Chapter 124 - Snake Slithered In The Nest To Steal The Eggs
Looking at these four Ji Yao was so confused. He had no idea what they were talking about and from his face alone you could see the confusion. What young? What about Rui Fei.
Seeing this she abruptly stopped talking while looking back at her fellow compatriots who were also silent like they weren't the ones voicing their objections to this union a couple of minutes ago.
An awkward pin dropping silence fell upon the room with everyone looking at each other. Ji Yao opened his mouth to ask them to explain further when the man of the hour showed up right on time.
He heard their closed-door conversation and had to step in otherwise he would suffer a loss. If they so much as mentioned yesterday then all the progress he made would go down the drain. Thus he walked in and sat beside Ji Yao with a superimposing stature like he was the highest authority in the room.
"I am almost seventeen so what young are you talking about?" he said with a look that seemed to say don't fuck things up for me. The four people glanced at each other and in tacit understanding, they excused themselves and left. That kid was really scary. Besides, if he tells his uncle then who knows what that crazy bastard would do.
In a split second, the room was silent with only the two of them remaining. Ji Yao was still confused but he didn't know where to start. "Last night... did I do something crazy?" he asked with a little reluctance. Memories of last night poured into Rui Fei's mind. The biting, the hand holding and the cuddling all at once.
With such sweetness directly poured into his heart be couldn't help but raise the corner of his lips. "No..... you were very quiet. In fact, you were so obedient. Yao-ge should get more drunk often," he said with a sweet innocent smile but deep down that smile was sly.
Ji Yao was a little suspicious. For those four to come to see him personally it must be something big. He was about to ask when he saw that today Rui Fei's robe was fastened up. This wasn't his usual style and besides, it was kind of hot.
Reaching out he tried to open the collar asking, "What are you hiding? Let me see?" He immediately tugged at it but for the first time in a long time, Rui Fei said no to him. That didn't well settle with him at all so he tried to use other tactics. "If you don't show me I will find out sooner or later," he said in a half threatening tone but Rui Fei wasn't moved.
"You can't see what's inside. Its private property," he said shifting further away. Only the heavens know if Ji Yao sees that brutal bite mark what his reaction would be.
"Private property.....," he mumbled echoing Rui Fei's words. That got him to stop but that didn't stop him from thinking about it. He decided to pressure someone into telling him the truth later because it seemed they were hiding something from him.
Rui Fei silently watched his reaction with a sharp pain in his chest. He didn't want to refuse Ji Yao, in fact, he wanted to parade this beautiful mark in front of everyone but for the sake of not making things awkward between them he kept it to himself.
Ji Yao gave up asking and studied the charts carefully trying to ignore the boring gaze on his face. But after being stared at for a long time he couldn't bear it anymore. The side of his face was hot like someone had taken a hot iron and pressed it on his face. It was because of the awkward stare that he just had to speak. "When is your birthday?"
This question was enough for Rui Fei to stop staring. He had said he was turning seventeen on a whim but he didn't know the exact date. He just knew he was born in winter and seeing that they were approaching winter then he was turning seventeen.
"Soon," he said feeling a little embarrassed. He didn't know what to say because he didn't know the exact date. Ji Yao didn't ask any further focusing on his chart.
Certain that Ji Yao wouldn't try and see what's on his neck he moved closer and asked where there were headed.
Ji Yao didn't mind his question in the slightest. He answered, "Sheji or what they call the firing mountains," while pointing at a mountainous area on the map of the continent of Hyesong.
The place was to the west of the continent and because of its location, it should have been one of the busiest places but ever since the incident fifty years ago the climate in that area changed. It was no longer a luscious green area but a dry desert with little to no rainfall.
The population in that area had dropped sharply but there were still a few half Nocru in the region especially at the port. This was a place that many said was a land that the heavens had deserted. The heat was so unbearable that regular humans couldn't survive in this environment.
What puzzled Ji Yao was the fact that this person who had the other keystone had chosen this place as a base. Everything about it was weird. He didn't even want to think about what would happen when he gets there because that person was terrifying. He had no guarantee that he would win against him.
Seeing Ji Yao's lost expression he asked, "What are you thinking?" He didn't like seeing his male god this lost. He wanted to take away all his burdens but in truth, he didn't know how especially when Ji Yao won't tell him. The drinking yesterday had to do with his troubles otherwise he wouldn't have drunk that much in a short space of time.
Ji Yao didn't look in his direction answering, "Trying to chart a course." He wanted to find the fastest and safest possible route to reach their destination more so because this place was isolated. His father never had to go to this place before so he never charted a course to that place.
Rui Fei seemed very interested in this foreign concept so he asked, "Can you teach me?"
Ji Yao didn't refuse. If anything this was one of the things he was good at and he wouldn't mind teaching Rui Fei. He began to teach him diligently but to be frank, Rui Fei was half listening. He was like a high schooler who couldn't focus in physics class because the teacher is hot. Except this time the teacher is not curvy with a big chest and perky ass. This time the teacher was tall, handsome and slender with a smile that could bring down the walls of his heart.
He followed him around as he took out things but his gaze was on his waist. He just wanted to grab it at both sides and hug him from behind. It was because of this restlessness that he didn't know where to put his hands. After the lesson was over Ji Yao called forth the members of the concord and explained where they were headed.
Fed, paid and ready for a fight the members agreed and soon four intimidating high-class ships set sail of the coast off the imperial city. It's just that when they left a snake slithered into the nest and stole the eggs. Prince Rui didn't waste time entering the city with his calvary on a quest to take the throne.
His half brothers and sisters were in the palace when Ji Yao took over but he didn't touch any of them which was unfortunate for Prince Rui. Too bad that bastard wasn't heartless enough to wipe away all his competition.
This is why he believed the weak should never have such great power otherwise they won't know what to do with all of it. Like in the case of the brat Ji Yao. As he approached the imperial city things seemed off. The city wasn't as boisterous or melodious as before.
At first, he assumed that it was because of the pirates but judging from the mourning clothes they were wearing it was most likely something far grievous than that. People should have been celebrating the departure of Ji Yao and his men but the atmosphere was wrong.
When he entered the gates of the imperial city he finally figured what was wrong. Looking up to that white banner at the gates he smiled.
It seemed Ji Yao wasn't a little softy after all. He was just curious who he offed. Was it the old lady or that bastard? When he heard it was his grandmother his smile grew wider.
That old lady traumatized him in his childhood. She had finally got what she deserved. He was curious to know if it was painful and if it was he planned on sending a gift basket to that little brat. What he didn't realise was his grandmother died in his children's hands and soon enough it would be his turn.. Hope someone will smile like he did at the news of his death.
Seeing this she abruptly stopped talking while looking back at her fellow compatriots who were also silent like they weren't the ones voicing their objections to this union a couple of minutes ago.
