World Of Warcraft: Altered Time
Chapter 27 - The Undead are a problem Part 3 A Banshee Queen cometh
The ritual went well the next morning. Using the rising sun to bathe the area in light, the former Dawnblade felt the warmth it held. Magical inscriptions from K.s. passing a fair amount of knowledge off onto them.
The main one to prevent them from succ.u.mbing to a magical addiction. And knowledge on how Quel'Thalas was changed. And who was responsible. After Oaths were made, they were welcomed with opened arms into the forces.
Changed into Flame Elves helped to make them more effective. A rebirth if you will.
Joining as members of Azul's Elite Guard. Which was a nice addition. Currently, they were training the militia and the few soldiers created from the mana overnight. 1000 warriors assigned specifically for this area. 500 priests to help with changing the soil and keeping everyone up to fight.
Mixtures of Night Elves, Flame Elves, and Dranei in the population. Before a meeting could be held to discuss the situation in the area further, the early warning system went off.
(All hands priority alert. DEFCON 2 now engaged.)
"Damn it!" Azul shot out the meeting room through a window. Changing into a Lynx while running across the grounds. He was immediately flanked by a group of warriors on horseback. "Wipe everything outlet nothing make it to the walls!"
The order went out everywhere. Even with preparations, they were not expecting a wave of undead to appear first thing in the morning. All the fresh recruits would get a workout already it seemed.
Azul couldn't strike them down since the troops need the kills to get stronger. So he left one of the warriors in charge while he bulldozes through only injuring and causing confusion.
Keeping mindful of any strange undead in the group and at a higher level. His forces had no trouble seeing him since he was a pretty large Lynx with bright white fur. Not a drop of undead blood or puss matted his fur during the movements.
"Raaawwwr!" Give a large growl, the threat he generated to cause the enemy to focus on him. "Hup!" Azul jumped on a few then ran along the sea of undead. Eyes catching sight of the various state they were in. 'These undead.. are old?'
(Northpass Tower souls have been forced into existence. The Fel energy in the Eastern Plaguelands has grown stronger or someone has disturbed it. A few members of Tyr's Hand are also mixed in.)
K.s. message almost caused Azul to stop running. Not thinking he would have to deal with something like this was a foolish decision. In the game, the Northpass was just a simple PVP zone. Lore wise it was just a fallen bastion that didn't really get used until the change of the Argent Dawn into the Argent Crusade.
"Grooo!" A powerful undead made an appearance. At least level 35. Which was what Azul was afraid of happening. Not to far behind the undead were more undead of various level increas.e.m.e.nts.
"I think I went to far out!" Azul turned tail quickly jumping on the various undead. And like he declared he did go to far. So deep in thought and dead set on just causing distractions and searching for the problem, he didn't notice he went all the way up to the remains of Northpass tower. "Enough that I could have been ambushed like an idiot!"
(I would not let that happen. It serve a purpose since a few of the undead you jumped on actually died. So your threat level increased further. Which in turn called the higher levels from locations.)
'That is not good at all!' Azul jumped high from an undead that had chains. His eyes going wide having gotten a better view of the undead. "So..freaking..many!"
Someone was really causing trouble the plguelands. Not only were Azul's forces that arrived in the area were outnumbered like when they first arrived but they were outnumbered a 100 to one!
*Fwoosh!* A change he left the Lynx form turning into his Blood Elf warrior class. His weapon turning into his dual-wielding swords. The numbers were so high t was best he cut the enemy down in the middle.
"Think! Think! Who the hell in the Eastern Plagulands would do a push towards the Ghostlands?!" Cutting the low-level undead down just increased his threat range. The only good thing was that the high-level undead were so as hell. "It cannot be because of the city I just erected! Who could be running a campaign in the area!?"
As if to answer his question, a volley of arrows fired from the east. Followed by the war cry of orcs.
"Well.. the Horde.. that is odd!" Azul moved back cutting a small path to give room for the warthog riders. The arrows continued to rain down in a few spots making it difficult to keep dodging the enemy attacks easily. "Forget it!"
Flying up with a kick from the head of some undead, he changed into a Mage. Hands outstretched as he fired a string of firebolts. The rapid-fire was almost that like a machine gun keeping him sustained in the air.
"Blasted filthy disgusting undead!" His anger erupted the moment he felt a few of his people health get to the critical zone. Azazel and the rest didn't even come to the area as a wave of undead had attacked the outskirts of Sapphire City from every direction. 'K.s., did anyone pick anything up they were not supposed to by chance?'
(No, it is because the concentration of life. As well as your magic itself. Uncontrolled undead will flock to you. You are a delicious meal to them.)
'Tch! Not going to ever get to Deatholme at this rate! To much in the Ghostlands and now this!' Azul waited to a patch of undead were taken out by the riders. Seeing the big undead finally making it over he needed to vent his frustration more. "I need more power!"
*Fwish!* Fueled by anger, Azul went low producing wings of flame. His shot through the undead directly towards the big one burning a wave of destruction. As a giant flame arrow made nothing of the undead, a few pegasus riders had arrived at the rear to provide support.
"Ha.. ha.. hah. burned through my many pretty quick! Only a little bit left for fighting!" Seeing the undead turning towards him despite the orc riders running through him, he gritted his teeth and made the decision to move them further away from the direction of the new city. "I don't think I like being the bait!"
As Azul flew up just blasting away, the Horde leaders watched from a distance not engaging for now. Two particular in their ranks were an orc by the name of Thrilla and an elf by the name of Sylvanas.
At Sapphire City-
Azazel and the forces kept fighting around Sapphire City with everything they had. Any time a break was allowed they regrouped and healed burning through the potions made so far.
Rotating out as need be to keep everyone fresh also allowed them to fight longer.
A Blood Elf group came up to one of the guard posts at one point. Carrying a summons that needed to be met.
"Who are you to demand anything from us?" Azazel asked the female that was in charge. Something about her just reeked of a snotty attitude. Above her head, the name Lyandra Sunstrider appeared. 'I have know idea who she is. Blasted Azul has most of the memories of the Blood Elves of note."
"I am Lady Lyandra," she said calm but haughtily. "this is an invitation to visit Silvermoon for Lord Azul. Was told by Lady Nocturne that he should be around here." Casting her gaze out, she did not see him. But the number of Blood Elves left her in awe. "So many.. in control of themselves. Not a single one looks.."
"Aching for a fix." Kalar came up on horseback. A small squad of warriors on horseback coming up behind him. "It has been a long time Lyandra."
"Yes.. it has.." Lyandra was numb for a bit. To many shocks at once for the noblewoman. ".. the rumors are true it seems. Then I hope you can help me with something. For old time sake."
"Name it."
"Get me an audience alone with your Lord." Lyandra stated in desperation. "It is most urgent."
"In time, sure. But right now we are busy. Needing to bolster this area as we prepare for the others." Kalar directed the troops behind him to get started. The riders shot off to take on patrols on the outskirts. "I think our Lord will return in a few days for supplies. A good chance to meet him then."
"That is great. Then I can escort him to the meeting in Silvermoon." Lyandra had a smile on her face as everything seemed to be working out. "Are your forces going to join the crusade in the Eastern Plaguelands?"
"Crusade perhaps?" Kalar was a little bewildered. "Not in the Eastern Plaguelands I hope."
"Eastern Plaguelands.." Azazel muttered before a big warning sign smacked him in the head. ".. not even remotely close. Our forces are not planning to step foot there for a long time. This is just out of survival needs. Until the city defenses are completely operational."
.
A meeting-
.
Azul and company were currently taking a break from cleaning the area of undead filth. Which took over a week to do so. Gaing just a single level was not the problem, the amount Fel energy produced made him despise the Eastern Plaguelands and really just wanted to nuke the entire place!
A very odd group came up to them.
The Forsaken and its leader the Banshee Queen were heading to Silvermoon for a meeting.
"So the rumors are true." Sylvanas moved around with her undead keeping a steady watch. They heard the shouting and curses Azul said towards the uncontrolled undead. "You really walk once more. Plan on ruling the various Elves?"
"My elves.. yes." Azul stated. He wanted to be clear on his goals. "No matter the current state they are in. But I am not allowing them to stay undead. That is just stupid."
He kept the revulsion to himself. Just didn't sit right to animate the dead and call them people.
"You can reverse the process?" Slyvannas arched an eyebrow. Rumors of his magic was well known and could change the scope of things. The simple nod did unnerve her a little. As if it was no big deal to do so. "What do you ask for in return?"
"Loyalty." Azul stated simply. "Each person I fix signs a contract. Working a few years time under me or someone else till I am satisfied."
"The right to do would be.."
"To kill the undead. Yes, I know." Azul smirked looking at the former Paladin turned Death Knight. "It is the least I could do to set things right."
"Purge the monsters in Holy Fire my lord." The zealot, Corona said. A few others nodding along with that statement. "They are an affront to nature, let's send them on their way."
"Yeah!" The crowd chimed in. So many of them were done in by undead before. None to happy about even speaking with the creatures. Not to mention the recent fighting against the creatures did not help.
"Surely you can be civil about this?" A dark priest was not liking this. Someone with the cure to their affliction was right there and willing to do something about them. How could he let the chance slip by. "Lady Sylvanas.. "
Slyvanas held up her hands to silence her people before they started protesting.
"How about a show of good faith?" Slyvanas rather help her people then start a fight if they were able. 'If a small ground can be met it will help even further. Still have to eliminate that target.'
"Very well." Azul understood where she was coming from. "Bring undead children you have. A max of 10 and I will restore them."
"No need to wait. We have 10 with us now." The dark priest stepped to the side as a few walked out. "
"How macrabe." The Zealot, Corona spoke with disgust but her eyes teared a little. A tightening grip on her mace begged the question, to slay them outright and save them from the pain or not. "Please be gentle with them."
"I will do as I must." Azul lifted his hands into the air. Fel magic stretched from the ground wrapping the undead children up. Slowly their flesh was peeled away. Holy light started to generate next from the center of their c.h.e.s.t. "Pain is the price of life."
*Splat!* With a pull, the bodies ripped open the rest of the way. Every trace of the rotting flesh was removed along with the Fel magic.
The holy light grew brighter as limbs started to grow. The epicenter and the heart of each of them. Mana tendrils kept hold of the brain as it dissolved and reformed.
Then it was over.
