31. How Blind They Were

He was still feeling sad about what had happened to her, but that woman was already on a dating show! At the thought of this, Wang Zicheng couldn’t help but flare up.

With a grim look, he turned to leave without a word, leaving the wooden floor squeak under his feet.

Watching his figure fade away, Qu Jianguo closed the door, confused. However, a moment later, Wang Zicheng returned and knocked on the door again. “Do you know the name of the dating show? Which TV station is hosting the program?”

After learning the information from Qu Jianguo, he walked downstairs, and there was still no smile on his face.

“You damn woman! How dare you go on a blind date secretly? You’ll know how I’m going to teach you a lesson!” As soon as he got into the car, Wangzi Cheng cursed angrily. Still feeling annoyed, he took out his cell phone and dialed the number of his assistant, Ning Fei. “Go check up on the dating show that’s on!”

Ning Fei was stupefied. “Mr. Wang, why are you so interested in a dating show?”

“Just do what I said! How come you’re so naggy?” Wang Zicheng yelled and then hung up grumpily.

Looking at his phone, Ning Fei was lost in thought. “What’s wrong with Mr. Wang? He’s not himself lately!”

However, as Wang Zicheng was his boss, Ning Fei didn’t dare protest even though he was unreasonable. Though he had no idea what was so special about this dating show, he had to collect the information about it asap.

Actually, he didn’t need to inquire about it at all, because the dating show was on the air now and as soon as he walked out of his office, he heard two of his female colleagues talking about it.

With a surprised look, Ning Fei walked back to his own office, searched for the name of the show on the internet, and next, he saw Qu Wan stand on the stage, wearing braces! Astonished, Ning Fei almost thought that his eyes were deceiving him.

Now he was aware of why Mr. Wang cared about the program so much.

He was certain it was Qu Wan. This woman shared the same name with Assistant Qu and her figure was quite similar to hers. “But why does a beautiful woman make herself so ugly?”

As far as Ning Fei was concerned, Qu Wan was kind of strange. Unlike those women who were all dolled up to get Mr. Wang’s attention, though Qu Wan was drop-dead gorgeous, she always dressed like a middle-aged woman.

What made him even more surprised was that she appeared on a dating show with braces! Moreover, she described herself as a divorced mother!

Wait… a divorced mother?

Ning Fei suddenly froze. “How could such a pretty young woman like Qu Wan be divorced and even have a two-year-old child? Is this some kind of a joke?”

“This might be false personal information fabricated by the TV station so as to add some gimmick stunt for this show!” Though he wasn’t quite sure what was going on, Ning Fei decided to report this important discovery to his boss, so he called Wang Zicheng at once.

“Mr. Wang, I saw Assistant Qu on the TV show.”

“I’m not blind!” Wang Zicheng roared.

As soon as he got into the car, he searched the program online on his cell phone and felt much relieved when he found no male guest had noticed Qu Wan, who dressed as a monster.

But next, he was seized by anger for no reason. “Are those guys blind? How could they ignore such a gorgeous woman all the time?”

“You idiots! I can’t believe you would rather choose those ugly women who had plastic surgery than her! How blind you are!” Wang Zicheng got ticked off.

He cursed loudly in the car, without thinking that like those men, he once turned a blind eye to the beauty by his side.

Sure enough, men were visual animals!

Wang Zicheng went on yelling angrily before Ning Fei could hang up, “Those guys are all blind! Or they are all idiots! How humiliating it was to stand alone on the stage and be ignored! I’m ashamed of her! It really pissed me off!”

“It’s none of your business whether someone chooses her or not! What are you ashamed of?” Needless to say, Ning Fei could only complain inwardly.

“You’re right, Mr. Wang! Those guys are all blind! It’s unbelievable that they didn’t even see such a beautiful lady right under their noses!”

Wang Zicheng blurted out a few more cursing words in response before he suddenly realized something wrong. “Ning Fei, are you mocking at me?” He took it for granted when he cursed, but when someone else did in the same way, he caught a hint of irony.

“No, Mr. Wang! What makes you think this way?”

“That must be the case! Well, it’s true that I didn’t find that Qu Wan was a beauty until she had been working with me for three months, so you must be satirizing me for being as blind as they are!” Wang Zicheng picked on him deliberately.

“Mr. Wang, don’t get me wrong! I dare not curse you even if you kill me!” Ning Fei said with a bitter face.

“You were aware that I wouldn’t go easy on you if you swore at me, so you did it inwardly. Am I right?”

“I swear to God I never cursed you!” Ning Fei’s forehead began sweating.

Now he finally knew why Wang Zicheng had been so moody these last few days. “It must have something to do with Assistant Qu. As long as she didn’t come to work, Mr. Wang would lose his temper.”

The more Wang Zicheng thought, the angrier he grew. “Damn it! How could those guys ignore Qu Wan’s existence and leave her alone on the stage all the time!”

He decided to find a way to help Qu Wan and make those stupid guys regret their poor taste! But what should he do?

Daring not ring off, Ning Fei had to listen to him grumble on the phone.

“Mr. Wang, maybe they thought Assistant Qu was dressed too modestly and she was a divorced woman with a child, so none of those guys chose her.”

“Hogwash! I wasn’t born yesterday and I don’t need you to remind me of such a simple thing!” Wang Zicheng said grumpily. “If I can find a way to have Qu Wan remove her mask, I’m sure those assholes will regret their decision!”

“That’s easy! Mr. Wang, you can send someone to attend the dating show and choose Assistant Qu as his favorite female guest. If Assistant Qu chooses him as well, she will take off her mask.” Wang Zicheng’s face lit up at Ning Fei’s words. “Good idea!”

Though no male guest chose her until the end of the first episode of the show, Qu Wan remained calm. However, Lin Yiyi couldn’t help but lose her temper and she kept on cursing when they were having dinner just like Wang Zicheng had done as if she were the one being neglected, “How could those guys be so blind?”

As she was going to record the second episode the next day, after returning home, Qu Wan took a shower and went to bed early.

After a while, her cell phone suddenly rang. “Wanwan, do you wanna make a hit?” Lin Yiyi’s lively voice rang on the other end of the line.

Qu Wan was stupefied, wondering what was wrong with her. “Yiyi, are you okay? What are you talking about?”

If Lin Yiyi was by her side, Qu Wan would definitely put her fingers on her forehead to see if she had a fever and then sent her to the hospital.

“I’m not running a fever and my mind is clear!” Lin Yiyi sounded excited. “Wanwan, you’ll be a household name soon!”

“Why?”

“I’ll keep it a secret for now! Have a good rest and get ready for tomorrow’s surprise!” With that, Lin Yiyi hung up.
