Chapter 236 - Rui Li's Paradise

As the person of interest, Rui Fei had no idea his identity as a wolf undercover had been discovered by Old Du. All he knew is that he had to finish off this creature as fast as possible before Xiaoyu wakes up and takes the opportunity to slander him.

This meant he wasn't messing around. His strikes became more vicious like he was on steroids. Even then the Yinying wouldn't go down. The shield was something out of this world and it only grew in size with their attacks.

A sense of desperation could be felt in its cries as though calling for help. Suddenly bright aurora-like lights appeared from nowhere and slowly seeped through the shield before the creature absorbed it. The cries changed from a whimper of desperation to that of a battle cry.

Its leg that was slowly healing suddenly began to heal at a rapid pace and the wound on its sternum closed like nothing ever happened. It was safe to say that its severed stinger would undoubtedly grow back in no time.

Rui Fei and Ji Yao looked at each other and in tacit understanding, Rui Fei vanished on the spot following the lights. The revitalization of this creature had something to do with the keystone and one of them had to find it while the others held it back. Ji Yao summoned his sword that had been fighting on its own and as he held it in his hand the creature opened its eyes with a glint of mockery in them.

The meaning was obvious. It was taunting Ji Yao because it knew by the time that shield comes down it would be invincible and his chance of killing it will be next to zero.

It was drawing its power from the keystone which was like an endless supply of energy. It was like a battery cell with limitless power.

Disregarding the creature's taunting actions, Ji Yao took out a healing elixir to fix up his injured shoulder and any other battle wounds before he put up the last fight. While he was doing this he noticed something strange. The creature seemed to be growing in size at a speed visible to the naked eye.

In fact, it was growing at such a rapid pace that he needed to move back. It seemed he was not the only one who noticed. Xunshi Zhe and Big Hei began to instruct the others to fall back as they weren't too sure how much further it would grow.

Red Bane was sturdily pushed back by the crashing waves as the creature grew bigger and bigger. Worriedly Ji Yao looked back at his ship that was slowly being pushed toward a rocky bay.

"Big Hei! Steer the ship and everyone move back!" he yelled from the sky before turning back to look at this abominable creature.

"We are so going to die here," said Rui Yewan taking up the role of the pessimist in this lot.

Rui Li folded her arms her gaze dead set on this creature as she said, "And here I was hoping to see my brother get married. Oh well, at least I am stuffed from all the dog food earlier... I will die a happy fujoshi."

Rui Yewan scrunched his brows as he turned to look at her. "Where did you hear that?"

"What?" she asked with her pigtails swaying with the turn of her head.

Rui Yewan looked at her puzzledly as he said, "Dog food, fujoshi? What have you been reading."

"Oh, that....," she said with a beaming smile on her face, "I heard it in a dream. It was like paradise. They had portraits in small devices with a lot of boy to boy couples Ah, it was so cute. They had picture books like Yao-ge's with interesting stories about BL couples aaahhhh... it was amazing."

"They also had boys that like shipping and they called them fudanshi. AAAAHHHHH you can also be one. How about it Wan Wan let's watch these two sail together in the river of love?" She brought her fingers together and made kissing motions.

"That was the creature screwing with your mind," he said poking her forehead. Rui Yewan regretted asking but seeing the beaming smile on her face he was at least comforted that she would die happy.

"Ai... so what? At least it was better than that freaking nightmare," she replied rubbing her forehead that had been poked.

While these two were busy with their senseless chatter, Rui Fei appeared in the cave where the lights were coming from. The place had debris from old wrecked ships scattered everywhere in the calm waters.

There was only one intact ship but even that was also debilitated. It was anchored outside the water on dry land and from the looks of it, it belonged to the imperial fleet. Beside it was a pile of old bones from the creature's previous victims.

Rui Fei overlooked this mess and began searching for the keystone. He could see the lights exiting this space but as he stood above the water in this cave he couldn't tell where the lights were exactly coming from. With his IQ it didn't take him long to figure out that this was an illusion.

The creature must have anticipated this and created a barrier that could trick anyone into thinking the keystone wasn't here but Rui Fei wasn't just anyone. A darker shade of grey fog stemmed from behind his back and split into several appendages as it curiously moved forward.

As though sensing something the appendages excitedly moved forward and sure enough they felt an invisible barrier. Rui Fei grinned as his eyes flashed a grey colour.

Bam! Bam!

Was the sound of one daring appendage as it hit the barrier with an insummable amount of force. Other appendages also followed and several banging sounds were heard creating a ruckus like a band with no rhythm.

When they struck the barrier a circle made of luminous colours spread until it faded away. In no time a crack appeared and Rui Fei visibly relaxed with a set smile but there was something that wasn't smiling.

Within its shield it sensed something assault its invisible barrier in its lair. Overwhelmed with a sense of crisis it scanned the group. As expected that brat who chopped off its stinger wasn't there. It seriously regretted not finishing the job earlier as the saying goes once bitten twice shy.

But Rui Fei had bitten it three times. One, when it fought with him and almost had its meal before Ji Yao intervened. Two, when its stinger got chopped off and this was the third time. If it didn't finish him off this time he might end up being its downfall.

It was all in all a good plan but there was one big problem that is it had to get past Ji Yao first and that lovestruck fool was not going to let that happen. As things stood it had to get through the husband first to get to the wife or is it the other way around? Ah, never mind.. You get the idea.
