VRMMORPG: The Other World Online

Cheng Xiu could hear the beeping of a machine right under her ears, agitating her.

Her head seemed to be splitting apart, and Cheng Xiu felt nauseous. Her body shivered as she felt cold and unwell. Her stomach ached, and she felt far more tired.

She wished she could just fall asleep but the pain in her head forced her to stay awake.

Cheng Xiu let out a groan.

The Fold Watch around her wrist beeped again.

Cheng Xiu frowned.

[User xxxx4444 is not connected to any VR world. It is recommended that the User should be connected to a VR world during Pod usage to keep the brain functions normal while the Nutrient Solution heals any of the damages dealt with your Physique. Would you like to connect to a VR World?]

Cheng Xiu just stared at the Fold Watch without moving, her mind not working.

[User xxxx4444 is not going through any supplementary medical treatments. The user is showing signs of new ailments which can not be measured by the Pod System perfectly. It is recommended that the User connects to a Medical assistant immediately.]

Cheng Xiu's mind started to return to normal. She declined.

[User xxxx4444 should contact the medical support immediately as there are fluctuations in your body.]

"What kind of fluctuations?" Cheng Xiu asked, her thoughts barely able to register the System's words.

[User is showing signs of fatigue, and pressure of the mind the way that those who have gone into a Deep Dive would show. Though the problems are in the same frequency, the Qi fluctuation in the User's body is making it hard to give the user a conclusive report. Your body shows a 5% increase in Physique more than last time but there seem to be damages that are being repaired in your nerves.]

"Let me out," Cheng Xiu said between pants as the pain in her mind increased even more, which she had not thought was possible.

[User xxxx4444 is showing signs of going into shock. Accessing code 777-Medical Support.]

"Access denied!" Cheng Xiu said through gritted teeth. "Let me out!"

[User xxxx4444, please reconsider. Your vitalities are showing abnormal signs. Accessing code 777- Medical support.]

"I said access denied," Cheng Xiu said in half-scream. Her thoughts were jumbled, and she was not able to think well. All she knew was that she had to get out of the Pod as soon as she could. She needed to make sure that no one would take her to the Medical Centre. The chances of her being discovered were high there. She needed to get out.

"Let me out!" Cheng Xiu said as she hit the pod door. "Let me out! Let me out! Let me out!"

The pod cover opened with a swishing sound.

Cheng Xiu scrambled out of the pod and staggered to her bed.

Her head spun.

She felt something cool flow down her lips to her chin.

Cheng Xiu raised her hand and rubbed the liquid away.

She looked down.

It was red.

Why was it red, Cheng Xiu asked herself in confusion.

Her headache increased even more.

Cheng Xiu frowned as she felt the wetness return, flowing down her nose to her lips, and then down to her chin.

Cheng Xiu stared at it in a daze.

Was it blood?

Her mind circled that idea.

She looked around and went to her bedside table.

On it sat a tissue box.

Cheng Xiu started to wipe away the red liquid, that she was starting to suspect was blood, from her face.

Her nose felt stuffy.

Cheng Xiu sneezed, and the red liquid flowed out of her nose even more.

The pain in her head subsided.

Cheng Xiu smiled. As it turned out, the red liquid was the reason she was feeling that headache all along.

Cheng Xiu started to wipe away the red liquid with more and more tissue paper with enthusiasm.

She walked towards the dustbin and threw the papers inside it.

Check Xiu watched the papers dissolve and then walked back to her bed.

She laid down at the edge and closed her eyes.

She was so tired. And now, without the headache, she could sleep peacefully.

In another part of the college campus, San Zhe was talking to a female student.

"Please, can you do this?" San Zhe asked.

The girl snorted. "No way fatty. You know boys are not allowed to enter the girl's dorm or vice versa."

San Zhe sighed. "Then can you please check on Cheng Xiu, Frist Year, Geoenergy Department?"

The woman rolled her eyes. "I can't. Sun Zhe, do you even know how strict the matron of the ward of Geoenergy is? It will skin me alive if I dared to ask her anything! Go talk to a faculty member if it is so important!"

San Zhe sighed.

"What is so important?" a voice asked from behind him.

San Zhe froze in fear.

He turned around and met with a pale and beautiful face.

"Teacher Bo," San Zhe said.

"Are you harassing girls now too?" the woman with red lipstick on her lips asked.

San Zhe sighed. "It is…it is about Cheng Xiu from the Geoenergy Department."

The woman's eyes flashed. "Oh? What happened?"

San Zhe gulped. He did not like the look on the woman's face.

"She…she asked for my help with something."

"And what is that something?"

San Zhe sweatdropped. "Um…she did not say. Said I should some girl to help her."

The teacher raised her eyebrows. "Is that so? Then let us go see what she wants help with."

"What? I can't-"

"As long as you have a teacher with you, you will be fine."

"Oh," San Zhe thought for a moment. He did not like the way the teacher was watching him every more, judging him in contempt. "But Sister Xiu needs a girl's help…"

"Did she say that?" the woman asked.

San Zhe backtracked. He needed to give himself away to escape if this backfired. "No..she just said that she needs help and that since I am a guy and I can't go into the dorm for obvious reasons, I should send someone."

"Doesn't she already have a roommate?"

"Yes."

"So why not ask her for help? Why you?"

"Because…her friend is busy with assignments."

"And Cheng Xiu is not?"

San Zhe gulped. "Well…she is a genius. I am sure she is fine."

The woman nodded. "so she just asked for help. You can now help her yourself! And I will be there to see it!"

San Zhe gave her an awkward smile. "Right."

The woman smiled in satisfaction. "Shall we leave then?"

San Zhe gave her a weak nod.
