Chapter 1295 Potala Palace
Tibet has countless myths from ancient times to the present, and its name itself is full of mystery.
In ancient times, in the Yalong River Valley in Shannan, Tibet, there was a mild climate and deep mountains and dense forests. There lived a macaque on the mountain.
Later, the macaque married a rock rakshasa woman and gave birth to six little macaques.
The old monkey sent them to live in a forest with abundant fruits. After three years, when the old monkey went to see them again, they had multiplied into more than 500 monkeys. Because there was not enough food, some of them fought with each other, scratched their faces, and pulled off their ears. The monkeys were hungry and cried sadly. When they saw the old monkey coming, they surrounded him and shouted: "What can you give us to eat!?"
Raised his hands to ask, his appearance was very miserable. Seeing this scene, the old monkey felt very sorry. So he led them to a hillside full of wild grains, pointed to the monkeys and said, "You can eat this!"
From then on, the monkeys ate wild grains that were harvested without planting. Their hair gradually became shorter, their tails gradually disappeared, and they could speak again, and then evolved into humans.
In addition to being passed down orally, this myth is also recorded in many Tibetan historical works such as the Complete Collection of Mani, Records of Tibetan Kings, The Banquet of Sages, and Records of Tibetan Kings and Ministers. It is naturally just a coincidence with the scientific conclusion that a kind of ancient ape evolved into a human being. It is just a totem worship of the clan in the ancient primitive society. The fundamental difference between the two is "labor".
However, when the myth describes the plots of macaques eating wild fruits and wild grains in the forest, it shines with a certain degree of simple historical materialism. As for the plots in many historical records that macaques are the incarnation of Guanyin Bodhisattva, that they get married and have children because of Guanyin's enlightenment, and that the five kinds of grains are also given by Guanyin, these are undoubtedly the result of some later Buddhists processing this myth.
In addition to the myths and legends about the origin of mankind in Tibet, there is a myth circulating in some Tibetan areas of Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province: In ancient times, floods flooded the fields, mountains and humans. Only the brother and sister got into the cowhide and floated for seven days and seven nights before the water receded and they survived. The brother and sister got married under the circumstances of no choice and reproduced the current human beings.
Several brotherly ethnic groups in southwest my country have roughly the same flood myths. This kind of myth records the flood disasters in ancient times and reflects the situation of "blood endogamy".
The myth also mentions the scene of drought when it does not rain and crops suffer from drought, as well as millstones, winnowing baskets, sieves and other agricultural production-related utensils, indicating that this myth was produced during the period of agricultural development. Some variant texts say that the flood was caused by a major earthquake, the collapse of the mountains, and the blocking of the river, which is a reflection of local natural disasters.
Of course, there are more absurd legends. One myth says: At the beginning of Tai Chi, there was an egg formed by five treasures. Later, the egg broke, and a hero was born from it. This hero has a lion's head, an elephant's nose, and a tiger's claws. His feet are as sharp as a knife, and his hair is as hard as a sword. There are two horns on his head, and the bird king Dapeng lives in the middle of the horns.
The heroic image in this myth is probably a mixture of totem worship, a symbol of clan alliance or clan fusion. It belongs to the same type as the various strange characters described in the Han nationality's Shanhaijing. It also expresses the ideological desire of people to become brave and powerful like lions and tigers and other beasts under the living conditions at that time, and to have hard and sharp hands and feet like swords, so as to be more conducive to the struggle for survival.
After saying so much off-topic, readers must know where Gu Hongyu is going. Yes, the clue left by Laoguai and Gu Daochang is to go to Tibet, and more specifically to the Potala Palace.
The Potala Palace is located on the Mabu Ri Mountain in the northwest of Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is the world's highest-altitude magnificent building that integrates palaces, castles and temples. It is also the largest and most complete ancient palace complex in Tibet.
The entire palace is built on the mountain, with overlapping buildings, majestic halls and magnificent momentum. It is an outstanding representative of Tibetan ancient architecture and the essence of Chinese ancient architecture.
The main building is divided into two parts: the White Palace and the Red Palace. The palace is more than 200 meters high, with 13 floors on the outside and 9 floors on the inside. There is a Potala Palace Square in front of the Potala Palace, which is the highest city square in the world.
The Potala Palace was originally built by the Tubo Dynasty King Songtsen Gampo to marry Princess Bhrikuti and Princess Wencheng. After the fifth Losang Gyatso rebuilt the Potala Palace in 1645, the second year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, it became the winter residence of the lamas of all generations, as well as the venue for major religious and political ceremonies. It is also a place to enshrine the stupas of the lamas of all generations, and the ruling center of Tibet in the old days.
At the same time, the Potala Palace is a holy place of Tibetan Buddhism, and countless pilgrims and tourists come here every year. In March 1961, the State Council listed it as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. In December 1994, UNESCO listed it as a world cultural heritage. In January 2013, the National Tourism Administration listed it as a national tourist attraction.
In winter, the cold wind did not stop people from visiting the Potala Palace, especially those devout pilgrims. Every few steps, the whole person completely prostrated on the ground, and completely ignored the snow on the ground and the low temperature. The pilgrimage behavior was shocking.
Here, the behavior of countless pilgrims has become a beautiful scenery, and it is also a picture that cannot be seen in other places.
However, these had no appeal to Gu Hongyu. He had just arrived at the Potala Palace when he felt the latest spiritual marks left by the old monster and Taoist Gu. Following this information again, Gu Hongyu soon came to a remote area of the Potala Palace, and finally found a magic array restriction that ordinary people could hardly detect on an inconspicuous stone wall.
Without thinking, Gu Hongyu used his spiritual sense to touch the magic array restriction, but the next scene stunned him. He seemed to be swallowed by a huge vortex, and soon he came to a closed space.
Just when he felt extremely confused, the old monster's laughter came from the surrounding space: "Since you are here, follow the passage quickly. Lao Gu and I are about to set up a formation to repair the spiritual energy. It's just right for you to watch it."
Gu Hongyu didn't ask what place this was for the time being. The dark environment did not affect his sight. First, he looked at the environment. This should be a huge underground palace. There was a deep passage next to where he was standing. The old monster and Taoist Gu should be at the other end of the passage! To be continued.
