It Might Be Better Not to Let Kiniwa-san and Yurizono-san Collude With Each Other

The school festival is in late September, so there’s less than a month left. The student council election is held immediately after the festival, and after a week of campaigning, the election is held at the end of September.

If I don’t get Takanashi-san interested by the end of the festival, I won’t make it.

But that doesn’t mean we should rush.

The first thing we need to do is to appoint Yurizono-san as the chairman of the festival committee. I’m sure the president will take care of this.

The problem was choosing the committee members.

It has already been decided that I’ll be the vice-chairman and Alice will be the assistant. I’ve also decided to ask Takanashi-san and the others to help me.

But the job of the organizing committee is not only to make the panels. To make the festival a success, we have to keep track of all the activities.

It is also an important job to manage the performances of each grade and each class.

We have to make sure that there is no overlap in the performances and check for any danger or violations.

In addition, there are also cultural club performances.

The drama club is going to put on a play, and the light music club is going to put on a live concert, both of which will be held in the auditorium, so we have to coordinate the times and dates so that they don’t conflict.

Also, I can’t just select the committee members from my class.

If Takanashi-san and the others were to be on the committee, there would have to be four members from my class, including me. That would be too biased.

I think we should have a well-balanced selection of committee members from each grade, with Takanashi-san and the others helping to make the panels, not as committee members.

However, since the third-year students are studying for exams, the president said that the committee members would be selected from the second-year and first-year students.

Therefore, the committee members had to be selected from the sophomores and freshmen.

After the committee members were selected, they were divided into two groups.

Group A was in charge of the whole festival, and Group B was in charge of making the panels.

The problem here is Yurizono-san.

As the chairman of the organizing committee, she would not be able to be there all the time to make the panels.

To begin with, since she was the chairman of the organizing committee, she would have to be the head of Group A, which was in charge of the entire festival.

But the only person who knows how to make panels is Yurizono-san.

I don’t think I can make a decent panel without her.

“So that’s why.”

That’s what I explained to Alice and Yurizono-san.

I came to school early, and Alice and Yurizono-san are currently in a meeting in the student council room.

Incidentally, the president of the student council also came to school early and is sitting in her seat watching us with a smile on her face.

The vice president is also here, but he seems to be outside the student council room because of the panel of us in our swimsuits.

If he’s not coming in, I don’t think he needs to come to school early.

“I’m allowed to decide who’s on the committee, aren’t I?”

“Yes, you may.”

Yurizono-san asked the chairperson, who nodded and answered.

“Then I’ll leave the selection of the executive committee to the president.”

“Eh?”

When the president heard Yurizono-san’s words, she raised her voice in surprise.

“I’m not proud of it, but I don’t have many friends. Isn’t that right, Mirisu?”

“… Ugh, you’re so annoying.”

When asked by Yurizono-san, Alice raised her voice as she turned her face away with a pout.

“You don’t have a very wide circle of friends, do you, Amane-san?”

“No, I don’t.”

Yurizono-san asked me. I nodded and answered.

“So I’ll leave the selection of executive committee members to the president. If I can do whatever I want, I can leave it to the president.”

“Yes, that’s true. That’s also true.”

The President nodded at Yurizono-san’s words.

“But it’s an amazing idea. Normally, you’d be so worried about what you have to do that you can’t see what’s going on around you, but you simply rely on me. You are very interesting after all, Yurizono-san.”

The president muttered admiringly.

It’s certainly a great idea. I never thought I’d be throwing the selection of the executive committee to the president.

But it would be difficult for us, who lacked connections and had never been involved in the student council before, to suddenly elect a committee member. It was difficult, but I would have thought that we had to do it ourselves. But Yurizono-san was different.

I thought she was quick-witted, but she also seemed to have a flexible mind.

“Also, Amane-san will be in charge of making the panels. I’ll be the head of Group A, and Mirisu will be my assistant.”

“Eh?”

I couldn’t help but raise my voice at Yurizono-san’s words.

I’m in charge of Group B? I can’t make a panel.

“Didn’t you listen to onee-chan? You’re the only one who can make the panel, remember? How would we make it without you?”

Alice said what I was thinking.

“That’s simple. You just need to get Amane-san it. Stay at my house.”

“What?”

What do you mean, stay at Yurizono-san’s house?

“You don’t have to memorize it perfectly. I’ll be the head of Group A and visit Group B in my spare time. I have Mirisu as my assistant, so I think I can manage.”

I was stunned by what Yurizono-san said.

I was surprised when I heard that I was going to stay at Yurizono-san’s house, but I think it’s not a bad plan or even a very good one.

Yurizono-san is the head of Group A and occasionally appears in Group B. When Yurizono-san leaves Group A, her assistant, Alice, will take over as the head of Group A and lead it.

I think this is a very good idea, as it will give Alice the experience of standing above others.

“W-Wait a minute. I don’t care if you put me in charge of Group A, but I can’t allow onee-chan to stay at your house. You never know what you might do.”

I was about to tell Yurizono-san that we should go with that plan, but Alice interrupted me.

“Why don’t you stay with us, Mirisu, and we’ll give you VIP treatment?”

“M-Me too? And VIP?”

“You’re my best friend, so you’re VIP.”

“I-I see. Umm, let’s see… I see, yeah.”

Alice listened to Yurizono-san’s story and nodded, although she was upset.

I tried to wait for her, but she seemed to have been taken in by Yurizono-san.

I think she was attracted by the words “VIP treatment”.

“President, do you have the data from last year’s festival?”

“Yes, I do.”

Yurizono-san asked the president, who nodded and answered.

“I think it would be useful to have it in mind, so can I borrow it?”

“Please do. I’d be happy to lend it to you, Executive Committee Chairman.”

The president nodded happily when Yurizono-san asked her.

This was an unexpected development. I knew she was a quick thinker, but this is more than I expected.

“… Amazing.”

That’s what Alice muttered with a smile on her face.

Although she was smiling, her smile looked a little sad.

She must have been surprised and depressed at the same time, having witnessed Yurizono-san’s quick thinking and flexible ideas.

I was surprised this time, too. I can understand why Alice would be depressed.

“Well, you see…”

After rummaging through her bag, she pulled out what looked like a notebook.

“I’ve been told by Kiniwa Ena that she wants me to pretend that this is my research.”

After muttering this as she flipped through her notebook, Yurizono-san placed it on the table.

“It’s a survey of the popularity of me and Mirisu. It seems that Mirisu is by far the most popular.”

“Huh?”

Alice, who made a dumb sound when she heard Yurizono-san’s words, leaned forward and looked into her notebook.

“Mirisu kept taking care of me, you know. Everyone knows that. They call me one of the two most beautiful girls, etc., but I am who I am because of you, and you are indeed Minazuki Amane’s younger sister. So you should have more confidence in yourself.”

Yurizono-san speaks in a gentle voice while looking at Alice.

Alice, who was looking into her notebook, looked up and saw Yurizono-san.

“Mirisu. You are the one who is recognized by everyone, not me.”

Alice’s cheeks colored at Yurizono-san’s words.

The fact is that even if you have no talent, you are recognized by everyone.

“Did Ena-chan give this to Arisu-chan?”

(TN: Raw is “Yurizono-san” not “Arisu-chan”. Pretty sure that’s a typo.)

“Yes, she did. She asked me to keep it a secret, but I don’t have a taste for stealing people’s achievements.”

Yurizono-san answered my question with a nod.

“Kiniwa-san seemed to know that Mirisu was depressed about me. That’s why she gave this to me. Mirisu is a great girl. But words alone are not enough to convince me, so she prepared this evidence for me.”

“I see…”

Alice muttered to herself at Yurizono-san’s words.

Kiniwa-san came to my house yesterday. To help me with what I’m trying to do

She was also worried about Alice.

You’ve been running around without my knowledge, haven’t you?

“Mmm-hmm.”

Alice, who had been staring at Yurizono-san with dyed cheeks, sniffed and turned away with a puff.

“I-I’m not really happy to be shown this!”

She turned her head away and said that, but I could tell she was happy about it.

Yurizono-san smiled as if she felt it too.

Thank you Kiniwa-san. The fact that Alice is being recognized will surely give her confidence.

I want to thank Kiniwa-san, but she wants me to keep it a secret. But if I thanked her, Yurizono-san would get angry.

What should I do?

“Hmm? What is this?”

Before I knew it, Alice, who was supposed to be looking away, was holding a notebook on the table and looking at it.

“Ahh! No, you can’t!”

Yurizono-san, looking impatient, reached towards the notebook that Alice was holding. Alice quickly dodges it.

“Today’s Amane-chan is white. Today’s Amane-chan is striped. Today’s Amane-chan has polka dots. What is this?”

Alice, who was looking at her notebook, mumbled, and Yurizono-san’s face turned into a pout.

“T-That’s, I’ve been told not to show that to you! So you can’t look at it!”

Yurizono-san shouts with a pale face and tries to take the notebook that Alice is holding. But Alice dodged Yurizono-san’s hand.

I’m white? Stripes? Polka dots?

… No way.

When I think back on it, it matches exactly.

The color of my underwear.

“Alice, give the notebook back to Arisu-chan.”

“What? But it’s kind of weird, isn’t it? The idiot is distraught.”

“Just give it back. That notebook belongs to Ena-chan.”

“If you say so, onee-chan…”

When I told her to do so, she reluctantly handed the notebook back to Yurizono-san.

After receiving the notebook from Alice, Yurizono-san hugged it and patted her chest in relief. She then looked up at me and bowed her head, her ears turn bright red.

Kiniwa-san, you’ve been checking the color of my underwear?

Kiniwa-san said she would help us even though we kept her case against Takanashi-san a secret, and she also did her best to help Alice.

I’ll forget about the notebook.

But don’t look at my underwear again.
