14. In the Same Restaurant

Ling Mubai’s face darkened when he heard Wang Zicheng’s offhand remarks.

Everyone knew Wang Zicheng was a playboy, but Qu Wan was even in a relationship with such a person! Wasn’t she worried about her reputation being ruined?

Moreover, Wang Zicheng was infatuated with a model recently, so obviously, he was just toying with Qu Wan’s feelings!

At the thought of this, Ling Mubai couldn’t help but mock at him with a sneer, “Mr. Wang, I’m really impressed with your heavy taste!”

What he said reminded Wang Zicheng of the moment when Qu Wan bit his hand the day before.  “I can’t help! I’m a passionate person and I like women with strong personalities!”

With a sullen look on his face, Ling Mubai couldn’t hold back his anger anymore.

“Mr. Wang, I thought you were on this business trip for work, but it seems you came here to fool around with women!”

His words were full of sarcasm and his tone was obviously unfriendly.

However, as Wang Zicheng wasn’t a sensitive person, he didn’t catch the provocation in Ling Mubai’s words. “Having women around makes my job less boring!”

Now that Wang Zicheng hadn’t said anything offensive, Ling Mubai had no excuse to find fault with him.

He found this guy more and more annoying and as far as he was concerned, Wang Zicheng had no saving grace at all, and he was nothing but a scumbag!

“Qu Wan, you’re bound to get hurt with someone like that! You’ll regret it one day!”

Watching them drive away, Wang Zicheng stood where he was, wondering as the Wang family had never had any trouble with the Ling family, how come Ling Mubai was so mean to him. “This guy is a jerk!”

Before departure, Wang Zicheng’s father had reminded him to be especially wary of their rival, the Ling family, saying that as Ling Mubai was a mature and calm person, he would be a hard nut to crack and a formidable opponent.

“Bah!”

However, from the way Ling Mubai had reacted, Wang Zicheng could tell he was only a narrow-minded man who would by no means make great achievements.

“He must have known that we’re going to take bread from his mouth, so he was trying to pick on me. But it also shows that Ling Mubai is not as capable as he’s cracked up to be!”

“How dare he satirize me?”

“Ling Mubai, I’m not that easy to mess with! Let’s wait and see!”Wang Zicheng thought with a sneer.

The next morning, Qu Wan showed her face in Wang Zicheng’s office on time.

She was still wearing a dull, black suit with a pair of huge sunglasses over the bridge of her nose.

The moment Wang Zicheng looked up at her, he instantly roared, beating his own chest, “Qu Wan, why are you still wearing these damn sunglasses? I can’t see your beautiful eyes, and you know what? This is a waste and a shameful crime!”

Glaring at him without a word, Qu Wan made him a cup of coffee and put it on his desk before she walked back to her own place and started working. She needed to review Wang Zicheng’s schedule for today and arrange for the next day.

Picking the coffee cup up, Wang Zicheng sniffed hard. “The coffee smells good! Wanwan, you know my taste better! During your absence, I have no appetite for food and no mood for coffee. Have you noticed that I’ve lost weight?”

Qu Wan went on working without even looking up, just thinking of it as a crow croaking over her head. Hearing no response from her, Wang Zicheng had to stop nagging.

At lunchtime, instead of keeping Qu Wan away from him as usual, he insisted on her eating beside him and threatened that if she turned him down, he would dock her salary.

Though she was sick of him, Qu Wan couldn’t find an excuse to refuse him.

Instead of having lunch in the staff canteen, Wang Zicheng took her to the Trendy Flavor Restaurant nearby.

Qu Wan had always come to this restaurant with Ling Mubai for dinner before, so the moment she entered, she had an impulse to leave.

Taking a deep breath, she managed to suppress her turbulent emotions and walked into the restaurant with Wang Zicheng.

Like a gentleman, Wang Zicheng offered to pull the chair out for her and then unfolded the dinner napkin in front of her. “Wanwan, it’s said the dishes here are goddamn yummy, so I bring you here. I’m sure you’ll like them.”

Qu Wan didn’t answer. She had to admit that the chefs here were superb and the dishes they cooked were both visually appealing and delicious.

Picking up the menu, Wang Zicheng ordered a number of specials of this restaurant as well as two bottles of French red wine.

When he was about to order more dishes, his cell phone suddenly rang, so he picked up the phone and walked out.

As no one was buzzing in her ear, Qu Wan finally breathed a sigh of relief. She scanned around the restaurant casually and suddenly caught sight of Jiang Xinyue, who was sitting by a table nearby.

Jiang Xinyue was a very different person from when she first came to Jiang’s house.

She sat there gracefully and quietly, which would have made everyone think she was a well-mannered noble young lady at first sight.

With a sneer on her lips, Qu Wan recalled the moment when she had seen Qin Surong and Jiang Xinyue for the first time. After moving to Jiang’s house, the two seemed to have changed from sparrows to phoenixes!

Qu Wan turned her head and happened to see Ling Mubai walk in.

“It seems Ling Mubai takes Jiang Xinyue seriously, but as he has been here with me so many times, doesn’t he worry that it would affect his mood at dinner with his new girlfriend?”

However, next, it came to her that as heartless as Ling Mubai was, he would never really care about any woman, so needless to say, he wouldn’t be bothered by this.

Qu Wan didn’t want to cause their attention, so she changed her seat so that Ling Mubai and Jiang Xinyue couldn’t see her face.

After hanging up, Wang Zicheng went back to the restaurant. “Wanwan, the environment here is nice, isn’t it?” Seeing Qu Wan in another chair, he took the seat she had just taken.

As soon as he finished his words, he saw the two sitting behind Qu Wan.

Wang Zicheng’s face darkened in an instant. “I’m going to take back what I said. The environment here sucks!”

Qu Wan snorted, but she didn’t turn around. “Mr. Wang, you know them?”

“Not really. I only saw him a few times!” Wang Zicheng answered. “It was this bastard’s car that hit mine last time near your apartment. I don’t know why he drove so late at night to that desolated place where one could barely see a bird!”

He didn’t realize that the desolated place he was talking about was the neighborhood where Qu Wan lived until he finished his words, so he immediately put on a flattering smile. “Wanwan, sorry, I made a slip of the tongue! I hope you’re not offended.”

At this point, Ling Mubai looked in their direction. Though he could only saw Qu Wan’s back, he recognized her at once.

He was more certain it was Qu Wan, especially when he saw the one in front of her was that disgusting young master of the Wang family！

Feeling a twinge in his heart, Ling Mubai showed a grim look.
