Chapter 69 Remarks on the launch
It's finally on the shelves.
This month of the new book period was really a dream month for me. When the book was 50,000 words, I was still thinking about cutting, and when it was 100,000 words, I was still thinking about having a good result. However, now, this result is more than just "good" to me.
Let me talk about myself. First of all, I am not a big shot, but I am not a newbie. I first started writing books on Qidian in 13, when I was still a student. From 13 to 18, I had three books published, and the best one had an average subscription of 200, which was really a failure. After that, I left here and went to other sites to write fan fiction. I did have some small achievements. After that, I wanted to come back here and continue writing "my own hero", but I always failed, failed, and failed again. Failed, failed again.
So I am really a writer with limited talent. There are many geniuses in this era, but I am not one of them. There are young writers with spirituality in their writing every year, popping up like mushrooms after rain. I can only envy them, and I can't even lament that the new era has no ship to carry me... because I didn't board it in the old era either.
I am not saying this to gain sympathy. All I want to say is that I am really satisfied with this achievement, and I am really happy that so many people like my book. But I also hope that everyone will not praise me too much, I really can't stand it, I just want to write an interesting book that everyone is willing to read, that's all~
Then let's talk about this book. This book is really the most difficult one for me to write. I wrote the beginning of this book seven times. The story at the beginning was not like this. At that time, Bai Wei had most of the body. I wanted him to complete the rebirth by himself. In the end, I changed it seven times before it became what it is now.
Here, I would like to sincerely thank three people: Boss Qingting, my immediate editor Jiang Cha, and an author friend who does not want to reveal his name.
Boss Dragonfly helped me set the tone for this book after I completed the basic settings. It was he who came up with the general direction of a small person igniting the world with his own body. He also helped me perfect the structure and made me understand that this is how an original novel should be written.
Jiang Cha helped me to polish the beginning over and over again. More than half of the seven times I wrote the beginning were rejected by her (haha). She asked me to write and revise it over and over again. Even when the beginning was basically approved on the sixth time, she stopped me when I was waiting to send the book the next day, saying that it still didn’t feel right and that I could write better. She also repeatedly told me when I was exhausted from polishing the beginning and wanted to give up that my idea was really good and it would be a pity to give up, so I should keep trying. And she kept trying until now.
Although the seventh time, which is now the beginning, is still not very good, but that was the limit of what I could do at that time. I could only make sure that there were no problems with the structure and then write the rest slowly.
The last one is my author friend who does not want to reveal his name. When I didn’t make any progress in the early stage of this book and wanted to give up, he questioned me, “If you give up now, what’s the difference from before? What can you learn?” Then I persisted, thinking that it was just as he said. If I gave up now, I would have nothing. No matter what, I still had to persist until I reached 100,000 words to test the waters and push it out.
Then, on the second day of the trial promotion, I ranked fourth on the new book list.
It really is, like a dream.
It seems that I am really like a cripple, and the three people above have really given me a crutch each to allow me to get to where I am now, so I really want to say thank you to them again.
Finally, let’s talk about the plot. The first volume of this book has ended, which has fulfilled my original idea of showing readers a complete story before it is put on the shelves.
This has indeed been achieved, but I am still very dissatisfied with the story itself.
Putting aside my extremely poor description of the battles (there is no way to do this for now, I can only learn it slowly after the book is put on the shelves), combined with some readers' feedback, in my opinion, this volume has the following very obvious flaws.
First, the writing in the early stage was not good and quite chaotic, because at that time I didn’t have enough understanding of Bai Wei, the real protagonist. Should he be the kind of silent behind-the-scenes mastermind, or the returnee like Lu Mingze who is outwardly detached? Which one would be more interesting? My own indecision led to the fragmentation of Bai Wei’s image in the early stage, which was the main reason why everyone had a bad impression of him in the early stage.
Second, the Somme chapter was written too hastily. Logically, the plot here should be heavier than that of the town of Petain, but it was not. The design I envisioned of discovering different facts in three days to connect the whole truth and let Uru collapse step by step and go to complete destruction was not a problem, but the problem was that it was too hasty. Uru's purpose was too clear, resulting in a too compact rhythm, which was very depressing to watch. At the same time, the emotional explosion points were superimposed together, which would make people feel aesthetic fatigue. At the same time, the focus on other characters was seriously insufficient (such as the proprietress and the little girl in the hotel), which made the final explosion point a little short, and there was a feeling of Uru rushing to die and forcibly sensationalizing. Of course, this was also because I was too worried about gains and losses. I wanted to maintain this result and fulfill my promise to readers to tell a complete story in the free chapters. As well as my few original experiences, my control over the second half of this volume was somewhat unbalanced, resulting in a decline in the quality of the viewing experience.
The above two points are the main ones. If I have to say a third point, it is that my writing is still a bit verbose. There is a lot of nonsense in many cases, which makes people feel that the writing is not clean? I will pay attention to it in the future.
Finally... ahem, I have to be honest and tell you that I don’t have any manuscripts saved.
This book is ultimately too difficult for me. It is often difficult to keep up with the existing updates. I used to write more every day and accumulated a lot, but the result was that the plot was the same as that one, mainly focusing on the plot where Uru discovered the bugs on the second day. At that time, I felt that there was a problem with the rhythm, so I sent out all the manuscripts, and then I found that the later parts were really not good, so I deleted them and rewrote them. After going back and forth, the manuscripts were gone.
The last time I burned my saved drafts was the final battle between Bai Wei and Corey two days ago. Although I know that the crappy battle description made many people frown, I have to say... that was already the second version, and the first version was even worse.
So when it goes on sale tomorrow, I will probably only be able to update four or five chapters. I hope you guys don't mind too much =-=
It will be sent in the early morning
I hope you all will support me~ (As for the cover and character design, I am already looking for someone to make them, and I will see you soon)
A new story has begun, let us continue this journey to light up the world.

Chapter 70: From then on, there were gods (Please order first!)
Rhine, Rhine city.
Rhine Pope Lango, wearing a luxurious robe, was sitting in front of a huge round table with his eyes closed.
In addition to the high-back chair where he was sitting, there were four empty seats at the round table. In the center of the round table was a two-meter-high magic crystal. Lightning-like arcs of light were jumping in the translucent crystal.
Several priests were standing in front of the crystal and inspecting it. After a while, they all left, leaving one behind to report to Rango: "Your Holiness, the communication crystal is ready. You can contact the four cathedrals at any time."
Rango didn't open his eyes, but just nodded: "Let's get started."
"As ordered."
The crystal was activated, and the arc light inside the crystal became brighter and brighter, as if it would explode in the next second. This scene lasted for a total of five minutes. The arc light gathered at the top of the crystal and then shot towards the four empty seats. Not long after, four illusory figures slowly appeared on the seats. Three of them were wearing the same robes, which symbolized their identity and status, while the robe of the other one was much simpler, which naturally attracted the attention of the three people at the first time.
But they did not ask questions immediately, but first touched the chest of Rango who was sitting on the main seat.
"Your Majesty."
After getting a nod from Rango, the remaining three people turned their attention to the most unique person.
"Heri?" Bishop of the East asked first, "Why you?"
"Where's the One-Eyed Dragon?" Bishop of the North followed up, "I haven't seen him show off his eye in front of me for many years."
Bishop Nan did not speak, but he looked at He Li with curiosity.
"This..." He Li looked at Rango, who was sitting in the first seat, with some hesitation.
Rango said calmly: "Just to be frank, isn't it just for this matter that we summoned them?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the three bishops immediately realized that something was wrong with Corey, and their expressions gradually became serious.
"Yes, Your Majesty." After getting Rango's promise, Heri said to the three archbishops, "My Lords, I have brought you a sad news. The Bishop of the West, Cory Obote, passed away last night."
The three bishops did not speak immediately. They frowned. Although they had guessed this from Heri's previous reaction, they were still shocked when Heri said it himself.
"This is really... shocking news." Bishop of the North was the first to break the silence.
Bishop Nan, who had been silent before, also spoke up: "I guess he didn't die of natural causes."
"...Yes." Heri nodded, and then said with some difficulty, "Bishop Corey has passed away, and the eye... has also been lost."
There was another moment of silence.
Bishop Dong gently rubbed his temple and said, "I suggest you make your words clear all at once, or I might kill you."
He Li's body trembled. He knew the style of the Eastern Bishop very well, so he quickly explained the whole story in the shortest time possible.
When they learned that it was most likely another body part holder who killed Corey and took away the eye, the three archbishops could not help but exchange glances. They understood why His Holiness the Pope was so anxious to convene this meeting.
If all this is true.
Then the guy named Ulu already has two body parts.
"I won't ask you whether you have caught that guy named Uru or found any clues about him." The Bishop of the East's tone has become heavy. "I just want to ask one thing. That guy named Uru has returned to Som City. You and Corey both know this, so why didn't you report it? Did Corey want to monopolize both corpses?"
Facing the questioning from the Bishop of the East, He Li did not dare to refute at all, and cold sweat broke out all over his body.
At this moment, Rango, who had kept his eyes closed, finally opened his gray eyes. He said in a hollow voice that seemed to not belong to this world: "It's meaningless to argue about that. The point now is that we have lost that eye, and there is a high possibility that we have an enemy with two corpses."
He paused.
"How to find and dispose of him and recover the two body parts is the key next."
Seeing that the Pope had made the decision, the Bishop of the East could not continue to question. After the four of them saluted Rango again, the Bishop of the North could not help but ask, "But I still don't understand. The priest named Uru only has one finger, right? In the ranking of the Forbidden Book, no matter which finger it is, it cannot compare to that eye, not to mention the one-eyed dragon... I mean, there should be a bigger gap in strength between Bishop Corey and him, so how did he kill Corey?"
"This is even more crucial." Rango looked at the Bishop of the North with his gray eyes. "At present, all our knowledge about the corpse pieces comes from the records in the Forbidden Book, but the question is, is the record in the Forbidden Book necessarily correct?"
As Rango spoke, he raised his finger slightly, and everyone in the venue except Rango and the projections of the four churches retreated, leaving only one person and four shadows.
The bishops knew that His Holiness was about to say something that could not be recorded.
"A long time ago, the leaders of the four orthodox religions did a deduction. They added up all the rules about corpses recorded in the Book of Taboo and combined them together to judge Visas' true strength." Rango said slowly, "And in that deduction, we came to a conclusion, that is, with only the abilities recorded in the rules, Visas is just a powerful pollutant full of rules. He is still stronger than everyone, including us, but this level alone is not enough to be a god."
The three bishops exchanged glances.
"Do you think that those corpses contain abilities and rules that are not even recorded in the Forbidden Book?" Bishop of the North said after a moment of contemplation. "I remember that Cyclops... Corey also expressed this view. According to him, his eye can see more and farther than I can."
Bishop Dong said, "But that's just speculation, isn't it?"
He Li really didn't want to respond to Bishop Dong's words at this time, but he knew it was his turn.
"No...Now, the guess is going to be confirmed."
He Li glanced at Rango, and after Rango nodded, he performed some operations over there, and then a new projection appeared on the magic crystal.
That was Corey... dead Corey, to be exact.
The three experienced archbishops couldn't help but stare with their eyes wide open at such a miserable sight.
Bishop Nan couldn't help but murmur, "His death was really... not very natural."
The Bishop of the North looked at Heli and asked, "Is there any problem with this? As far as I know, there are at least ten kinds of magic or divine arts that can cause this kind of damage."
"The problem is..." He Li said softly, "This is already the body we are repairing using the [Divine Art: Miracle of Life]."
The three bishops' eyes widened immediately.
Of course, they knew what the magic of [Miracle of Life] was. It was the most powerful magic of life in the world. No matter how badly injured someone was, as long as they received this magic, they would be healed. Even a broken body could be restored. Although it could not bring the dead back to life, it could ensure that the dead would have a complete body for burial. Every bishop and every pope in Rhine would be baptized by this magic after death.
It never fails.
Until... today.
"What's going on?" Bishop Dong asked immediately, "Where did the missing part go? No, that's not right. Even if it is really missing, [Miracle of Life] can make it grow back."
"That's the problem," said Heri. "We have used all means, but we can't find where Bishop Corey's missing flesh and blood is. The [Miracle of Life] can't make him grow new flesh and blood. It's as if the lost flesh and blood no longer exists in this world. At the same time, this world... won't allow it to grow again."
The spacious conference room fell into deathly silence again.
Everyone understood what Hurry had described.
There is no doubt that this is a [rule], and it is a [rule] that has never been recorded in the "Book of Taboo".
"Why is this happening?" Bishop of the East asked again, "Is it from that finger? But shouldn't it be [Termination] or [Disturbance]?"
Rango said calmly: "That's why I said that what is recorded in the Forbidden Book is not necessarily all."
At this time, Bishop Bei, who had been silent for a long time, looked up at Rango and slowly said, "Your Holiness, I want to ask a question. Although I don't know if this question is offensive or inappropriate, since the matter has become so serious, I still want to know the answer."
Rango looked at the Bishop of the North with his gray eyes. He seemed to have guessed what the Bishop of the North wanted to say, but he nodded slightly: "Ask."
"Visas... who exactly is he, and what exactly has he done?" The Bishop of the North asked the doubts that had been weighing on the hearts of everyone present for many years. "We only know that he is the enemy of the gods, an existence similar to an evil god, but he is different from the real evil gods in the esoteric religion, so..."
Rango raised his hand and interrupted the Bishop of the North's question.
Then he closed his eyes again, as if recalling something.
The projections present did not dare to disturb and just waited quietly.
It was unknown how long it had been before Rango slowly opened his eyes. That hollow tone still did not sound like a voice from this world.
"I don't know what Visas is, I just know he did one thing."
"A long time ago, there were gods in this world."
"But after he showed up."
"Only the gods."

Chapter 71: Of course not
"It's almost time."
On the outskirts of Som City, a special team was waiting on the roadside. Their unique half-human, half-mechanical bodies attracted the attention of many passers-by, but they did not care. These metal bodies had long been a part of their bodies in their cognition.
This was the exchange group sent by the Lyra Cult to the Rhine—of course, this was just their superficial identity. Their true identity was part of the huge Lyra Knights, belonging to the "skeleton" troops responsible for the city's protection.
Chalmers looked at the mechanical watch embedded in the palm of his hand, and then raised his head to look at the man sitting next to the carriage and looking into the distance: "Captain Kud, can we go now?"
Coode didn't ask Chalmers what time it was, nor did he look at his watch. He just stared at the sun in the distance and said slowly, "Just a little bit."
Chamos suddenly seemed a little impatient: "Are we really going to wait until then? We have been waiting since last night, got caught in the rain all night, and even turned off the emergency communication..."
"It is precisely because we have already done this that we cannot allow any trouble to occur at the last moment." Kud turned his head and looked at Chalmers deeply. "Be patient, Chalmers. Don't forget that we are from Lyra. 'As precise as a machine' is our motto. Remember?"
Seeing Kud starting to reason again, Chalmers spread his hands helplessly: "Okay, okay, I'll listen to you. I was indeed a little impatient. After all, I was the one on guard last night. After a whole night of rain, I felt that the axles of my wrists were rusting. I really don't want to stay in this broken place for even one more minute. I can't imagine not having..."
"You just have rusty axles." Cooder interrupted Chalmers and said calmly, "What about him?"
Chamos fell silent immediately. He knew who Kurd was talking about—the legendary knight of Lyra.
"You think it will be successful this time?" Chalmers didn't remain silent for too long, and couldn't help but speak again, "It should be successful, right?"
"I can't think of a reason for failure." Kud said, "His opponent is one of the four great bishops of Rhine. Although he is very powerful, the gap is still too big. We also shut down the emergency communication in advance, preventing him from asking us for help, and we have to lend a helping hand..."
"But he never used that rule," Chalmers said. "Ever."
Kud was silent for a while, then nodded slowly: "Yes, never."
They couldn't remember how many times they had tried to kill the legendary knight.
