When being confronted by the police, if you don't know your rights and the police regulations, anything you do can incriminate yourself.

One example would be a false DUI charge which happens very often. You can easily fail a sobriety test even if you're 100% sober.

The tests are also very subjective and a multitude of factors usually work against you such the blinking lights, uneven ground, and general darkness.

Prejudice is definitely also an issue. If someone pulls you over because they think you're drunk, that'll heavily screw their judgement.

Just remember that anything you say can be used against you. Not saying anything will also be used against you.

There are also an endless amount of idiotic phrases that can be used to manipulate you into doing what they want such as "If you've got nothing to hide..." and "Only guilty people act nervous."

"Polite talk" is just used to further characterize you. They'll pay attention to key factors such as occupation and habits.

Just remember to stay polite and keep a hidden recording device on hand, just in case.

There have been cases where police have planted evidence before, so it really doesn't hurt to be cautious.

I definitely don't hate/dislike police officers, it's more about not blindly trusting a stranger, especially one that could easily ruin your life.
