White Fox Reincarnation In The World Of TenSura
Chapter 23 - Raid
The entire adventurer community has been quite busy lately. An anonymous adventurer has claimed to have found the Blood Hands' hideout and the subjugation quest has been moved up to A rank.
Many adventurers D rank and above are scrambling around, getting supplies, and preparing for the upcoming fight. Some tried to inquire about the identity of this anonymous adventurer, however, the Free Guild employee was very tight-lipped. The adventurers weren't worried about the validity of the info, as the Grandmaster himself has vouched for this information.
The Blood Hands bandits have been very elusive, any righteous person wanted the bandit group to be eliminated. They would never believe it if they heard how the notorious bandit group's hideout was revealed.
Of course, Shiro is going to join the attack. He's very curious how strong the bandit leader is, from what he saw through [Magic Sense], he looked very tough. Another reason why Shiro is participating is to give Kaz experience in fighting human enemies.
Shiro sat in his rented room in the inn. He stared at Kusabimaru, unsheathed. The black blade as dark as night felt as if it was devouring light itself.
Shiro was preparing his mind. This quest will make him kill a human, in one way or another. He hasn't killed a single human ever since he got reincarnated, his time as a human in his past life made him hesitant.
Shiro suddenly slapped himself. A small shockwave permeated the room, alerting Kaz. Kaz looked at his teacher weirdly.
'What the... why did he slap himself?'
Shiro ignored Kaz's judging stare.
'Think Shiro! Think. The Blood Hands are notorious for various vile acts. They deserve death. I need to steel myself. There will be a lot more bloody events in the future, the war with Falmuth kingdom for example.'
The bruise that resulted from his own slap healed quickly. Shiro stood up and looked at Kaz.
"Are you ready kid?"
"Aye Aye Captain."
...
Deep in the forest outside the capital of Ingrassia, a battalion of soldiers trekked through the dense collection of trees, bushes, and grass. They were accompanied by many adventurers, ranging from ranks D and A. The number of adventurers becomes fewer and fewer the higher the rank goes.
'Only thing she's missing is a pushover male interest' Shiro chuckled to himself.
«Would you like to use [World's Eye] on Zelt?»
'You just read my mind... literally. She's an A rank, let's see if she has a unique skill. Yes.'
«Confirmed.»
«Analyzing the individual Zelt.»
«Success.»
«Results: . . .»
Shiro didn't expect much so he wasn't surprised when he found that Zelt doesn't have a unique skill. He turned away his attention and focused on walking.
Zelt took a glance at Shiro. She felt his curious stare, which caught her attention. She first thought it was another pervert trying to size her up, but then Shiro quickly turned away his attention. Zelt didn't care much afterward and lost interest.
They soon reached the area mentioned in the anonymous report. A soldier approached an inconspicuous tree and pulled on it. A hidden trap door opened, confirming the validity of the info.
After confirming the info, the knight who was the leader of the battalion started giving out orders. There were many entrances and exits scattered around the forest. The knight divided the soldiers and adventurers and sent them to various entrances. Some had the task to join the raid and some were tasked to prevent any escapees.
Shiro, of course, joined the raiding party. He stayed in place, the area where he found the first trapdoor.
After sending a signal, the raiding party entered their respective entrances and trod carefully in the darkness. They encounter some bandits along the way and dispatched them quite easily, they didn't kill them, however, they chose to just tie them up and take them in as prisoners when the raid is over. Those of the B rank didn't fight early on, they were the ace of the operation, especially Zelt.
Even though the B ranks didn't fight, Kaz was participating. He needed the experience and was able to apprehend multiple bandits by himself, which impressed the soldiers and adventurers.
Seeing their reactions, Shiro rubbed his nose and made a smug face, as if he was saying: 'You see that! That's my disciple! I'm the one who taught him those moves! Am I awesome or what?' No one took notice of this and continued on.
They soon reached the inner parts of the cave system and encountered more high-leveled bandits. The B ranks had to participate now to lessen the load on their allies. Shiro still hasn't joined in and just kept humming songs {A/N: He's humming to Sabaton songs}
Not long after that they finally reached the core area of the cave system. It was a huge cavern with multiple tunnels on the walls leading to different entrances and exits, it was like an ant's nest. Many ladders and stairs made of wood or carved stone lead to these tunnels.
At the very end of the cavern, they saw a man sitting on a throne carved from stone, leaning on his fist, as if he was bored to hell.
