Internet Download Manager is an awesome piece of software. It'll not only significantly boost download speeds, you can also use it to resume downloads that might've been interrupted.

Additionally Internet Download Manager will allow you to download any picture, video, gif, etc you see. You'll also be given a prompt where you can specify where you want certain things to be downloaded.

This prompt is also amazing for stopping automatic link downloads, which can save you from tons of problems.
