be quicker for me to accompany you..."

It is explained that the blacksmith guild's head of distillery liquor manufacturing has a strong influence on the commercial guild.

"... there are voices from various chambers of commerce that want us to turn it around as a product even in small quantities. We haven't been able to secure enough to turn to the most non-imperial branches yet, so we haven't been able to meet your request, because unlike the village of Rasmore and the Kingdom of Kaum, the southern part of the Empire can be commercialized in a short period of time."

"Commercialized in a short time? I heard Scotch couldn't sell if he didn't let him sleep for more than three years," Ashley asks unexpectedly.

"Exactly. However, there is no such thing as scotch, brandy, or distilled liquor that doesn't call itself carbatos. Phyllobisher's lamb is one of them."

"Really......" Ashley is convinced, but Ray can't be added to the story.

"Let's talk about this much and head to the commercial district. Alan, please."

When Luna says so, Alan bows his head and tells him where to go.

"First to the Deoddard Chamber of Commerce"

The Rays took a blacksmith guild carriage to the commercial district.
