『Dream Shattered』

The Art of Writing Volume is my attempt at original content. How should I put it? I have the idea, but my writing skills don't support it. But at least I finished it despite the difficulties and pressure (I don't know when I will take such a risk to write an original plot next time). The next volume is the Crazy Rice Volume. I will start it after I take a two-day break to recover.

Chapter 251 Prologue: Vicious escalation! Shinjuku

2023-07-29

The towering spires pierced the sky, casting shadows that enveloped the entire city in darkness.

However, there was no need for any high-rise shadows to be cast, the city was already shrouded in fog. The faint moonlight from the dark clouds could only vaguely reveal the outline of the moon, and the weak fluorescence was not enough to support the illumination of the city. This night city was already particularly dazzling with the bright lights of neon.

The smell of alcohol and nicotine intertwined in the air to form an alluring smell of corruption, and bloodstains and the remains of unknown dolls could be seen everywhere.

This is the city of indulgence in desire, Shinjuku where people are willing to sink forever.

Shin-chome.

The rumbling sound of engines roared between the tall buildings, and red and black light and shadows rushed across the empty streets.

The motorcycle passed by, and if you looked carefully, you could vaguely see that it seemed to be dragging something at the end of the motorcycle. As the motorcycle moved forward, a winding bloody trail was left behind on its way.

Driving at such a high speed, not to mention the person being dragged, even the driver would probably be blinded by the oncoming strong wind and the rapidly moving streets. But unfortunately, the person driving this motorcycle was not an ordinary person.

After another turn, a black shadow suddenly descended from the roof of the building, and the huge shadow brought a whistling wind and landed right in front of the motorcycle.

At such a high speed, trying to change direction temporarily by adjusting the front of the car will only result in the destruction of the car and the death of people, but if you rush straight forward, you will only be hit hard by the black shadow.

So the driver suddenly stretched out his right leg, and his foot kicked hard on the national road. A shallow pit was immediately sunken down on the ground. Cracks appeared from the side of the pothole and quickly spread to the surrounding area.

The rubbing of the toes against the ground caused sparks to rise, but gradually the motorcycle stopped.

Only then could we see that the object connecting the rear of the car was not a chain or a steel cable as imagined, but a part of the driver's body.

It was a bunch of pure black thick tail wrapped in distinct layers like reptile scales, but the horny horns exploded at the tip of the tail, forming crimson spikes.

At this time, the sharp spike was piercing the abdominal cavity of a human body, dragging it out.

The tip of its tail turned its body over, and the blurred flesh on its back vaguely revealed the white broken bones. There was no head on the body, and the incision from the neck upwards was smooth and flat. Any doctor would have declared the body dead without hesitation, but it was indeed still alive.

boom--!

The heavy object hit the national highway, causing a tremor that accelerated the spread of the surrounding cracks. The shadow revealed his true appearance—it was a giant wolf with blue-green fur.

Compared with its kind, this wolf is really too big. Its body, as strong as a freight truck, looks like a burning ghost fire under the neon lights.

Such a huge physique is extremely rare even in the age of gods, even if it is called a wolf king, it is not an exaggeration.

But such a powerful beast is willing to be the mount of the headless horseman behind him.

——The urban legend is about riding a motorcycle on the streets at night, but it is paired with such a strange mount.

However, as a motorcycle rider, he has no right to say anything about this guy.

"Tsk, are you here so soon?"

Across the car, the white-haired man with two horns cast a disgusted glance at this headless body. He captured the headless man on the wolf's back in order to deal with the wolf king in front of him, but he didn't expect this guy to actually Came so fast.

“But it’s still too late.”

The deep red chaotic eyes were filled with unpleasant cruelty. His tail shot towards the headless knight who had fallen to the ground. The tail spike quickly pierced the weak human body. The surging magic power that erupted from the tip of the tail tore the already broken body into pieces the next moment.

He proudly turned his gaze back to the wolf king in front of him who had troubled him time and time again, but the only response he got was the giant wolf raising its claws.

The wolf king, on all fours, crossed a distance of hundreds of meters almost at the moment the knight's tail shot out. His sharp claws, as long as a human head, carried cold air and blocked all the space for him to hide.

The claws were sharp enough to break through scales - this was the experience gained from the first fight with the Wolf King.

Raising his hands, black scales instantly covered his palms, transforming human palms into even more terrifying beast claws.

The two pairs of claws overlapped and made a clanging sound like metal interlacing.

The wolf king stood up, pressed down with his two front paws, and the fishy-smelling wolf kiss approached the white-haired knight's throat little by little.

But it was this short distance that made it difficult for it to move. Its tail entangled the knight from behind and pressed against the wolf king's kiss. The scene was deadlocked for a moment.

But only the knight knew that He could not hold on for too long. The spiritual base that contained Him was somehow incomplete, as if His vitality had been overdrawn in advance and was only superficial.

He stared at the wolf's kiss that was getting closer and closer, and his heart sank.

The Wolf King did not disappear with the Dullahan as He expected. Was it a matter of time? Or was it——

There was no time to think so much, the knight pursed his lips, and his hands began to tremble uncontrollably.

——Is it really too much of a stretch at this stage?

He thought that if he was just the owner of this body or a complete him, he would be able to easily subdue the beast in front of him, but unfortunately -

——In order to maintain a certain degree of self-defense capability in this chaotic city, He has retained certain self-functions of this body.

'I can only hope that the current chaos can wake me up again.'

He held on to his body tightly, but out of the corner of his eye he caught a glimpse of a falling figure in the distant sky.

His deep red pupils turned and he saw the man's figure clearly. After comparing it with the figure in his memory, he came to the same conclusion.

Chaldeas, finally here.

The tail that was wrapped around the wolf's mouth suddenly loosened, and the wolf's head, which lost resistance in an instant, suddenly jumped out but also lost its aim. The knight tilted his head slightly and his canine teeth pierced into his shoulder.

Before the wolf king could react, his tail instantly touched the motorcycle again.

He injected all his magic power into the engine and it roared again, rushing forward with the man and the wolf on board.

"Go away!"

He pushed upward with both claws and forced the giant wolf off the front of the car.

A short wolf howl was heard behind him. The knight had no time to look back. With the opponent's speed, it was only a matter of time for it to catch up.

But, as long as I have a [companion], that’s enough, right?

The corners of his mouth stretched to the sides, gradually spreading out into a ferocious arc.

The story of this chapter has not been unfolded yet, it is just an introduction (I am really not good at writing this), and I plan to write a short story about Shinjuku, about 10 to 15 chapters, and then this volume will mainly focus on the daily life of Chaldea and the interlude of Jutsu, Mi, and Gun.

Chapter 252 Just Run Faster Than Your Companions (Optional)

2023-07-29

Shinjuku.

Even though I'm a newcomer, I can smell the corruption in every corner of this city.

Standing in the middle of the gangsters lying on the ground, Fujimaru Ritsuka pursed his lips and looked around warily.

"Nice command, young lady."

An old man wearing an exaggerated and gorgeous dress that looked like a butterfly walked slowly over. He moved among the gangsters, approaching Fujimaru Ritsuka with brisk but elegant steps.

But Fujimaru Ritsuka did not dare to treat the "rich old man" in front of her who looked like she could be knocked down with a single punch, as she would treat an ordinary old man. She had just seen with her own eyes how the man shot bullets from the coffin-like weapon he was carrying behind him and annihilated the magicians all over the ground.

"But how can you, who have solved the problem of burning human principles, move forward in this [Hell]?" The old man raised his lips and revealed a not very gentle smile: "Here, a kind person like you can hardly move an inch."

"What on earth is going on here?"

Fujimaru Ritsuka spoke. In her impression, Shinjuku was not much different from the city at this moment, but it did not have such strong malice.

"Of course, I will tell you the peculiarities here—why the good people cannot survive and why the evil people will not be punished. But before we discuss this, I want to make a deal with you first."

"Transaction?" Fujimaru Ritsuka suddenly became alert.

"In the previous battle, you tried to summon a Servant, but failed, right? And the Servant that came with you also disappeared, leaving you as a Master without a Servant to command."

Fujimaru Ritsuka did not hide the fact that the noise she made when she summoned her servants previously was not small, and it was impossible for the servants in front of her to not notice it even if they were fighting.

It’s just a pity that there was only red light in the temporary painting by the sorcerer but no servant came out.

"I don't mind being ordered around by you." The old woman spoke slowly. She noticed the vigilance on Fujimaru Ritsuka's face.

"You don't have to be so alert. If I really wanted to harm you, I could just let you fall from a high altitude, or watch you being dragged into an empty alley by the thugs. Wouldn't that be more convenient and covert?"

Listening to the increasingly dangerous words of the man who calls himself "Archer of Shinjuku", who sounded like a veteran criminal, Fujimaru Ritsuka frowned at the inexplicable sense of déjà vu.

Had she heard the same rhetoric somewhere before?

"Believe me, young lady, we should not allow evil to continue to spread. We should have the same goal."

She remembered that Caster had said the same thing to her in the singularity of Camelot.

Becoming more alert, Fujimaru Ritsuka spoke carefully: "What do you want? Money? Or a job?"

"Trust, I need your trusting attitude and tone. Can you trust me?"

"I'm not sure yet." Fujimaru Ritsuka didn't agree immediately: "After all, you said not long ago that no one who can survive here is a good person."

Hearing Fujimaru Ritsuka's answer, Archer in Shinjuku showed a strange expression between excitement and joy. He stroked his beard and chuckled: "If you had agreed just now, I would probably turn around and go home without hesitation - although I don't have a home yet. But your answer... well, it seems that we can have a fairly pleasant working relationship."

"You...are you some unknown comedian?"

But after his laughter subsided, his narrowed eyes suddenly opened, revealing a sharp light: "Then I will tell you what I have seen about this place. It is different from the Shinjuku you know, a city dominated by phantoms and ghost stories."

Obviously, Archer just wanted to start with this obscure conversation to arouse Fujimaru Ritsuka's interest, and Fujimaru Ritsuka did focus all his attention on Archer, but Archer's words stopped abruptly.

A wolf howl cut off Archer's remaining words.

——Wolf howling.

It is hard to imagine that in a modern city built of steel and concrete, one can hear such a sound filled with the breath of a primeval forest, so much so that when Fujimaru Ritsuka heard it for the first time, he wondered if there was something wrong with his hearing.

But soon, the wolf howl was heard again, coming from far away, short and violent, as if it was chasing prey.

The moment they heard the wolf howling, the thugs who were originally lying on the ground suddenly struggled violently. They lifted their bodies and tried to stand up. After failing, they scrambled to crawl and try to hide in the darkness.

"Here they come." Archer's face became serious. He put away his coffin-like weapon, grabbed the arm of Fujimaru Ritsuka, who was still standing there in a daze, and forcefully dragged the girl towards the alley. "First of all, the first rule of survival in Shinjuku is - the moment you hear the wolf howl, no matter what you are doing, if you don't want to die, run in the opposite direction of the sound."

Archer's voice was low, and his face, in his fifties, showed no trace of the carefree old man he had just worn.

"How on earth..."

sieve--

The air seemed to burst with the sound of something, hidden in the panting and howling of wolves, like a poisonous snake hiding in the dark, hidden and dangerous.

Archer subconsciously pulled Fujimaru Ritsuka's arm and carried her behind his back.

But he was still a step too slow. As soon as Fujimaru Ritsuka's feet left the ground, a cold light burst out in front of them.

The slender [something] reflected the cold luster in the dark night, and the intersection was almost in an instant.

boom--!

Fujimaru Ritsuka felt her feet tighten, and her whole body was pulled off Archer.

With the help of a not-so-bright light source, she was able to see clearly what was wrapped around her foot - it was a beast's tail covered with hideous black scales. The sharp bone spurs on the tip of the tail had already pierced through her ankle, and it was about to cut off her entire foot. However, Archer reacted and reached out to pull the tail.

The tail was quickly retracted, casting a large area of haze from the entrance of the alley - there was a figure there at this moment, with his back to the light source, making it impossible to see clearly.

The roar of a motorcycle engine sounded the next moment, carrying the man away quickly.

"Are you okay?" Archer looked down and saw Fujimaru Ritsuka's twisted ankle, and he stopped talking.

"I can't run away, damn it."

He purposely did not attack Fujimaru Ritsuka's vital points in order to prevent her Servant - that is, him - from abandoning his Master.

He cursed angrily. The wolf howling was getting closer and closer, and he could already vaguely see the huge wolf shadow cast by the moonlight from the other side of the alley.

——How about we just throw this guy here?

Such thoughts arose uncontrollably in my mind, but were quickly suppressed by another inexplicable thought.

——Since you have already acknowledged her identity as the Master.

Archer held Fujimaru Ritsuka with one hand and lifted the coffin-shaped turret with the other.

He took a deep breath.

——Could it be true, as this little girl said, that I am actually a partner of justice?

How should I put it? The story framework of Shinjuku is already very detailed. This section and even the following sections in my outline are basically the same as the original FGO 1.51. The real story actually happened after defeating the Demon Pillar Baal and Moriarty, so I can't write it. I'll just write it as I see fit.
