Bismarck

After all, despite the heavy casualties, the fleet has now initially shaken off the enemy and even has initially escaped from the Allied attack range in the UK. At the same time, the current position is also outside the maximum combat radius of the Icelandic airport. The Allied pursuers behind them may be concerned about the fleet on Kumets' side, right? Now they have even begun to turn around and retreat.

The weather was going to get worse, and in a few hours the night would last fourteen hours. If all went well, the fleet could leave the Danish Strait and enter the vast North Atlantic Ocean.

By that time, it would be basically impossible for the Allies to capture him.

In the direction not far away, there were faint bursts of rifle fire, seemingly coming from the position of the Bismarck or the Tirpitz - those were the officers and soldiers on several warships over there, bidding farewell to their fallen comrades.

Listening to the bursts of gunfire bidding farewell to his comrades and looking at the snowflakes falling from the damaged areas, Bangtai tightened his windbreaker, and without disturbing his partner's change of thoughts, he straightened his hunched body with a slight smile and walked towards the gangway leading to the bridge.

The wind got stronger and the snow got heavier.

The howling wind and waves, along with the snowflakes, washed away the cruel smoke and sorrow of the past. Only four huge steel ships were left, dragging their scarred bodies, step by step, hiding under the cover of the bad weather.

And their direction is the now empty and unmanned Denmark Strait...

…………In a mysterious little house…………

"Missiles are really powerful. Even the two ship girls, Vanguard and Warspite, couldn't block them..."

"Yes, and it seems that if it is a powerful heavy missile, even the battleships can't withstand it!"

"So, you mean, we should also develop this kind of weapon?"

"What else can I do? We are both familiar with Rodney's defenses... Speaking of which, if the Germans' long-range anti-ship missiles were more powerful, I probably wouldn't be able to come back... Do you think we can get the Prime Minister to invest in long-range missiles?"

"He should agree, but you have to be careful. You know you have a bad temper and often go against others. Churchill is a man of his word and can't stand being offended... The GIUK naval battle failed this time. Even if the Germans have long-range anti-ship missiles, you have to be careful. Watch out for the Prime Minister making things difficult for you."

"Tsk, it sounds like he hasn't asked the military court to make things difficult for me... I won't tell you, as the First Sea Lord, you should pay attention to your image when you come to visit me, a defeated general who is about to be investigated by the military court, right?"

"Okay, okay, I'll go. By the way, if the Military Court treats you unfairly and you need help, do you have the contact information of Qianwei?"

"Say less, this is the visiting room, don't let Fatty Qiu check you as well... I'll tell you the truth, he has been dissatisfied with you for a long time - think about why Redel dislikes Lütjens, you know."

"Okay, okay, isn't it just that he's jealous of my wife? (Looking at a certain bachelor with a smile on his face, and blinking)"

"Fuck off!"

Chapter 812: The House Girl Turns Over and Sleeps Soundly

Several days after the Battle of the GIUK Line, a battered fleet finally entered the port of Brest.

Although this was an occupied French port, it was not surprising that the French dared not speak out, but even in the atmosphere of the Brest Naval Base, everyone could feel that they had no cheers or triumphs for the returning fleet. Instead, they only showed indifference and even sarcasm.

Even in the brutal naval battle, Lütjens' fleet, facing the siege of thousands of Allied aircraft on the entire GIUK defense line, still fought back and sank the British armored aircraft carriers Dreadnought and Invincible, and severely damaged the entire British home fleet. However, at this moment, the object of cheering in this port is not Lütjens, but Kumetz...

"Great news! Breaking news! After our heroic General Kumetz's Atlantic Fleet sank the Rodney in the Battle of Biscay Bay, it intercepted a British and American transport convoy in the waters south of Iceland last night... According to the confirmed results, it sank 43 British and American transport ships, five destroyers, one light cruiser, and two escort aircraft carriers..."

In the conference room of the battleship Bismarck, the ship was docked and the sailors were assigned to perform emergency maintenance on the ship, and then several captains gathered together for a meeting.

Hearing the arrogant and even complacent voice coming from the loudspeaker on the shore, and looking at the absent-minded sailors on the dock, who were even looking at their own wounded bodies with a sarcastic look on their faces, Bismarck, Zeppelin, Eugen, and even Lindemann and Top, who knew what was going on, all shrugged their lips in unison.

What great news? It's obvious that we first destroyed almost all the Allied battleships in the GIUK naval battle! Especially now that the Allies don't have a single battleship in the Atlantic Ocean, otherwise, in front of the six Allied armored aircraft carriers, how could you, Kumetz's two Europa-class crickets with a speed of only 25 knots, be so arrogant!

"It's hard to change one's nature!" Toph complained and even spat. Eugen, who was standing next to him, clenched his fists and nodded repeatedly with an unhappy look on his face.

Lindemann, Bismarck and Zeppelin said nothing, but their expressions were full of rolling eyes.

Although Lütjens and Bonte did not show any expressions of rolling their eyes or pouting at this moment, the two more mature and steady people were more depressed.

At first glance, our side is covered with scars, but the radio reports that Kumets has made "great military achievements"... I'm afraid this is no longer just a propaganda or a demonstration. I'm afraid that "the higher-ups" have already decided that we must obey Kumets's orders and fabricate public opinion.

Although Kumets was also a general in terms of military rank, and theoretically he had the right to command himself after the command was confirmed, but his ability and character...if he was in charge of the command, would it be convincing?

Even if you are in a hurry to fabricate public opinion to establish yourself as a military hero, don't deliberately "step on" yourself at this time!

Every one of the 8,000-plus officers and soldiers in the Evil Spirit Fleet rolled their eyes as they listened to the broadcast.

However, since it was an order from "above", there was no room for rebuttal - after all, this was also a military order!

Moreover, it is still unclear whether this "superior" is Raeder, who is almost all-powerful in the navy, or someone of a higher level...

"Pass on my order. Tell everyone not to get off the ship unless necessary, and don't fight with them. Maybe they are hoping that our sailors will fight with their people. I'm telling everyone that the overall situation is more important now. I will try my best to get us to the Saint-Nazaire dock for repairs in the next few days..."

Sighing silently, Lütjens resorted to the old method - being timid.

"But...what if they don't let us repair it? The commander of the base here must be Kumets' confidant, right?" After all, he was someone who had been with Kumets, so Top quickly thought of another possibility.

"Not allowed to repair it? That's easy!" Lütjens thought about it, and soon a smile of mischief appeared in his eyes: "Lindemann, this naval battle is because your grapes were eaten by torpedoes, right?"

"Eh?" Although Lindman was usually quirky, he didn't expect why his commander would ask this this time.

"You know the structural strength of your ship, and this is a port with not very deep water. You can operate it and let it sit on the bottom. I will tell them that it is seriously injured and must be repaired at Saint-Nazaire Dockyard immediately!" Looking at the confused Lindemann, Lütjens, who was an honest man but also learned to stir up trouble, smiled mischievously: "Hehe, we are the main fleet after all. If something really happens, Kumetz is now at sea, and the base commander here can't bear this burden..."

Before he finished speaking, there was a sudden "bang" outside the window! It sounded like something heavy, like steel, hitting something.

Hearing the loud noise coming from outside the window, everyone in the reception room was startled and immediately crowded to the porthole. But they saw a scarred 145-ton battleship tilted and crashed directly into the dock at the Brest Port. The mm upper armor even cracked the cement on the edge of the dock. The "severely injured" overturned appearance gave people the feeling that a huge pink-haired hamster turned over with a lot of complaints - and it was intentional.

Seeing everyone looking at him in silence with a look that said, "As expected, your hamster is the only one who can cause trouble," Lindman was completely confused.

........................

What happens next is very simple.

The large warship that had just returned to the port was seriously injured and grounded in the port. How could the commander of the Brest base, a major general, take on this responsibility? Even if he had Kumets' support, as the saying goes, the county magistrate is not as good as the current one - you have to know that Lütjens is a naval admiral with great military achievements. His rank is three levels higher than his. Just the golden knight medal on his collar, which is unique in the entire German army, can suppress this major general who has never been on the battlefield. After a lot of official power, the base commander hurriedly promised to arrange for dock repairs immediately, and also promised to send the large torpedo boats (torpedo frigate level) left behind to provide cover for these "wounded large warships" and so on.

Although at dusk that day, the large hamster floated up easily from the bottom of the sea at the dock, and even without a tugboat, it just patted its butt and drove away from the berth, the poor base commander felt that something was wrong.

Just in the middle of the night of that day, a large group of British bombers came uninvited to "visit" the port of Brest.

"God bless him, I hope he won't be scolded too badly by Kumets when he returns..."

Looking at the red glow that illuminated the night sky in the distance, Bismarck, who was leaning on "himself" on the top of the bridge where only half of the mast was left, smiled with a sense of gloating.

As for whether God will pay attention to the prayers of an "evil spirit"? Maybe, maybe... May God bless you~

Isn’t it (playing dumb)?

…………One night passed…………

On the morning of November 3, 1942, the four battleships of the battered Evil Spirit Fleet sailed into the Saint-Nazaire dock together.

Speaking of which, for Persian Cat, Grapes, Zeppelin, and their captain, this place can be considered a revisit to an old place.

From the major overhaul after the lucky victory over Hood, to the fearless collision of the British Commander special forces, and then after the sisters were repaired, they set out from here to break through Gibraltar. Even in Bismarck's heart, there was a man with red-framed glasses, blonde hair, curly hair, gentle and kind, well-educated, but with the iron-blooded temperament of a battleship... Although he had only met him once, he could be said to be both an enemy and a friend in private.

The small town of Saint-Nazaire has changed a lot compared to a year and a half ago.

The villa near the dock had already been blown up, and the coastal artillery seemed to be more vigilant. Two interception nets were set up at the port, and anti-aircraft artillery was everywhere around the city. Night fighters were also on standby on the runway of the air force airport. Even on both sides of the Loire River near the St. Nazaire dock, there were large numbers of engineering machinery and groups of strong men. Under the whip and guns of the SS, they were building a huge and solid submarine cave and another large dock.

In the blink of an eye, a year and a half has passed...

Not only Bismarck, but also Lütjens, and even many people on the Zeppelin aircraft carrier and the Tirpitz battleship, silently expressed such feelings.

Only Eugen, who had never been stationed in an Atlantic port before, was somewhat fresh about the exotic customs of the French Atlantic coast. In particular, on the way here, she read in a book that the Nantes region (where the Saint-Nazaire dock is located) has a pleasant climate and is a famous French health resort and wine industry area.

When they were almost at the port, the excited little bunny girl hopped and dragged Top to the main gun fire control device on the top of the mast, and used her fire control device as a large telescope to look back and forth at the scenery on the shore. The long braids swung back and forth, and Top smiled bitterly.

However, when entering the port, the first thing that caught Eugene's innocent, kind and simple eyes was the construction site opposite the Saint-Nazaire dock, the skinny slave laborers who were unable to straighten their backs due to the heavy labor, and the supervisors who were carrying submachine guns and holding whips, waving them around unscrupulously.

Eugen's face fell, and he immediately said that he couldn't stand it anymore. On the other side, Top couldn't help but spit after seeing why Eugen was unhappy.

Top was also an orthodox navy soldier. Even though he knew that it was a common phenomenon to use coolies and slaves on a large scale to build various projects, he still couldn't stand such abuse of laborers in his heart - although, according to official propaganda, it was only because "they were not descendants of our great Germanic nation, so they did not enjoy human rights", that's all...

Especially, let alone the little rabbits in their own family, who would watch such a thing? The entire fleet of warships and their captains, who would watch such a thing? However, engineering is the business of the Tot Organization, not the Navy...

"Oh... forget it, out of sight, out of mind..."

Top thought about it, gently tugged at Eugen's sleeve, said a few words of comfort, and pulled the indignant Eugen away.

Now that things have come to this, there is no point in saying more. Let's first arrange the repair work of our own warship...

----------

Not only Lütjens and others had complicated feelings when they saw the slave laborers, but even Reder also had complicated feelings at this moment.

Lütjens and his men took the lead in "occupying" the dock and demanding repairs, which in itself was nothing, but combined with another thing, it made him a little unhappy.

Just two days ago, good news came from the German industrial sector - because Lütjens had previously "discovered" Conrad Zuse, who had already developed a relatively complete computer topology and assembly language, and because during Lütjens' tenure as scientific research director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society, a secretary cat's imagination led to a breakthrough in small electron tube technology, and because Goering, who controlled the Nazi Party's party property consortium in the economic field, strongly promoted this, the first batch of "mass production" military electronic computers have been put into production.

The computers put into production this time include two models and hardware architectures. One is a fire control type that can command the main guns, secondary guns and anti-aircraft firepower of the entire ship, and the other is a computer director that can command air combat and fleet operations within a certain combat range.

The most important thing about fire control computers is the relevant calculation method. However, the formulas of naval artillery theory are ready-made, so it is only necessary to change the corresponding mechanical simulation algorithm into a calculation circuit that combines analog circuits and digital circuits.

Compared with the original mechanical computer which was cluttered with gears and integral cams, was bulky and heavy, and had very high requirements for precision processing, the improved fire control electronic computer is small in size, light in weight, and the circuit is just a bunch of wiring boards, which can be mass-produced.

The most crucial thing is that as long as the existing sensors for measuring the warship's speed, heading, acceleration, and longitudinal and lateral tilt attitude are connected to the ship's main fire control computer, all the distributed sights and director instruments of the entire warship, from the 406 main gun to the 37mm anti-aircraft gun, can be coordinated directly on the fire control console!

The computer director uses multiple sets of parallel digital computing circuits and corresponding indicating instruments to receive radar, optical signals, or manually input target parameters, and uses electromechanical means to move the corresponding mechanical symbols on a large vertical map board to project a plan view of the battlefield. Each set of computing circuits can independently calculate and display a batch of target information. At most, it can display the approximate locations of nearly 100 sets of enemy and friendly targets for reference and decision-making by commanders at all levels.

As far as Raeder knew, this thing was originally used to upgrade the German Air Force's night interception system "Canopy Bed". And according to actual combat tests, the upgraded version of the "Canopy Bed" has improved its night interception navigation capability from the previous level where each air defense area could only track a limited number of aircraft groups and then guide one or two aircraft to the current level where it can track twenty groups of targets at the same time and guide a squadron of twelve aircraft to intercept separately, and it can also report the enemy situation to the higher-level headquarters at any time.

The most important thing is that according to the current development plan of the German Air Force, this fire control computer also reserves the ability to access the air defense missile fire control system!

Among this batch of "command-type" electronic computers that were transferred over, many were even optimized for use on warships in accordance with the fleet command capabilities required for naval warships and the aircraft carrier fleet command requirements - these optimization design requirements were in fact part of the agreement signed by Lütjens and Goering's Electronic Research Institute.

With this kind of thing, the command and control capabilities of the battle situation of the Navy Headquarters Operations Room, Dönitz's submarine command center off the coast of France, and even the fleets fighting at sea will be greatly improved. In particular, the air combat command of each aircraft carrier has bid farewell to the backward practice of relying on clumsy manual means to plot high-speed moving enemy and friendly aircraft groups on the nautical chart. Obviously, for high-speed moving enemy and friendly aircraft groups, the automatic real-time plotting command efficiency and command accuracy are much stronger than the previous practice.

Although he was a politician in uniform, Raeder was well aware that this was indeed great news for him, who had less than ten large warships to fight against the increasing number of Allied warships in the North Atlantic.

The only problem is...

A guy named Hermann Mayer Goering, as the chairman of the German Imperial Parliament, issued a special instruction: "In order to ensure the command efficiency of the Air Force carrier-based aircraft wing and protect the safety of the Air Force carrier-based aircraft assigned to the combat platform, the four ship-based computers sent in advance this time are to be installed on the Zeppelin aircraft carrier and the naval battleships beside her..."

What's more, because of the need to coordinate internal operations, senior German government officials including Führer and Goering knew that Lütjens' fleet had just successfully broken through the Denmark Strait and was now badly damaged and in urgent need of major repairs.

The result was that Goering, in front of himself and Hitler, legitimately sent the four computers to Brest - these four computers never passed through his hands from beginning to end, and the practice of "installing" them with the official capacity of the Imperial Parliament also made it impossible for Raeder to seize these four ship computers and then "misappropriate" them to Kumetz's fleet.

In Redl's eyes, this was an overstepping of authority and a slap in the face - Goering was the Speaker of the Reichstag and also served as a "minister without charge (actually a supervisory official with the power to order rectification and improvement of unreasonable operating methods of various departments)". He had the right to point fingers at everyone except Hitler himself and a few other high-ranking members of the Nazi Party!

"Zeppelin, this shameless bitch, actually asked Goering to be her godfather! She has lost all her moral integrity, all her moral integrity!"

I really wanted to use this thing to arm Redel of Kumets, but I always felt that the baby was feeling bitter, but couldn't say it.

Deduction rules (Part 1)

Let me tell you about the deduction rules.

First of all, let me make one thing clear: military calculations can actually be unilaterally calculated!

The core of all military activities is nothing more than studying how to effectively use the military forces in hand to achieve their goals with the highest efficiency. Therefore, as long as you have a general grasp of the deployment of troops and the general combat objectives, you can sort out the intermediate process and formulate an implementation plan - in fact, the war preparedness plans formulated by various countries in peacetime are basically formulated by the staff.

Therefore, as long as you know the enemy's approximate troop deployment, range of activities, supply situation, combat objectives, etc., you can unilaterally simulate the enemy and your own army (or even a third party force) to fight against each other.

Secondly, it is the process of achieving the campaign objectives, that is, the battle plan!

Now that you know your own military strength and the enemy's "obvious" military strength, you can formulate a relevant combat plan.

(If there are hidden pieces or reinforcements on both sides of the enemy, in order to ensure the efficiency of the deduction, the specific location will be marked by random dice rolling "when the time comes". However, this does not affect the possibility of enemy ambush or enemy reinforcements when making plans)

For example, when GIUK was breaking out in the naval battle, in order to ensure the breakthrough, it was necessary to calculate the activity radius of the enemy and our side at the actual maximum speed. Obviously, if it exceeded the enemy's maneuvering range, the enemy would not be able to intercept it.

Then, based on this navigation range and activity radius, consider the attacks (mainly air strikes) that the enemy may launch during this process, set up specific defense plans and rotation plans, and record the relevant parameters and modes. Every time an air strike is encountered, according to this defense plan and rotation plan, calculate the dispatch rate, interception probability and anti-aircraft gun hit rate of our aircraft, so as to calculate an enemy attack hit rate, and then roll the dice to determine the hit position and calculate the damage to the warship. Finally, list the delay time and speed reduction caused by combat or other factors on both sides.

In this way, we can first come up with a timetable for the battle plan (because the enemy's possible response is taken into consideration when it is formulated, so a set of timetables can be compatible with multiple troops carrying out combat operations separately to achieve coordinated effects). This battle plan timetable is the basis for our army's movement and combat.

Once the timetable is out, we can list our army’s actions.

………Then the enemy responded…………

Since our army's combat plan is implemented in chronological order and steps, you can now concentrate on playing the role of the "enemy" and determine in real time how to respond based on the "turn" of each step!

The enemy's deduction mode is the same as ours, and the enemy may also formulate a combat plan to deal with our actions (so in the staff war game, our army is just AI, and the enemy is the focus!)

When the two plans collide, a fight breaks out.

The battle is judged by comparing the specific combat modes of the enemy and ourselves, and specific analysis of specific battles. At the same time, before the battle, you also have to roll random events, such as bad weather (resulting in a decrease in the combat efficiency of the aviation force), etc.

Deduction rules (Part 2)

For example, the GIUK naval battle, the Zeppelin night raid

Our army's (Lütjens) main combat goal: break out of the encirclement.

Based on this major goal, a current combat goal was determined during the simulation time: countering the British aircraft carrier.

Since the 780 was heading against the wind, takeoff did not require delaying the turning and launching time. Therefore, the overall heading and speed of the fleet were not affected.

Then the combat mode is calculated: first, the detection rate (this has been completed in advance under the command of Lütjens); then the possibility of encountering Allied fighter attacks during takeoff; then after takeoff and in mid-flight (based on the position of the Vanguard, the 780 may be intercepted by the Vanguard-guided interceptor within 270KM after takeoff); and finally the attack efficiency.

Before the battle, roll the dice and a random event will occur: the weather will get worse.

Considering that Germany has had some Arctic weather forecasting rights in history; at the same time, it is military common sense to consider the impact of climate in large-scale military operations. From the perspective of the German fleet, the worsening weather is conducive to increasing the probability of breaking through. Therefore, the random event is determined to be valid.
