Episode 35 – Unpleasant Morning
TL Note: Thank you Jessie for sponsoring these two chapters on Ko-Fi! (1/2)
Note from the Author: This chapter is from Ahmed’s POV, and in terms of chronological order, the happenings of this chapter take place the morning after Lewin kills the Angry Wolf.
It was morning. Languidly rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I sat my sluggish body up. Today was the day we would do our last quest commission in Grezesta, and Dion kept nagging me since last night to not to oversleep. Dion’s advice was annoying, but what was even more annoying was Smash, who would literally break into my room if I didn’t wake up on time.
He used to be in charge of doing odd jobs in a bandit troupe, and I ended up blindly inviting him to the party because he was somewhat strong, but having the likes of a thief in your party definitely had its downsides.
Due to his high lockpicking skill, I never had privacy ever since he joined the party. Well, if he came into my room I could just have him eat a fist or two. I had a little fun imagining that bastard Smash taking my fist and rolling on the floor in pain when I realized that the arranged time was approaching.
“…Tch, I wish I could get rid of the concept of time. So annoying.” (Ahmed)
After grumbling to no one in particular, I changed my clothes and headed towards the Adventurer’s Guild. “It’s way too early for those noisy ass birds to be chirping this damn loudly,” I mumbled to myself in annoyance as I arrived at the Adventurer’s Guild, where Dion and Smash were already waiting.
These guys were always up so early, and were always together, huh.
……Isn’t that what’s called… ‘dating’? I imagined something I probably shouldn’t have, and I shuddered as a chill ran down my spine.
“Ahmed-san… What is it? Why are you making that face? Thinking about weird things again so early in the morning, I see.” (Dion)
“Uhh….I was just thinking, ah man, it sure is great that you two are always with me, you know…? Wait… what do you mean by ‘again’, Dion?!” (Ahmed)
“Elisa, how could you get turned on so early in the morning? Also, don’t talk so loud, it always makes my ears ring in the morning.” (Smash)
“Smash…you piece of sh*t, how many times do I have to tell you to not call me by that name!!” (Ahmed)
I dropped my fist on Smash’s head as hard as I could.
…Geez, if these guys weren’t here, I wouldn’t be so annoyed all the time. Leaving behind Smash, who was on the ground holding his head, I entered the Adventurer’s Guild. I hated mornings because I was always tired and grouchy, but at the same time the Adventurer’s Guild was only at a bearable level early in the mornings. There were less of those sh*tty bastards around, and their irritating laughter was nowhere to be heard. With refreshed strides, I walked directly to the quest commission reception desk, but on my way there, I saw something interesting in the corner of my eye.
There was a party of four chatting in front of the quest bulletin board.
“Oi, Dion! Look at those four!” (Ahmed)
When I pointed the party out to Dion, who was behind me, he looked over and his eyes suddenly widened. His reaction… Those four, as expected, were the ones who accepted Lewin’s request, [White Feiler].
“Aren’t those the guys who accepted Lewin’s quest commission?” (Ahmed)
“Yes, that party is certainly [White Feiler]. It was the information you had Smash look into earlier, so there’s no mistaking that Lewin’s request was indeed accepted by them.” (Dion)
“Dion, bring Smash over here. I’m going to go talk to those guys.” (Ahmed)
“I understand. Please don’t cause too much of an uproar… Hey– ah, she can’t hear me anymore.” (Dion)
I had to first make sure if these guys stood Lewin up on his request. Holding down my rising impatience, I quickly approached the party of four.
“Oi, you guys are [White Feiler], right?” (Ahmed)
When I called out to them, they all turned and stared at me in puzzlement. They must have noticed I was from [Azure Alliance], since when they saw it was me, they started to grin sarcastically. These guys were part of the adventurers who were regularly mocking and ridiculing us so my hands were itching to smack them upside their faces, but I held back for now because I needed to hear them out first.
(TL Note: The author doesn’t differentiate which member of the White Feiler is speaking, since he never introduces or gives any of their individual names.)
“Yeah, we are, so what? We must have made it in life to have the privilege of being called out by the oh so famous outcasts, [Azure Alliance].” (White Feiler)
“…Pff– BWAHAHA!! Oi you’re kidding me right! Boohoo, I was kicked out of the party– and now I have to leave the entire city too! HAHA!” (White Feiler)
Hearing this, something snapped within me. I really wanted to resolve this by talking at the start. But since these guys wanted to square up, I’d give them exactly what they wanted.
“AHAHA….hah? Hey you, what the hell do you think you’re doing? Where do you think this is? We’re inside the Adventurer’s Guild, you know?” (White Feiler Leader)
I walked closer to him and lifted him up by his collar. The disgusting bastard actually thought that I wouldn’t lay my hands on him, and even had the nerve to try and start sh*t. Fufufu… Getting to beat this guy up was going to be the best thing ever.
“You b*tch, do you even know who I am? –OWW!!” (White Feiler Leader)
I held that disgusting bastard up by the collar with my right hand as I drove my other fist into his face hard. It smashed into his nose, returning the sensation of shattering bone, and I let go of his collar at the right timing so he would go flying backwards. He briefly went soaring through the air like a kite with its strings cut, before slamming into the floor.
Any asshole who deserved a beating always looked the most beautiful sailing through the air with blood streaming out of their broken nose.
The moment I had that thought, one of the receptionist ladies shrieked in horror when she saw the guy lying on the floor, face bloodied and broken. Um… it had become a bit of an uproar, but I was going to be expelled from this branch of the Adventurer’s Guild next week anyway. Whatever, I couldn’t care less.
“Alright, that’s one down. Who’s up next?” (Ahmed)
“Y-Y-YOU! Are you f*cking crazy? T-t-this ish da Adventurer’s Guild, you know?!!” (White Feiler Leader)
“Yeah! I-if something h-happens here…” (White Feiler Member)
“So what if something happens? Sorry, but as you were saying earlier, we’re “outcasts” already, isn’t that right? Whatever happens here has absolutely nothing to do with me!” (Ahmed)
“Wuu, receptionist lady! Call the Guild Chief!!” (White Feiler Member)
I seized the cheek of the bastard who called out to the receptionist lady and lifted him up with one hand. He was flailing and floundering about, trying to put up some feeble resistance.
Well now, what should I do with this guy? It would be fine to just break their jaw right here, but maybe that was overdoing it…
I viciously slammed Bastard #2 into the ground. It looked like a plain move, but it was effective because it prevented them from struggling. After confirming that he was out cold, I immediately went for a combo on Bastard #3, who was still standing there dumbfounded. I swung my fist at his chin, knocking him into the air, where I met him midair with a high kick that drove him straight into the ground. From that perfectly executed high kick, Bastard #3 was also knocked out. It was now three down, one to go. How should I go about wrecking this last fool?
“I-if we did anything to wrong you, we a-apologize!!” (Bastard #4)
“I don’t need your damn apologies, so let me punch you out in one go.” (Ahmed)
I aimed my fist at Bastard #4’s face and let it fly, but I suddenly felt someone stop me from behind. Blood rushed to my head in anger as I turned to furiously face who I expected would be the one stopping me, but it turned out that it was just Smash, who I asked Dion to bring over earlier.
“It’s only been literally one minute since we separated at the entrance of the Adventurer’s Guild, but you’ve already managed to cause such a tragedy….As always, Ahmed-san, you don’t hold back.” (Smash)
“Shut up. Let me finish socking this guy!” (Ahmed)
“Absolutely not. You haven’t gotten any information out of him yet, right?” (Dion)
When Dion said this, I froze. After I got pissed off by their mocking, unpleasant attitudes, I got so caught up in my fists of fury that I totally forgot my original purpose. I was gonna put Bastard #4 in his place with that one final punch, but I was so close to annihilating him without even getting any information out of him first.
