Vampire Primogenitor In Tokyo Ghoul Universe

Chapter 19 - Brought Before A Council And A Job Transfer

Muri rested on the uncomfortable mattress on the cold metal frame. The room was unnecessarily cold as though prisoners held here were meant to constantly feel uncomfortable. It didn't really bother Muri as he closed his eyes and entered a restorative meditative state. His calm deep breathing would mislead anyone observing into the notion that he was asleep. However, that was false since Muri never really needed to sleep. He could if he wanted to and there were benefits if he did but he could rejuvenate his mind simply with meditation all the same. Laying there he entered his meditative state while sensing his surroundings. He found he was deep underground. He ignored the agents in the adjoining room who had nothing better to do than to watch him. He expanded his senses. He was annoyed to find he was the only prisoner in this holding facility. Anyway his current experience was better than he expected, he'd originally expected physical torture by the agents to ascertain whether he was telling the truth. However they simply dumped him in an interrogation room, silently released a gaseous ċȯċktail of various psychoactive drugs meant to make him more prone to telling the truth and walked in with a bunch of questions meant to confuse him and trick the truth out of him. Unfortunately for their plan he was immune to such drugs due to a combination of his blood and strong will. Muri started meditating since he already knew where he was. It seemed he'd just have to wait here until his next batch of interrogators arrived. He lay there, losing track of time, letting his mind wander until he heard the loud noise of his cell being opened. He opened his eyes as the agents walked in with handcuffs and a black bag. Muri didn't bother putting up a fuss as they handcuffed him and put the bag over his head. He was escorted out of his cell and led up a bunch of stairs. Muri absentmindedly counted the staggering number of steps till he felt they were above ground in a restricted part of a building. Muri sensed all but two of the agents leave and he was escorted into an elevator that took him straight to the top of the CCG tower he was in. It took a while but the elevator finally reached the top, opening up the doors before Muri was pushed out into an office. He was pushed forward and made to sit on a metal chair before a large desk with three figures behind it, one sitting, two standing. Muri's were fastened to the chair before the agents left the room, ripping off the black bag on his head as they left.

Muri knew who he was brought before the moment he walked into the room. He gazed around the office before focusing on the three male figures before him. Yoshitoki Washuu, Bureau Director of the CCG main office, a middle-aged man with wavy black hair, high cheekbones, and faded goatee around his mouth and chin. Tsuneyoshi Washuu, Chairman of the CCG and head of the Washuu Clan, a senior man with long white hair and a beard. Kishou Arima, CCG's prized Reaper and genius ghoul investigator, a tall well-built man with snow white hair and gray eyes covered by a pair of thin-framed glasses. The three of them showed brief flashes of surprise in their eyes once they gazed upon Muri's rugged appearance. "Boy, you look beastly and unsightly. You disappear for more than a year then come back looking like this? Shameful, really shameful. I ought to have you imprisoned for the crime of insubordination. What do you have to say for yourself? Speak up." Tsuneyoshi barked in a stern voice, clearly trying to intimidate Kichimuri. Muri merely smiled, "Nice to see you are well, Sir. Why, yes I'm fine thank you. I'm glad I'm alive too. Thank you for caring. Director Yoshitoki, Special Class Investigator Arima, good day to you two as well. It's very nice to see you all in good health." Muri stated cheerfully with an innocent smile. Tsuneyoshi paused in stern disbelief, a tic forming on his forehead, "DO YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE? DID YOUR VACATION ERASE YOUR MANNERS? DO YOU THINK I WON'T HAVE YOU JAILED AND EXECUTED FOR DESERTION? NOW ANSWER ME HONESTLY, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME? THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE KICHIMURI." Tsuneyoshi stood up, slammed his desk and shouted at Muri. The atmosphere in the room changed as the air around the Chairman turned wrathful and heavy. It didn't affect Muri though he had to act like it did. His godly acting skills activated giving him the look of someone putting on a brave ċȯċky front while nervous and afraid. "Do your worst old man, I've already been to hell and back. I've spent the last year on the edge of death, nothing you do could possibly scare me." Muri stated with a brave shaky voice, sympathy bait to lure in one of the two men behind the Chairman. Before things could go any further and as the Chairman was about to explode, "Sir, We've read through the transcript of his interrogation. Our tests came back with no evidence that say he's anybody else apart from Kichimuri. The truth serum gas was also administered to him before the interrogation. All evidence point to what he's saying to be true. If that is so it would be best to show leniency, he's apparently been through a very traumatic experience." Yoshitoki said calmly as he took a step forward. "Hmmm, you're right. Kishou what do you think?" Tsuneyoshi sternly stated as he calmed down and returned to his seat. "I would have to agree sir. Reports from the dna testing confirm his identity and shows nothing abnormal except malnutrition. The drug induced interrogation tells us where he was, why he was there and why he's just coming back. However I'd advise he not be reinstated to his post but rather transferred to the CCG as a ghoul investigator." Arima replied calmly as he also stepped forward. Tsuneyoshi and Yoshitoki were both surprised by Arima's proposal, they turned to him in unison clearly hinting for him to elaborate. "This mess happened in the first place because he was given too much freedom, allowing him to accumulate numerous achievements and inflate his ego. Then in a pursuit for more laurels to rest on his inflated ego, he recklessly tried to hunt a very dangerous ghoul on his own leading him to end in the most dangerous ward in Tokyo. Rather than return upon losing his target, young agent Kichimuri recklessly and foolishly decided to go deeper into the ward on his own getting caught up in a major ghoul conflict that kept him trapped down there for more than a year. The fact that he survived and came back in one piece with no missing limbs is already enough to showcase his monstrous talent and capabilities. However his main problem is his resistance to authority, his resistance to working in a team and finally his inflated prideful ego. Allowing him to return to his clandestine post with lax supervision and restrictions will only lead to something like this happening again. Therefore I recommend him transferring to the CCG where he will be put under an accomplished ghoul investigator who can mentor him, rein him in and instill in him discipline. I believe in the long term this will better shape him into a great sturdy pillar for the organization that can inspire and bring up the future generations of investigators." Arima finished his explanation before turning to look into the shocked and fearful eyes Muri displayed. Muri could see the determination and conviction in Arima's eyes, he'd clearly been planning this and had thought it through. Muri suppresses the smirk threatening to creep up unto his face.

Muri's ability to act was a skill that had served him well over the years. He considered it a very important skill to have and it had come in handy when dealing with various people and situations he'd come across. With he was able to manipulate other people's perception of him while leading them to make decisions that would benefit him. Starting off, Muri knew he'd be returning to a tense situation at the organization. He'd calmly gone through their tests while putting on the appearance of a stoic haggard warrior with a slight case of shell shock. It wasn't until he'd come before his final obstacle these three who'd obviously watched the interrogation video and read the transcript, that he switched it up to a clearly false front of ċȯċky bravado and indifference. He wanted them to easily see through it as a traumatized warrior trying to hold up his last shred of pride. That would erase any of their suspicions about his story while bringing him closer to the central influence in the organization. His performance wasn't to make his father feel sorry for him, the bastard had no heart for sympathy. It targeted the two less hardened men behind him. He'd originally expected a promotion in the V organization but a transfer to the CCG was fine too. This was merely to bide his time until his plans mȧturėd and came to fruition. Turning his gaze to the Chairman Muri brought it home, "I know Sir I have been negligent and reckless, but all I did, I did it for the Clan. All my life growing up I've been compared to Special Class Investigator Arima. No matter what I did, no matter how hard I worked, how many I eliminated, it just was never good enough. He'd always have already done it, better. That's why I avoided joining his squad and preferred to work alone. I wanted to test myself and strengthen myself through life and death situations so I could eventually surpass him and step out of his shadow. I know I got ċȯċky and bit off more than I could chew but I survived, I came back stronger than ever. And while I don't expect you to forgive my actions so easily, I wish to slowly work towards them with my efforts from now on. I'm sorry Sir." Muri finished his humble soliloquy with his head hung in defeat and shame. He sensed the look of approval in eyes of both men standing behind Tsuneyoshi and even something resembling grudging acceptance in Tsuneyoshi's eyes. Muri was giggling in his mind. "Humph, I suppose you're still just a brat after all. Since birth, I've been getting reports of you acting mȧturė for your age with you nose stuck in books all the time and not interacting with others until later on. Who knew your immaturity would finally display itself this way? Very well, your transgressions are forgiven, you will be transferred to the CCG. Now the issue is what rank will you be ȧssigned upon entry. Both of you, what are your thoughts on this?" Tsuneyoshi said with a resigned tone. Yoshitoki spoke up, "Sir, normally this would require Muri being ȧssigned as a Rank 3 investigator due to him being a special case and not receiving training from the academy. However I believe it would be suitable to place him as a Rank 2 instead since he's recorded to have learnt all they had to teach and more in the academy from the Clan records while growing up in the Garden. I would suggest an examination though to make sure and prove his qualifications to his future colleagues." Tsuneyoshi nodded and was prepared to finalize the order when Arima suddenly spoke up, "Sir while I agree with the Bureau Director, it should be important to note that Kichimuri possesses the abilities of a First Class Investigator considering he's single handedly eliminated and delivered S Rated ghouls before. And while I don't believe it would be the best thing to place him at the First Class rank due to his immaturity and unproven ability to lead his own squad, I also don't believe it would be fair to bury him by placing him at the low rank of Rank 2. I advise a trial placement as a Rank 1 Investigator after he's undergone rigorous academic and combat testing. At his new rank, he'll still have to prove himself by showing maturity or else he could be demoted. What do you think sir?" The Chairman stroked his beard in thought before looking at Kichimuri and his rugged appearance. He looked into Muri's eyes that showed determination to redeem and prove himself. He nodded agreeing with Arima's proposal before deciding to end the meeting there. An agent came in to undo Muri's handcuffs as Arima walked up to him after thanking the Chairman and answering a few questions about Muri's ȧssignment. Muri looked up at him with a mix of gratitude and challenge in his eyes. Arima could see that while Muri had been humbled, his commitment to surpassing him was still burning bright. Arima gave a little smile and and nodded at him before walking out of the office, expecting to be followed. Kichimuri turned to look at the Chairman and Director behind the desk one more time. He bowed and thanked them before turning to follow Arima, they didn't see the smirk on his face as he turned around and left the office. This had almost been too easy.

Arima was walking briskly along the halls of the building when Muri sped up and caught up to him. Walking side by side, they entered the elevator going down to the lobby. They stood there in the elevator in silence, "Thank you for speaking up for me, I appreciate it." Muri stated grudgingly. Arima let out a little laugh, "No problem, it wouldn't be fair to see such a talent fall through the cracks due to such a silly mistake. It's good you survived the 24th ward and came back more mȧturė. It will serve you well as you begin your time as a CCG ghoul investigator." Muri nodded as the elevators opened up to the floor where Arima's office was situated. " We can't have you walking around looking like that, there's a bathroom with toiletries, shaving supplies and a new set of clothes for you. Hurry up, we're headed for your academic and combat examination in an hour." Arima stated as they walked into his office and he pointed towards a door in the corner. Muri didn't bother replying as he walked into the bathroom, stripping off the clothes on his back until he stood stark nȧkėd. He walked into the shower and turned it on high pressure hot water as he washed off the grime and dirt from the last few hours. He took a short while before walking to the mirror and picking up the hair trimmer, shaving supplies and hair products. He started off with trimming his beard to a light stubble look. He didn't really like the scruffy beard but he needed it to sell his story. Now that he was done, he'd keep his face bȧrė or with light stubble depending on his mood. Shifting focus to his hair, he took scissors and cut off some length. He decided to style his hair into a long comb over with a low fade. He finished up the look with some pomade and clippers. Muri cleaned and made use of some other toiletries in the bathroom before turning to the clothes left for him. He didn't bother trying to figure out how they guess his size as he put on a black slim fit suit, a white shirt and a black silk tie. Taking one last look in the mirror to find anything he'd missed, Muri walked out of the bathroom to find Arima seated behind his desk waiting for him. Nodding at his changed appearance, Arima led him to the elevator which they took down to the lobby. They passed investigators and other staff as they drew looks and whispers due to the rare sighting of the CCG's Reaper and guesses about Muri's identity. Muri was led to a hall where he was given a test on the knowledge taught in the academy. Muri didn't feel the need to hide his brilliance so he decimated the questions in record time earning him full marks when the graded results were returned in ten minutes. Arima nodded in approval as they left the CCG building and began to walk along the street. Muri drew looks from female due to his mesmerizing golden eyed which he promptly ignored as he asked Arima, "Where are we going? Aren't I taking a combat exam?" Arima continued walking for a while before replying, "Don't worry, you'll get tested. That's where we're headed to right now. We're also going to meet your ȧssigned mentor at the dojo she trains at. Be patient." Muri heard the amusement in his tone before he stopped caring. They kept walking until they stopped in front of a dojo with no sign displaying its name. Arima walked in as Muri followed him. They took off their shoes at the entrance and walked along the halls watching various agents train in various forms of martial arts and weaponry. Muri observed the skill level of the agents training before turning away and looking forwards to find Arima looking back at him. Muri raised an eyebrow asking if anything was the problem, Arima merely smiled seemingly satisfied before turning around to lead him towards their destination. They finally arrived at an isolated training hall and walked in to find an attractive woman with dark blue hair bȧrėfoot dressed in a white single layer Kendogi and black Hakama. She moved gracefully, a sheen of sweat coating her skin as she practiced various swordsmanship stances. Muri watched as she started from the basic ones progressing quickly to the advanced then most difficult ones before she engaged in an informal freestyle where she used probably self created moves that fitted her physique. She cycled through the stances, starting again from the basic stances when she was done. They stood there for half an hour, waiting for her to finish her training. She walked over while wiping her face and carrying a bokken in her other hand. "Special Class Investigator Arima, is this the new investigator I'm meant to mentor? I hope this will not be a waste of my time after all I have much already to deal with. You, go change over there in that room and quickly return so I can personally administer your combat ȧssessment. Don't waste my time." Muri walks off towards the changing room where he finds a similar attire to what the woman was wearing. He calmly changes before returning to the hall where he was asked to choose between a bokken and shinai. A bokken was a wooden sword used for training with the size and shape of a katana while the shinai was basically a bamboo sword (A/N: google the images). Muri looked over at the bokken held in the hand of the dark blue haired swords-woman, he noted that it was heavier than any of the shinai offered on display. The fact that she could still move so gracefully while wielding such a heavy weapon, Muri noted her abnormal strength. He decided and chose the heaviest bokken available to him then turned to face his examiner. The swords-woman went into a basic stance as she seemingly got ready to engage him. Arima who stood by the side watching as they each got ready to spar said to Muri, "Meet your new mentor Muri, Chief of Division 1 and Special Class Investigator, Kiyoko Aura. She will be in charge of training and guiding you as you ease into the role of Ghoul Investigator." Muri turned to the Special Class Investigator before him whose presence changed into that of a sharp sword as he got into a stance and prepared to take his combat examination.
