"what are you thinking about"

"No, nothing." I was stunned for a moment and said, "Captain, what's the matter?"

"I asked if you had any other requests for your upgrade plan."

"Actually, I have an idea in my mind that I haven't said out loud," I said

"What do you think?"

"Our German navy is already on the brink of danger. The future oceans will be dominated by aircraft carriers. I have actually lost my original role." I sighed. "The attack range of aircraft carriers is far greater than my guns. If I am discovered, I will be besieged by a group of aircraft before I can see the enemy. As for the aerial bombs, if I am hit by one, the ending will be tragic."

"The future of the German Navy cannot be determined by me, but by aircraft carriers! The era of big ships and big guns ended at Jutland," I said seriously. "Captain, I hope you can convey this idea."

"To the Admiralty?"

"Yes"

"But you are still the most powerful battleship now"

"It's just the last glory." I shook my head. "When I was born, we were already backward. It's not backward in performance, but backward in concept."

"Germany has plans for aircraft carriers," the captain mused, "then if you think our naval strategy is incorrect, then what is your position?"

"I am a defender, protecting the aircraft carrier from attack." I answered

"Very good, I will consider it." The captain nodded. "Bismarck, you have a lot of ideas."

Chapter 556: My Neighbor

A few days later, the captain went to Berlin to report on his work.

Well~ Actually, I was worried that he would be "criticized" by Reger. After all, this was my first attack. As Germany's most powerful battleship, it went straight to the shipyard for repairs before the first battle was over. This would not be a good thing for any country. As the captain, Lütjens bears the brunt of the responsibility.

Then he said I was overthinking it. OK, I would just stay here and help the workers with their work.

The day after I got on the boat rack, they started the first phase of work.

Because the side of the hull was severely damaged and several ribs were broken, they first had to remove all the broken armor plates, leaving only the ribs, and then repair the supporting ribs. Each of my armor plates has an area of about three to four square meters, a thickness of more than 310 mm, and an average weight of more than one ton, connected by riveting.

Speaking of riveting, I actually once wanted to use my ability to completely combine the side armor plates into one piece. In my opinion, the overall strength would be greater. But later I secretly did an explosion test and found that small pieces of armor plates are more resistant to destruction than a whole piece - as long as the rivets are strong enough, so I gave up the idea of combining the armor plates.

And if we merge, the workers will have trouble understanding it now...

The work of dismantling the armor plates was not big. At most, I had to remove a dozen pieces and my area was completely exposed, a dark area. The scaffolding was placed on me, and the roar of various tools made me think that I had returned to the construction period.

"How does it feel?" Lindemann asked me as we stood on the bridge and looked at the engineering below.

"It's okay." I touched the skin on my waist. You can't see it from the outside, but there is an obvious dent when you touch it with your hand. It is even more obvious during the disassembly stage.

"Is there a new ship under construction there?" I turned my gaze to the No. 10 dock next to me. From time to time, the roar of machines could be heard from the enclosed dock, and workers were coming in and out.

"Oh, there it is." Lindemann took a look. "It's a submarine under construction. It was probably started when you went out to sea. It's almost finished."

“So fast?” It’s only been about half a year since I went out to sea for sea trials.

"Haha, Bismarck, how big do you think it is?" Lindemann said with a smile, "The submarine weighs only about 500 tons, so of course it is fast to build."

"It's so small, isn't it almost the same as my toy?" I gestured and said teasingly

"It's going to call you sister, haha"

"Yes, it is"

"Deputy Captain, there is a major at the dock who wants to see the captain." A call came from the duty room to the bridge.

"Well? Captain? The captain went to Berlin," Lindemann replied, "Let him come back in a few days."

"Okay," the officer on duty replied and hung up.

Not long after, the phone rang again.

"Hello, bridge."

"The deputy captain said he wants to see you," the ship's duty officer said.

······

"Okay," Lindman said helplessly, "Then let him wait a moment, I'll go down right away."

"How about going downstairs for a walk?" Lindman asked me after hanging up the phone

"Okay, it's okay," I said

Lindemann and I got off the bridge and walked up the gangway to the dock next to the dock. A young officer was standing upright waiting there. When he saw us coming, he immediately strode up to us.

"Haha, this guy has been standing like this since he asked to see the captain just now." I walked onto the dock and whispered to Lindemann with a smile, "Even his movements haven't changed. He looks like a very serious and persistent person."

"Really?" Lindman was slightly surprised. "You have been observing?"

“I can see everything within a few kilometers if I pay attention,” I said proudly.

"I just didn't expect you to be able to judge people," he said to me with a smile, "Do you also understand people's hearts?"

"I will learn something after staying with you humans for a long time." I lied without changing my expression. The 20,000 tons of armor was not for nothing. "I look at people very purely. What's it called? Seeing the essence through the phenomenon."

"Haha, this sentence is right. It's right to see the essence through the phenomenon."

The young officer walked quickly to us and stood still when he was five or six steps away. He saluted respectfully and said, "Hello, Vice Captain! I am the captain of the German Navy's U556 submarine, Wolffarth!"

Lindemann saluted solemnly and said, "I am Lindemann, the deputy captain of the battleship Bismarck."

"I am Bismarck, the secretary of the Bismarck." I also returned the salute, after all, I was also wearing a military uniform.

"Hello, Miss Bismarck," Wolffarth nodded to me.

"Captain Wolffarth, what do you want to talk to my captain about?" Lindemann said

"Hello, Captain Lindemann. It's like this. Most of the work on my U556 submarine has been completed. It will be launched soon. I want to find a band to participate in its launching ceremony, but I can't find a band in Hamburg, so I want to ask you for help." Wolffarth said embarrassedly. "Although my ship is not as great as Bismarck, I still want to give it a beautiful launching ceremony."

I heard someone praise me for being great. I smiled awkwardly.

Is it for the launching ceremony of your own ship? Listening to it, I thought that Wolffarth was really thoughtful. Battleships like mine are in the spotlight, so a band is necessary for launching them. However, there are not many bands for launching submarines of more than 500 tons, especially during wartime when the number of submarines is very high. No one pays attention to this. The fact that Wolffarth thought of this proves his love for his ship.

A captain who loves his ship is always a good thing, especially for me. I remember that there was a military band on my ship.

"Oh, is that all?" As expected, Lindemann smiled easily. He was also happy to help this respectable captain. "You don't have to look for it. We have a band on the ship. I can ask them to come and play for you when the time comes."

Wolffarth was overjoyed and thanked him repeatedly. He probably didn't expect that this matter would be solved so easily.

"Haha, Wolfarth, you don't have to thank me." Lindemann patted his shoulder. "A commander who loves his warship will always win respect. I agree with your behavior."

Wolffarth scratched his hair in embarrassment. He had a handsome Aryan face, with distinct features, thin cheeks, and a double chin, which was highly sought after by later generations. Of course, this handsomeness was not like those sissy Koreans in later generations. How could sissy Koreans compare with German soldiers? Wolffarth was not a pretty boy. He had a big beard, and this time he didn't shave it very cleanly, but it was this uncleanness that gave him a mature temperament, the temperament of a mature man.

Well, he will be a handsome uncle when he gets old. I laughed on the side, but I made an "evil" conclusion in my heart.

"Thank you, sir." He saluted seriously again.

Lindemann returned the greeting and asked with a smile, "So when is your U556 going to be launched?"

"This Sunday" Wolffarth returned

"Today is Thursday, well, there are still three days left." Lindemann calculated and agreed. "I will call the military band over by then, you don't have to worry."

"Excuse me, sir."

"Haha, what's the trouble? The military band is just sitting there doing nothing, right, Bismarck?" Lindemann said.

"Yeah, if they don't practice, they might not even be able to master the German Deutschland." I said with a smile, "This is also a chance for him to practice."

Wolffarth also laughed.

"Can I invite you two to attend the launching ceremony?" he invited.

"No problem," Lindemann agreed readily. "They are all German navies, as they should be."

Back on board, Lindemann ordered the duty officer to "call back" the band members who were out, and then he plunged into work again. He had to deal with all my matters, and he wished he had two or three clones. While Lindemann was busy, I was not idle either. For the sake of the future, I had to do something.

After the Battle of Poland, I realized a fact - that is, I don't have the so-called protagonist's halo. I will be hit by the enemy, and after being hit, I will catch fire, be damaged, take in water, and of course sink. For my own safety, I must work hard to arm myself, no matter what method I use.

I made a list of modifications that I could do on my own. First, the main gun air defense. This is not a difficult project. I just need to fill the gap between the projectile wall and the explosive with some iron blocks and various debris. Once the explosion occurs, the fragments will scatter with extremely high kinetic energy. This is also called a shrapnel shell. This is the experience I learned from the Yamato, which is still in the shipyard. It has great lethality against clustered aircraft targets. Since I can detonate the main gun shells freely, this attack is more powerful. Imagine that when the enemy bomber group is flying in a dense formation, my 8 380 shells suddenly rush into it and detonate accurately under my control. In an instant, a barrage of bullets covers a large area... This consequence is something that few groups of aircraft can bear.

Then there is the matter of developing a VT proximity fuze for the 105 anti-aircraft gun. Due to current technological limitations and my limited understanding of the principles, I have ruled out light fuzes, sonic fuzes and capacitor proximity fuzes. The easiest to implement are radio proximity fuzes and magnetic induction proximity fuzes, but considering the existence of radio silence, I decided to focus on developing magnetic induction fuzes.

This is actually not difficult. Magnetic flux line fuses can be found in many places. I can dismantle one from a mine and study it and then I will know. Or I can find a factory to produce it - but speaking of which, can we consider finding a military factory now and then discuss the importance of money?

I ticked the main gun anti-aircraft and proximity fuses, then sighed. I still have to find a way to make money, and it’s not a small amount.

As for the guided artillery shell, it can only be put aside for now. Not only is it too energy-consuming - it mainly requires precise shaping of the artillery shell - but it is also difficult to penetrate the battleship's armor after losing kinetic energy. It seems a bit useless in the decisive battle against naval battleships.

I hope this air defense upgrade can be approved. This will greatly enhance my air defense capabilities and make me feel more at ease.

ps: If you are interested, you can search for this submarine on Baidu. It has a deep connection with Bismarck.

Chapter 556: u's Promise

I thought about it and wrote about the main gun power. Of course, I didn't want to change the caliber of the main gun. It was impossible to get the Navy to agree to replace my 380 main gun with a larger one when I was still intact. And more importantly, the German navy has been emasculated for so many years, and its technology really can't compete with the old naval powers. I doubt whether they have reliable large-caliber naval guns now. I just want to replace my light shells with heavy shells.

The distinction between light and heavy bullets is not actually the difference in the weight of the projectile. It has a set of calculation methods. When I got the data of my main gun, I checked it. The main gun determines whether it is light or heavy according to the bullet weight coefficient. Simply put, bullet weight coefficient = bullet weight/bullet diameter cubed. The general judgment standard is that the coefficient is around 0.48-0.53 for light bullets, and above 0.55 for heavy bullets. As for the level, it is an extra heavy bullet, such as Iowa.

Light bullets and heavy bullets have their own advantages and disadvantages, but for me, since the perception range has reached 18000 yards, this is considered a medium-to-long-range shooting distance. For light bullets, although they can achieve higher accuracy at close range, at medium and long distances, due to the lightness of the projectile, it is easily affected by air resistance and the speed will be quite low. In addition, the initial velocity of my shells is not high... Well, as you can imagine, it is absolutely no problem to deal with destroyers, but as for battleships, just don't let them bounce away.

However, I cannot synthesize this heavy bullet by myself now, so I can only rely on the German arsenal.

Ah, it seems that there is not much I can do on my own. I looked at the list helplessly. There were question marks behind the strings of check marks. Most of the things still depend on the country.

The next day, my ribs began to be repaired. The workers took out new steel beams from the warehouse and hoisted them onto my deck one by one. They then installed a pulley block on the deck and lowered it slowly to the vicinity of the gap to begin replacing the ribs that were originally broken by the torpedo.

The sparks of welding flashed day and night. I have to say that this wartime production system is really terrible. Just a few days after I entered the factory, my ribs were almost repaired. After the new armor plates are delivered, they can be riveted again. If the new mine protection measures are not approved, then I can go into the water to restore my combat effectiveness.

It is said that the American ship Yorktown was once severely damaged and almost sank, but after a night of repairs it was able to run at a speed of 20 knots. I used to find it incredible, but now... I believe it. I just don't know if the workers should get overtime pay?

Time passed day by day and soon it was the weekend.

Well, Lindman and I have not forgotten that there is a launching ceremony of u556 today.

I looked at my watch, put down the documents and the magnetic fuses from several mines. Oh, don't ask me where the magnetic fuses came from... Of course, they were obtained from the minelayer anchored in the port of Hamburg. But it can't be considered stealing. At most, I just borrowed them for research!

"Lindemann, let's go," I shouted. At the dock, members of the military band were already ready to go. They would arrive at the scene and start playing before us.

"Wait a minute"

"What are you doing?" I pushed the door open and found him adjusting his clothes in front of the mirror.

"Bismarck, I've told you so many times to knock before you come in!" He said to me without turning his head.

"Haha, there is everything I want to see on the ship." I sat on the chair without any hesitation. "You have no privacy in front of me."

Lindeman turned around and looked at me with a frown on his face. "If you were a girl from our human race, with your temper, what would we do?"

"But I'm not," I said with a smile, "Besides, it seems like you won't lose out if I see you, hahahaha"

I also stood beside him and looked at my image today in the mirror. Well, I was quite satisfied. My waist-length, smooth hair was divided into two strands, the front two strands went around my chest and abdomen. My blue eyes were rippling, and I was quite satisfied with the wide-brimmed hat on my head, because it made my face look even smaller, even though it was quite small to begin with. The tight clothes perfectly outlined my figure, and a black navy anchor was placed in front of the triangle of my fair neck as an ornament, with a clear contrast between black and white. My legs were slender, and the same black stockings followed the curve upwards to the middle of my thighs, revealing a seductive section.

Well, the skirt is too short. I feel so ashamed.

"You don't have to look at it, it's very beautiful," Lindemann said teasingly, "I don't understand why the projection of a 50,000-ton battleship would be such a cute girl."

"Haha, there's nothing I can do, I'm just born beautiful," I said with a smile, "I think my original form is also very beautiful, hey, are you okay?"

"Okay, let's go"

"Let's go, hurry up, the band over there has started playing"

U556 was just an ordinary submarine, and the launching ceremony was not very grand. Even the naval official present was only a colonel. In an open space, the shipyard temporarily built a small platform for the flag-raising ceremony, and then the band began to play music. Wolffarth stood on the open space with dozens of crew members and workers involved in the construction.

"Sir, you are here," said Wolffarth, who was very happy to see us arrive on time. "Welcome to you too, Miss Bismarck."

"Haha, haven't the people from the Navy arrived yet?" Lindman asked

"They will be here soon, and the ceremony will begin soon."

"Okay, let's wait together."

We stood aside and chatted with Wolffarth, and soon people from the Admiralty arrived. There were more than a dozen of them, led by a colonel.

It really can't compare with my ceremony. When I went into the water, the marshal and the head of state's special envoy came. Well, although I didn't really want them to come...

"Major Wolfarth, oh, Lindemann, you are here too," the visitor greeted us cordially and was surprised when he saw Lindemann.

"Haha, Hyde, I didn't expect it to be you." Lindman walked up and hugged the person.

Since we were all acquaintances, the atmosphere immediately became lively. Lindeman politely introduced me to Hyde, but I didn't expect that Hyde also knew me.

"This is Miss Bismarck," he said with a smile, "I have heard of you for a long time."
