To be prepared you naturally have to inform yourself about any likely dangerous situation you might end up in. For example: if you end up in outer space without a space suit, do not hold your breath. The vacuum of space will pull the air out of your lungs which would definitely destroy them. Any oxygen left in your body will then start to rapidly expand, causing your body to balloon. Liquids, such as the ones coating your tongue and eyes will obviously start to burn.
