Lesson 58: The Red Arms Departure

Time goes back about two months.

On May 1, Alberic Auger, deputy secretary of the Mercenary Corps of Markat (Red Arms), returned to Fonce, king's capital of the Kingdom of Lax, where the mercenary corps headquarters are located.

I just walked into mercenary regiment headquarters and said, "Welcome back, Mr. Al!" or "Safe and above all," etc.

Alberic headed for the report under Hamish Markat, the head of the regiment, answering it "just ~" in the usual light.

In addition to Hamish, his wife and captain of the Fifth Squad, Valeria, and captain of the Most Squad, Gareth Ayling, were waiting in the captain's office.

"Well back," Hamish greets him, but soon realizes he is alone and looks anxious.

"What happened to the Ashes? confirm."

Alberic stayed at Fort Toa, the main stronghold of the Kaum kingdom, to welcome his beloved daughter Ashley to the land of the Devil known as the Eternal Darkness (Kwaedam Tenebre).

That's why I thought something might have happened to Ashley or Ray.

"Those kids are safe," he replies with his usual floating look, but Hamish stuffs with a crease between his eyebrows saying, "Why aren't we together?"

"Let's talk to Brother Al first," Valeria takes in, but she is concerned about herself, Ashley, who was adorable as her sister.

"Well, I'll tell you what I heard from you and Ash, Ray."

So Gareth stops "wait". When Hamish and Valeria look suspicious,

"Haven't you gotten a letter or a report from Ray? I think he's preparing something."

So the Hamish also recall Alberic's character. If it's his personality, he tries to talk funny and crazy and realizes that the facts may not be communicated.

"Oh, I'm getting it. But I think you'd know better if I told you. That would be more interesting for me too..."

So the three of them simultaneously said, "" Let me see the letter (please) ".

"That's boring," Alberic says, handing Hamish the letter he deposited from Ray.

"He said he didn't write a personal name or a race name because he had to lose it. That's why I have to talk."

No one responds to Alberic's words and reads Ray's letter.

The letter contemplated the loss, and Luna's name was not written, and he wrote more about those who possessed the Demon Nation simply as “leaders”.

After reading through in about five minutes, Valeria asks the question on her behalf.

"That the leader is the son of the moon”? I'm sure it was named Luna, Ray, the one you chased after. "

"That's right. She's back here safe and sound."

"I'm talking about the evil gods trying to destroy this world, but you're talking about the Nothingness (Vanitas). Are you going to fight Vanitas? He's a god, isn't he? Are you serious?

"Sounds serious. So it looks like we headed to Jilsol, and I wanted to go with him, but I just had no choice but to come back because Hamish would be mad at me if I didn't get back here once."

"Naturally," Hamish said with a flashing look.

"I wonder what's in Jill Saul? The letter says there was a revelation, do you hear about it?

"That sounded like neither Ray nor Luna could tell. It's like we're just saying that if we go to the temple of the beginning, we'll find out what it is."

"That is. So you had to rush to the temple at the beginning of Jilsall. That was a situation. So the Ashes didn't come back."

Alberic answered Hamish's question with his shoulders clasped.

"That sort of thing. I said I should go back to Fonce once, but it seems like I don't have that much time."

"Do you fight Vanitas in Zirsol..."

"Come on, what about that? It was like I just figured something out."

"Because you're going to fight ahead? I hear there's going to be a big war between the Empire and Lukes. Maybe you'll get caught up in it..."

Gareth nods at Hamish's whining.

"When we were talking about God tangling, the Light God people said what a miracle of God was. As always, I didn't know what to say, but maybe it's linked to the movements of the outgoing lay."

Here in Fonce, too, the priests of Phototheism spread stories about "the miracle of God happens" and "God is manifested".

Hamish knew the story, too, but he thought the Luke Holy King was just trying to burn down the Kingdom of Lax to fight the Empire.

"Either way, I see that the Ashes are trying to challenge a battle with a thin chance of winning"

Hamish puts his arms together and thinks with a look like he chewed up a bitter bug when he says so.

"Let's go help those kids," Valeria suggests.

"No..." Hamish tries to deny,

"You really wanted to go beyond Aquila to Kwaedam Tenebre. But I gave up because there's something about everyone in the regiment..."

Say that and stare Hamish in the eye firmly.

"... Now we're going to help as a family. Then there's no problem."

When Ray followed Luna over Aquila, Hamish was leading the mercenaries as captain of the Demonic Pursuit Squad and could not be accompanied. Despite sending my beloved daughter to a dangerous land, I was itching to the point where I could only wait.

Valeria knew so painfully that she was watching up close that this time she suggested going to help.

"Let the captains take care of the regiment. Of course, I'll follow you. 'Cause the Fifth Squad is in Dougal's hands."

"Let me come with you. I'll leave the squad to someone," Gareth said, hoping to accompany him.

"I didn't say I was going yet. Plus, there's the contract. It's not something to say lightly."

"If you're talking about a contract, you can leave it to the Alliance Master (Mr. Duke)! That's why she's fighting for her life! What would you do if you lost her for that!

Hamish also wandered over Valeria's sword curtain.

"Valeria's right. It's a miracle you're back from Kwaedam Tenebre. When I think about Periclitle and Miles Valley, I think I should go."

Rarely, Alberic was trying to persuade Hamish with a serious eye and sincere tone, rather than the usual light tone.

"This guy is the leader's loser. And it's obvious that not only me, but also Captain Two (Zenga) and Captain Three (Lazareth) are going with me. I think we should talk to everyone in the regiment."

Valeria and Alberic nod loudly at Gareth's words.

Hamish makes his expression even more rugged,

"Okay. Gather those who are here. Talk to me."

That night, Hamish assembled the Red Arms mercenaries and told them he was headed to help the Rays. Exactly. I'm not talking about fighting evil gods too magnificent, but I'm talking about the possibility of fighting powerful enemies.

"I haven't heard much from Ray, but he seems very involved in a big story. I don't know if I can help. But I want to go help my family."

So the mercenaries stood up one after the other and said, "Take me with you!" The voice goes up.

Hamish raised his hands to quell it,

"You can't take them all. Plus, it's money, and I don't know when I'll be back. No, it's more likely you won't be able to come back. Whoever has a family, think of his wife and children..."

There were a few mercenaries who dropped their shoulders disappointingly at the words. The Marcut Mercenaries were mostly single, but had a few wives.

"As soon as the 2nd and 3rd squads who are paying return, recruit the hopeful. The departure is half a month later, I'm thinking May 16th..."

So I looked around at them all and asked them to be prepared with a temperamental voice.

"I'll say it again! The next enemy is more powerful than ever. It shouldn't be the ratio of Millis Valley, Pericritle or Aquila. Do that with your lunch box. Take only those who are prepared to do so. Recruit the hopeful the day before departure. Until then, think carefully."

After Squad Two and Squad Three returned, Hamish talked the same way.

Zenga Ormiga, captain of 2nd Squad, the Beast Man, hopes to accompany him in his usual prolonged way of talking, "Oh, don't bother leaving me.

"If you're going south, I should go with you," the captain of the third squad, former adventurer Lazareth Dawell, also said with a laugh. It's rare for a member of the Marcut Mercenary Corps, who has barely left the Kingdom of Lax, because he was once in imperial territory during his adventurous years.

Duke Selzam, director of the Fonce branch of the mercenary guild, listens from Hamish and puts up his face.

If Hamish leaves the kingdom, it is certain that very few Red Arms mercenaries will remain. As a guild, it is visible that we will have difficulty filling that hole because the best mercenary regiment in the Kingdom of Lax will be disbanded or greatly reduced.

"I can't help but smile right away if you decide..."

"I'll take care of the rest. Help Ash and Ray," he slapped Hamish on the shoulder with a basin.

"I'm sorry," Hamish apologized.

"But come back. I'm not stuck without you guys."

That's what I say and laugh luxuriously. Hamish left the guild behind while thanking his best friend for his care.

He then visited Count Victor Rockletter, head of the Knights of the Springs, and told him he was leaving the kingdom.

Rockletter was surprised by the story, but knowing Hamish's determination was firm, he decided to send it off with pleasure.

"I'm so sorry, but I can't help you if it's to help your son and Ray. I'd like to join you if possible..."

So I took Hamish's hand,

"If you're going to need the power of the kingdom, say what! Not only Lord Hamish, but Ray owes me a great deal. With the help not only of me, but also of Lord Braveburn and Lord Kilgaroho, we will not be able to move the kingdom."

Hamish was so impressed by the words of the rock letter that he could only bow his head by saying, "Thank you......"

May 15.

Hamish assembled not only mercenaries, but all those who belonged to the Marcut mercenary corps, including horses, cooks, etc.

"As I've already said, I'm leaving this regiment. If anyone wants to follow me, I want you to come to my room later... I'm going to leave this headquarters to those who stay. I leave the rest to Duke, so don't worry about anything..."

I gave a brief explanation and headed to the captain's office.

Valeria and Alberic were waiting in the captain's office.

"How long do you think it'll be coming?" Alberic asks Valeria.

"About half, maybe sixty? 'Cause there are a lot of kids out there who say this is their hometown."

"I think a hundred or so people are coming. 'Cause there's so much to like here."

"Brother Al says that? The man who loves things isn't Brother Al."

"Really? I think you prefer Valeria, who married Hamish to me."

Hamish hasn't broken his serious look while listening to that.

Waiting came Gareth Ayling and four other captains.

"We'll follow the captain. Let me come with you."

When Gareth said that on behalf of him, Hamish held his temples,

"Who's going to take over this place when all of you get here?

"Duke's father says he'll see it for the moment. I'm asking you to take care of the rest of them."

"Duke did? The Branch Manager (Alliance Master) will take care of you directly..."

"There are thirty left. I made a list here because it takes time to get each and every one of them to come"

Hamish says "thirty…" to the number of people.

"Oh, that makes a hundred and two, including us. Al, you're right."

Valeria says that and regrets it, but Hamish ignores it and asks Gareth, "I guess I'm not forcing you," to intensify his rhetoric.

"Of course it is. Because it was harder to convince him to stay," Lazareth replies with a laugh.

"I thought I said lunch box. Whatever you guys are going to do, how are you going to eat the 7th and 8th grade youngsters..."

"We'll take care of that. There's a good amount of money in there since last year's Demon Crusade."

When Elias Nifer of Squad Four says so,

"We're going down the street. You will have a request for an escort. When it comes to the Red Arms undertaking cheap, the merchants will be happy to ask for it."

Gareth adds that.

"Give it up, Hamish. 'Cause we all want to go together."

Hamish tried to say it back to Alberic's words, but immediately laughed, "I'm just stupid".
