52 Preparation

Jay looked at the scenery around him happily. This time around the people who surrendered did know the exact location of the capital.

The only problematic thing after the battle was the dead Giant. In order to clean up the corpses they were thrown into the water, the problem was that the Giant died on the hill and the hole in the wall wasn't large enough to take him through.

After a moment's hesitation, he left it to his men. He had no idea how to deal with it but he was sure they'd find a way.

After a few more moments, Jay picked 2 of the Iceborne they had just captured. He had picked these 2 since they had the brightest colors. Even if they weren't bright green, they still had a decent amount of color in their fur.

After doing this, he gave them the tokens their commanders had on them. This was proof that they were soldiers of the Iceborne army. Their job was to go to the capital and tell their king that the Iceborne army was victorious. They were just delayed a bit since they did suffer serious casualties.

They were also told to return to him in 5 days. This was done so that once the 7 days 'blind follower' period was up, they wouldn't just betray him and alert them of the plan he had.

After sending them off he took care of the rest.

The other newly surrendered troops were sent to First City in order to get used to the culture, while the rest of the troops prepared.

Jay gave everyone 2 days to prepare, 4 days later they would arrive at the capital.

Now, this time around he didn't intend to have his army fight a lot.

If the capital was similar to the previous Iceborne town they attacked then the nobles and soldiers should be in different districts.

He still wanted to make sure the nobles all died. Even with the 'blind follower' status it would be rather hard to get them used to being hard-working soldiers within 7 days. He didn't want to take the risk of having a class-divide appear.

2 days later the army moved out. The reason why they didn't attack immediately was since Jay went to fetch someone in the First City first. She would be the most important soldier in this entire battle.

Jay, General Green, Geralt, bodyguard Gustel and a little girl could now see the city.

They had left the army to rest behind a mountain a few miles away. Surprisingly, the capital didn't actually have guards on each side like the previous town they took out. It seemed that they felt safe as can be, here deep within the Icelands.

Everything was exactly as expected. The eastern side of the city had advanced houses with people walking in and out. Even from this far away he could see the brightly colored dots walking around.

The western half of the city had a couple of barracks with a single basic house. Lastly in the north was a mansion made out of ice, it was clear this was where the king would live.

Jay was truly surprised at how rich this city was, advanced houses were really expensive to make, leave alone to get the blueprint of. The mansion was the exact same.

The outer wall was 3 meters tall, a size that would make it hard to jump. Additionally, icy spikes were placed on top.

Jay didn't seem worried in the least, the group waited until nightfall, when nobody roamed the street before sneaking in.

Jay was the first to jump the gate after this Geralt threw the little girl over the wall, then the other climbed in.

Jay held the girl tightly as he made his way into the middle of the eastern district.

After this happened, he silently began unlocking the doors all around him. Luckily these doors were made of ice, thus he only had to heat up the place where the lock was in order to unlock each of the doors.

Once a decent amount of doors were unlocked, Geralt threw the girl into one of the houses before the 4 of them ran north, hiding, to see if their plan would work.

The little girl they took with them was one of the zombies they had captured. Jay had brought it here to test its effectiveness. No yells could be hard which was what they had hoped for. The zombies generally aimed for a person's neck, crushing it in a bite.

A bit later they saw the girl walking out of the house she was thrown into, entering a different house.

At this time, the group once again moved. They started heading north, towards the mansion that was built there.

Jay wasn't sure if the Iceborne king was strong or not, so he wanted to kill him in his sleep just in case. Additionally, the palace had 4 guards and he was a bit worried they would discover the zombie outbreak prematurely.

There was no wall between the residential district and the palace, which was a truly stupid move in Jay's opinion. Instead, they did have a wall dividing the palace and the military district.

Jay wasn't sure why this was but he didn't really bother either.

The 4 guards were standing on the sides and in front of the mansion's main entrance. This was once again a truly dumb move, they should've had 2 guards there and 2 more in a more hidden location, this way they could catch an intruder unaware.

Each of the grey-furred guards were swiftly taken care of. Jay killed 2 by sending an ice spike through there heads while the other 2 were killed simultaneously by the other Tier 1's in their group.

When they opened the mansion doors a cold wind assaulted them, it was a lot colder within the mansion compared to outside.

The group slowly moved through the dark building, clearing room by room.

It seemed that the library was turned into a forbidden zone, any magical item they found was put there, off-limits to anyone.

When clearing the other rooms they killed 3 more Iceborne, each of them were servants who slept on the floor.

But when they opened the dining room they couldn't help but feel sick.
