Unmotivated Hero's Tale

Both armies, relative

"Report. The enemy, Clarice Army Division I, appears to be revealing itself on the plains soon enough. That's roughly 10,000."

The soldier, who rushes out of breath, reports to Franz the information just brought to him by the reconnaissance force.

"Again, as information from the House of Lords suggests, about the same number..."

"A long time ago, Clarice was told we'd mobilize 40,000, but there's no shadow to see in successive confusions."

Marianne, the deputy secretary, matches it with the information she was collecting beforehand, so that she can appreciate the current state of the enemy army.

Franz nods once to her view like that. But he never let that alarm loose.

"Oh. The battle against the Empire, and civil unrest with the House of Lords? But this time it must be their tiger boy who's been moving it. It's forbidden to look sweet."

"Yes, I know"

"So what's going on with their movements?

Once again, Franz asks the soldier who visited the report.

"Looks like they're following the rear of Division I. Perhaps a little late to enter the plain."

"Hmm. So any of the guys in Division I are aware of?

"We didn't just get inside and conduct an investigation...... but the House of Lords unit climbs to nearly five thousand soldiers. I was wondering if it would be strange if I had noticed."

"Sure. Nonetheless, they are pointing their soldiers straight at us...? I don't think you like it."

Franz spouts like that to himself with a crease between his eyebrows.

Then Marianne, refraining from such a side of him, informed Franz of her own view.

"Perhaps, but they're after a short-term showdown"

"Are you going to finish the fight before it gets pinched? Then we just need to stay on guard..."

Whether the enemy tries to hasten the battle or not, you don't have to dare do it. While Franz thinks so, he reconsiders whether there is any overlook in his own thoughts.

Marianne, on the other hand, familiar with his character as such, put only a difficult view into its mouth.

"Either way, I don't think it's a bad idea in itself to fight with a larger number than your enemies. As it stands, I was wondering if we should solemnly proceed with our manoeuvres beyond the enemy moving almost as we thought."

"You sure do. If the enemy makes a new move, try to respond as appropriate. Either way, let each troop leader know you're never going to get ahead of the enemy."

"My Lord Elentham, the enemy still seems to be waiting for us on the Lucida Plains as expected. That's about the same number."

Michamul Five, who serves as Ellentam's deputy, reports to his superiors information on the enemy that has just been delivered.

"Thank you. So, are they showing any movement?

"No, so far"

"Hmm, as we noticed them, it's a good time when they seem to notice us, too. Nonetheless, if there is no movement...... hehe"

With that much mouth on his mouth, Ellentum smiles with satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Michamul, who failed to understand the meaning of the superior's grin, spoke only of the general theory.

"That's what you should think when they don't move is still what you expect from a dog chasing our backs"

"Oh, I guess. Well, I would basically think and choose the same thing in their position. He said we should stay on guard and wait until the blackout system is in place."

With one finger up, Elentham tells Michamul so.

Michamul nodded his superior's words and actions as reasonable.

"It's a sure choice, though it's passive"

"Uhm. And that's why they should be thinking this. If we are aware of the dogs in the House of Lords, we are aiming to bring them to a short-term showdown."

'Cause the truth is, you'll only have that hand.'

That Michamul word and deed.

The moment he hears it, Elentham shakes his neck small, left and right. And when I had a meaningful grin, I slowly opened its mouth.

"Fulfill it, huh? If we bypass the enemy forces greatly from here, and turn to their backs, we can spare them the blackmail."

"That may be true, but it doesn't change that you have to relate to a large number of enemies at once. Not to mention the enemy, who won't miss the detour too much. Then I think it would be better to reverse here and aim to destroy the House of Lords first."

Michamul will be crushing ahead of Elentham's hypothesis, which he will be asking next, thinking that there has been a vice among superiors who will soon try people.

On the other hand, Elentham, who insight into the interior of such a subordinate, dared to overlap an ill-willed inquiry.

"And expose your own back to the Britannian army?

"If we're going to assume a short-term showdown, I think it would be somewhat better to think about still being able to fight a handful of enemies. Different?

That inquiry, which should also be called Michamul's argument.

Elentham nodded one satisfactorily, asking for that answer.

"That's not true. I also initially intended to crush the House of Lords with a sharp reversal where I reached a moderate distance from Britonia."

"And hurrying and rushing back to Britnia...? While I'm telling you myself, I think it might be a little too good a plan for the outnumbered enemy."

Michamul said so with a slightly bitter look on his face, even though he had made a counter-proposal earlier.

As soon as he admits such a view of him, Elentham honestly admits that, once again, he expresses his own thoughts.

"Sort of. But if they crusade the House of Lords first, they will probably return to self-rule. That is synonymous with giving Britonia time. That's why I decided it was best to get on the picture he was drawing."

"I see...... but are they really moving?

"Are you worried?

Noticing that Michamul's words and voice color contained a small number of anxiety ingredients, Ellentum asks him in the end.

Then Michamul nodded slowly with a strange look on his face.

"I won't deny it. No, of course I'm not questioning that person's strength..."

"Once a hero disappears from the tabular stage, can he or she remain a former hero...? Hmm, that's a really interesting question. But I want to throw another question at him."

Where Elentham has spoken so much, Michamul urges him beyond.

"Is that another question?"

"Oh, it's another question. My best friend's godson, that sloppy hero, has been replacing his heart or not."

"That again...... but it does hit the godchild of the Under-Secretary of Strategic Affairs, doesn't it, that one? Though -"

As Michamul tried to continue his words further, a magnificent soldier under his command hurried to speak to them.

"Report. Soon the avant-garde magicians will capture the enemy forces in their range."

"Hmm, got it. Apparently, the chat time is over. Shall we show the strength of our army from here? To the enemy soldiers in front of us who have crossed the sea, and to that man who will be holding back."

With that in his mouth, Ellentum laughs invincibly, and waves his own hand down smoothly as he gently raises it.

Battle against Britnia and Clarice, later known as the Battle of the Lucida Plains. The curtain of that battle was cut and dropped here.
