Thousands of ghost beetles swarmed into the room. The dense numbers made their scalps tingle. These little creatures were even more troublesome to them than the skinners!

It was unexpected.

Instead of swarming toward them, the ghost-worker beetles pounced directly on the flayers, tearing their bodies apart with their razor-sharp jaws.

"I hacked into their control center."

Nono's voice rang in their ears, "The map of the entire city is now under my control. Follow the ghost beetles, they will lead us to our destination."

Hiss~!

Dozens of ghost beetles gathered in front of them in a simple arrow shape and crawled forward, apparently guiding them in the direction.

Sicarius couldn't help but look at Noah and asked:

"Sir Noah, what exactly are we looking for?"

Noah glanced at him and did not hide anything:

“The engine of the world’s engine.”

Chapter 173 Undead Overlord: CNM!

boom!

The underworld beetles rustled as they crawled on the ground, guiding Noah and his companions through the room.

Finally, in a closed room, the beetle climbed up the wall and cut the wall with its sharp jaws, cutting out an arched 'door'.

boom!

The cut parts fell to the ground with a loud bang, and the ghost beetles quickly scattered. They circled on the ceiling and finally formed a symbol.

"What is that?" Sicarius asked, staring at the symbol.

"Help." Nono said softly.

Noah drilled into the wall, and the underworld beetle was still leading the way for them.

This seems to be a maintenance passage for the Necron tomb, but it has obviously been forgotten and abandoned, with thick dust everywhere.

The road was long, much longer than any they had traveled before.

Sicarius didn't know where this road led to, but he was sure that it must be going deeper underground, and that this would help them avoid the enemies they were supposed to encounter along the way.

Following the winding passage, some light was finally seen ahead, which was a flashing explosion in the dark night.

They appeared at the bottom of the canyon. There were many similar 'caves' on the cliffs on both sides of the canyon, which were connected by maze-like winding and interconnected passages.

The ground was littered with rusty Necrons that had been abandoned due to years of disrepair, some exposed on the surface, some embedded deep in the gullies, but they were all broken.

Even the surrounding buildings have collapsed and been abandoned, and have become dilapidated after tens of millions of years of corrosion.

Apparently, a terrible war had broken out at the bottom of the canyon, and even in this 'world'.

The ghost worker beetle was still leading the way for them, and they could already see the destination of this journey -

It was a huge pyramid-shaped building with special Necromancer characters engraved on it. Although its appearance was not much different from other Necromancer buildings, it was larger than any Necromancer building they had ever seen.

Directly facing them, there was a black door on the pyramid.

The sky was raining bloody rain containing rust, and everything around seemed to be corroded by the bloody rain that had been falling for thousands or tens of thousands of years. But the huge pyramid was the only one that had no signs of damage or corrosion, and it shone brightly in the continuous rain and fog.

Loud explosions continued to be heard above the canyon. Other teams were destroying the energy nodes of the Undead city and the facilities that were supplying power to the shields and air defense arrays.

“What is that?” Sicarius asked.

He didn't know what was in the pyramid-shaped building, just as he didn't know how Nono controlled these alien creations. If the people of the Mechanicus knew about this heretical behavior, it would be enough for her to be hunted down by the Mechanicus throughout the galaxy.

Sicarius certainly wouldn't report Nono, and he believed that no one else would either.

But now that he's here, he must know what they are doing, right?

Noah pondered for a moment and explained briefly:

"That is a temple that imprisoned the former god of the Necrons, the Star God."

Sicarius frowned and asked:

"But didn't you say we were looking for the engine of the world engine?"

"The Engine is the god of the Necrons. The Necrons defeated and imprisoned the C'tan, using their fragments as a power source."

Sicarius' frown deepened.

Although he sneered at the so-called gods believed in by the aliens, he used his own gods as a source of energy. This alien called Necromancer was really weird!

Amrad asked, "Is it related to the Warp?"

Using gods as 'energy sources' reminded him of the demon engine.

Isn't the Chaos Space Marine's Demon Engine powered by demons?

Although these demons are far from being gods, the descriptions of the two are very similar.

"No, it has nothing to do with the Warp. The Necrons' technology is almost purely physical."

Sicarius asked:

"What about the Star God?"

"You can understand the gods of the physical universe as some kind of powerful energy life forms."

Noah explained as he said, "We need to speed up. The Necrons will definitely try to stop us."

Sicarius remained silent.

The Necrons weren't trying to stop them, they were already stopping them.

When they appeared in the canyon, the Necrons had obviously discovered their presence and realized their purpose. A large number of Necrons were gathering at the bottom of the canyon, and the floating pumice tower in the sky was flying towards them.

"Communications restored."

Luke said in a deep voice, "I have already notified the other regiments. All the nearby teams are heading towards us!"

A river of liquid metal rushed through the canyon, completely dividing the two sides.

They were on one side of the great pyramid, and most of the Necrons were on the other side, with thousands of Necrons trying to build a bridge to carry the Necrons over.

The undead units equipped with anti-gravity engines, along with countless ghost beetles, have already flown over.

Noah had already arrived at the steps of the temple. The three-meter-high steps were obviously not prepared for ordinary people, not even for the Necrons, whose height was not much taller than humans.

The underworld beetles gathered underfoot to form a slope, connecting the upper and lower steps, leading all the way to the platform at the top of the steps.

The Soul Drinkers took the lead to guard against possible dangers on the platform.

The Star Knights were in the center, providing cover for Noah and the others.

The Ultramarines were at the back, using bolter and plasma to deal with the incoming swarms of Scarabs. As they fired, they retreated up the Scarabs' ramp and climbed up the temple in one step.

Bang bang bang bang!

Hundreds of necromancer beetles were hit by the barrage of explosives, exploding in the air and falling to the ground in flaming debris, but the remaining numbers still covered the sky, like a swarm of greedy locusts swarming towards a farmer's crops.

"Let one come over here." Nuonuo reminded.

In fact, she didn't need to remind him, because even if the Extreme Marines' bolter souls were extremely excited, they couldn't seal off the entire airspace.

A large number of ghost beetles broke through the Ultramarines' fire blockade and flew straight towards the others who were climbing the stairs.

The firepower of the Astral Knights and Soul Drinkers intercepted most of the Hellworker Beetles, but one was deliberately missed. It stumbled over and tried to rush towards Noah, but was pinned to the ground by Cassia's psychic power, as if a huge rock was pressing on its back and it could not move.

Nuonuo squatted down, stroked the ghost beetle with his palm, and whispered:

"Machine Spirit, please listen to my voice!"

Binary chanting wasn't necessary, but she was used to it.

It makes sense that everything has a soul.

Even if they don't have spirits, she can give them souls.

Snapped!

In an instant, it was as if the power was turned off, and all the ghost beetles fell from the sky.

But after a moment, they flew back into the sky.

They still covered the sky and the earth, but this time they did not swarm towards Noah and his companions. Instead, with a deafening buzzing sound, they flew straight towards the locust destroyers in the sky!

The Necrons had obviously noticed their betrayal, and the green energy beams penetrated dozens of ghost beetles, breaking down their bodies layer by layer. But there were still ghost beetles flying in front of them, using particle decomposers to completely disintegrate them in a very short time!

The Terminator veterans lowered their guns silently; they were not needed here for the time being.

On the platform at the top of the steps, there is a rectangular door.

It was pitch black inside, but one could vaguely see thousands of neatly arranged undead structures, reflecting a cold light in the darkness!

They appear taller and more ornate than other Necrons, with a layer of silver armor covering their skeletal bodies. Their weapons are similar to Gauss-Splitters, but more refined.

Clearly, these are the elite units of the Necrons!

The Soul Drinker raised his gun and was about to shoot, but was stopped by Noah.

Sicarius also climbed the stairs at this time. He asked in a deep voice:

"Why aren't they moving?"

"Because we haven't gone in yet."

Nono said, "They are immortals. You can think of them as the elite force of the Necrons. Their mission is to guard the temple, and they will not leave until someone actively activates them."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

As soon as Sicarius asked, he heard a lot of buzzing noises.

In the sky, thousands of Darkworker Beetles roared into the halls of the temple, devouring the Immortals before they could wake up, although many Immortals woke up in time and shot at the Darkworker Beetles with their finely crafted Gauss guns.

But there are just too many of them!

The Necrons are too technologically advanced, and these ghost worker beetles will devour everything in their path.

When they were still slaves of the Necrons, they would faithfully serve the Necrons and destroy all enemies of the Necrons. But when they served Nono, they would also faithfully destroy any Necrons.

Sicarius suddenly felt ridiculous.

These damn alien creatures were originally here to kill them, but now they are helping them destroy the enemy's defenses.

As the buzzing of the ghost beetles faded away, Noah stepped into the temple.

Without the protection of the Necron Immortals, the hall seemed particularly empty, with a ceiling so high that one could get lost in the darkness.

It is a temple, a tomb, and a prison.

This magnificent building was embedded deeply in the crust of the World Engine. The sounds of the battle outside the temple gradually became inaudible, leaving only the dull footsteps of the Terminator Armor on the metal floor.

In the distance came the humming and gauss beams of the Scarabs. They were still fighting, but the Scarabs were gaining the upper hand. These Necrons were being annihilated by their minions, just as they had always been.

Black metal made up most of the temple, with glowing circuits all over it.

On either side are rows of silver columns, and the walls are carved with exquisite reliefs depicting the history of the Necron Dynasty.

But what is truly important is the hall in the center of the temple.

In the center of the hall is an altar, upon which stands a huge obelisk covered with necromancy writing.

The prison guards had been slaughtered by the ghost beetles, and all that remained was deathly silence.

Amrad looked around for a long time and said in a deep voice:

"There's nothing here!"

"underground."

Nono said softly.

The surviving underworld beetles quickly gathered on the ground and gnawed away all the metal on the ground, revealing an entrance leading underground.

"I'll do it." Sicarius said in a deep voice and walked forward slowly.

But before he jumped down the hole, he heard the angry roar of the Undead Overlord behind him:

"Stop! Human!"
