VRMMORPG: The Other World Online

Chapter 43 - The Mind VS The Experience.

The attack on Intelligence.

Cheng Xiu pointed her sword tip towards the orange robed man in front of her.

EverHill smiled and pointed his own spear tip at her. The shorter spear disappeared from his hand in a glow of light.

Cheng Xiu pulled her hand in a large arc and brought it down.

EverHill blocked the blow with his long spear and summoned the second spear once again. He tried to stab her from under her extended arm.

Cheng Xiu spun away and created distance between them.

"You are really good with a spear," She commented.

"And you are not bad with a sword yourself," he said. And he meant it. Though he could see the mistakes that she did which no Experts in sword fights would do. Like creating distance when fighting a spear user, SelaXiu was the only person who he had witnessed improve at such an insane rate in real life.

She corrected her mistakes fast, and used fight tactics faster.

He could guess at the reason behind it though. A high-functioning mind. He put her learning capability at A or above tier. If it was above A tier though, he would have to finish this fight really quickly.

VR games had a greater appeal than the ones most people listed when they talked about why they preferred VR over others, but EverHill agreed with the few gave the real reason. In VR, even a common non-Qi child could learn things faster. It was why the classroom system was changing to VR now.

For a person who was naturally a better learner than a normal person in real life, the VR made them 'immortals'.

And The Other World had the most player friendly VR too, making the efficiency of the brain of the Player reach an unseen hight.

Enemies with high functioning minds were people who could get adjusted to the fight rhythm faster than normal people. And in a VR environment, they should never be allowed to think, or learn from you.

EverHill spun the spear in his hand, pointing the headless part of the weapon.

Cheng Xiu hesitated, confused.

EverHill dashed forward, his weapon aimed at her chest cavity.

Cheng Xiu spread her legs and planted her feet.

She used the sword as a shield.

EverHill turned the spear around quickly, the sharp edge grazing the blade of her sword.

Cheng Xiu shuffled her feet and came up behind him and raised her sword to stab down into his back.

EverHill dropped to his hind legs and spun around. He used the two spears as a shield, Cheng Xiu's blade wedged between the V-shape created by the spears.

Cheng Xiu pushed down.

EverHill held on. He would have cursed out loud if he had a breath to spare. Not only was her Speed high, so was her Strength.

There were two possibilities of why this could happen.

One was that SelaXiu cultivation was Physical Prowess based.

The other was that she had filled out her Stats possibilities.

EverHill was unsure which was scarier, the Cultivation or the Stats maxed.

If it was a mix of both? A part of him questioned.

He would have to lay down his spear, call the girl Master, and ask her to teach him her way fo gaming.

Damned smart people.

EverHill extended his foot and tried to sweep Cheng Xiu off her feet.

Cheng Xiu flipped back.

EverHill jumped to his feet and dashed towards her, not giving her chance to gain her footing.

Cheng Xiu tumbled to the ground as she tried to avoid EverHill's jab towards her head.

She used her sword as a balancing stick and propelled herself forward.

She used her sword to hit way the tip of the incoming spear to her face.

Cheng Xiu panted. This man seemed to have an unbelievable amount of energy, being so persistent and not giving her a breather.

Cheng Xiu wanted to laugh as he ran towards her again. She wasn't sure if it was the adrenaline rush or something else but Cheng Xiu found herself enjoying this battle more than anything.

She felt delirious.

"I wouldn't have minded joining your Guild," Cheng Xiu said to him as she stopped another one of his attacks.

"But you won't," EverHill said with certainty.

"I promised my best friend I would join her stupid crush's Guild so that I can watch over her," Cheng Xiu grabbed the shaft of the spear and pulled it towards her, using the momentum to try stabbing EverHill in the left lung.

"A noble cause," EverHill agreed. A second spear appeared in his other hand and he pushed her sword away.

"Thanks," Cheng Xiu said and ducked as his weapon was swung towards her head.

Cheng Xiu spun around. "Sword Dance."

Two copies of her red Carp Sword appeared and thrust towards her opponent.

EverHill frowned and stepped back. He swung his hand, and hit the sword blades of the clone swords.

The blades were pushed back again and again.

Cheng Xiu dived in, dodging the one or two jabs that he thrust towards her.

"Isn't this a bit of cheating?"

"Is it?"

"Isn't it?"

"I just don't want to lose."

"Me too," he said with a laugh. "Forgive me for this then. Heart of Heaven!"

Two long javelins appeared in his hands, replacing the Spear.

The Javelins had a long, deep metallic blue shaft, and sharp crystal-like blades on one end.

"They are called as RynHearts," EverHill said as he ran towards her in full speed.

Cheng Xiu tried to back away.

"And I use them whenever I feel like I've met a great opponent. You should feel honored, Rookie."

"I'd rather not have such an honor."

EverHill smiled.. "I guess you wouldn't."
