Chapter 220 - Let Your Memories Grow Stronger

Cheng Xiu blinked her eyes open to see that she was back in the dungeon with the rock-cut style of architecture.

The red tinge that the dungeon had permeated disappeared with the torches of Red flame. The dungeon looked like any other dingy old dungeon. Cracked floors, cool breeze, cold floors, and dark and gloomy.

The counter of the female Rat Counsellor had disappeared and the only thing in its place was the single back door that was hidden behind a screen.

There was a flash on her side and when she turned, she found San Zhe next to her.

She gave him a onceover.

"Sister Xiu, I am fine," San Zhe said to her.

Cheng Xiu nodded. She looked around her. "Where is Yaksha?"

San Zhe frowned. "I am not sure…"

Cheng Xiu frowned. "Do you think that he lost his memories again?"

San Zhe looked at her wearily. "Do you remember everything now?"

Cheng Xiu shook her head. "No. I remember my interactions with you while we were going offline and our time in the real world though."

San Zhe sighed. "But didn't we already-"

There was a burning effect in front of them.

The two released their weapons and stood at ready to attack whoever it was.

A person wearing a black mask came out of the flames. "Well…this is a rude welcoming."

Cheng Xiu sighed. "Where were you?"

Yaksha tilted his head. "I was at my Safe Zone."

Cheng Xiu blinked. She had to admit that she was confused for a moment before she remembered that normal players would return to their safe zones to log-out while Qiless Players could log-out anywhere.

There was a belief in the newer player base that Normal players could only log-out at the safe Zone. But in her readings, Cheng Xiu had discovered that everyone could log-out from anywhere that they wanted. It was just that, unlike the other players, those of the Qiless faction had an extra layer of protection from the system.

Some veteran players would call this The Dome. The Characters of the Qiless Faction would disappear from the place when the players disappeared. But for the others, their Characters would stay in the physical state that they logged out at. This meant that the chances of Offline Healing were nil for them. So the normal players would not log-out outside the safe zone.

Now what was considered a safe zone? Cities, Towns, villages…basically anywhere that is not a dungeon or Wild Instances.

"Do you have your memories now, Lord Yaksha?" San Zhe asked the man in the black mask.

Yaksha shook his head. "No. In fact, I had it until I entered this dungeon but lost it the minute I entered this space."

"I see," Cheng Xiu said, "then that's it. We need to kill the Queen as well?"

San Zhe shook his head. "All we have to do is destroy the mechanization that is keeping our memories away from us."

"That's better," Cheng Xiu said with a smile. "Oh! I heard that players can not return to the safe zone in between dungeon runs!"

Yaksha chuckled. "That is true, but you see, I am different. I have the title of Lord in the game, so I can go to my safe zones. It just costs a bit of Gold coins."

Cheng Xiu nodded. "Okay. The thing that took our memories away should be in the backroom, right?"

"Yup," San Zhe said, "Although…I want to ask…why didn't we get our memories back once we cleared the ritual? I thought that was the entire point of the ritual."

"The ritual was done to counter the one that took our memories away," Yaksha said to him, "meaning it stopped the device from taking away our memories any further. Now, we can destroy the device and get the memories back."

Cheng Xiu nodded.

The three decided to just go and look at the device first. Yaksha was the one in the middle while Cheng Xiu and San Zhe flaked his sides.

Yaksha did not mind them and strode into the backroom.

Calling it a room was a bit much. There was only enough room for a person to stand straight. There was also a single cabinet that sat on the opposite wall of the door.

Yaksha opened the cabinet door and took out a brass hourglass from inside.

"Is that it?" Cheng Xiu asked curiously.

Yaksha looked at her and then nodded. "It is a Dwarf made item called Memorized Time. Basically, it locks the memories of the people about other people."

Cheng Xiu nodded as she stretched her neck to see past his broad shoulders to the device. She never thought she would find attractive shoulders annoying in her lifetime.

Yaksha turned to Cheng Xiu. "Use your sword to break it."

Cheng Xiu blinked.

Yaksha had the hourglass in his hand.

"That…your hand…"

"Its fine. Just cut it off."

Cheng Xiu looked at him in confusion and then rose the blade of her sword.

She looked at Yaksha once again to conform that this was what he really wanted her to do.

Yaksha nodded.

San Zhe looked away from the scene. He did not want to see the top expert of the game lose his arms just like that.

There was a sound of metal hitting some kind of a glass structure and then the ting of metal meeting metal.

There was a gasp of disbelief from Cheng Xiu.

Curious, San Zhe turned to look and stared at the scene in front of him.

Cheng Xiu's sword had neatly broken the hourglass and struck the hands of Lord Yaksha.

The only thing is…is did not seem to have cut him at all?

"You hand sounded like…" Cheng Xiu said and then stared at his hand, mystified.

"Metal?" Yaksha finished for her.

Cheng Xiu nodded. "Like metal."

"That is the reason why those of Level 60 and above at treated as the masters of the game."

"You mean…" Cheng Xiu stopped to think about what her thoughts were at the moment, "This is a skill that everyone will get after they reach Level 60?"

Yaksha laughed. "It is not a skill."

Cheng Xiu made a questioning sound.

"Rather, Level 60 onwards is called the Immortal Body level. Your body can not be hurt by any weapon that is below level 60."

Cheng Xiu sighed. "I see."

"Now San Zhe," Yaksha called.

"Huh?"

"It is your turn to break the glass."

"But I did not lose my memory?"

"Do it."

"Oh."

With that, San Zhe was coerced into stabing the bronze hourglass with his trident.

There was the sound of glass breaking again and the hourglass broke again.

Yaksha took a talisman from his storage ring and brunt it with Qi.

The fire engulfed the talisman and spread to the hourglass.

There was another cracking noise and the hourglass and the flames disappeared from Yaksha's hands.

Cheng Xiu had to say that she was really impressed by the fact that Yaksha had not even flinched at the fire that was caught in his hand. That required too much of a strong Psyche that Cheng Xiu was unsure that she would have.

[Ding!]

[Players Selafia, San Zhe, and Lord Yaksha have destroyed the weapon called Memorised Time. Players who were affected by the hourglass in the last 24 hours of the game, in-game time will have their memories restored. The players who were the direct cause of the destruction of the device will have their memories taken by the device restored completely.]

Cheng Xiu had a flood of informations that floated into her mind and allowed her to remember the things of the game that she did not question before.

[Ding!]

Cheng Xiu and the others looked up at that. There was more?

[Players Selafia, San Zhe and Lord Yaksha have garnered the attention of the Queens themselves. 60% chance of gaining aggro from the Queens when in their presence. If all three are present, then the person who attacked the hourglass first would be the enemy of the Queens.]

Cheng Xiu looked at the description and then glared at Yaksha. "You were the one who asked me to attack the hourglass first!"

"Apologies," Yaksha said with a chuckle.

Cheng Xiu felt like she wanted to tear something with her fingers. Preferably, Yaksha's face.

"You could have warned me!" she hissed. "I would have understood!"

"Yes…I could have, couldn't I?" Yaskha said, "Don't worry! I will tell you next time."

Cheng Xiu gritted her teeth.

"Besides," Yaksha said, "Isn't this your dungeon run? Please continue to work hard. That was the only reason that I let you do it first. You seemed so eager to be the first one in these kinds of situation."

Cheng Xiu's face is red under the mask as she suppressed her anger.

"Jackass," she called him.

"If you say so," he said nonchalantly.

San Zhe looked the two of them in exasperation.
