7. Ninitar, the Gatekeeper

In Rocktown, the door of the Destiny Pet Shop was tightly shut, and the lights inside were dim. In the main hall, there was a glowing hexagram array on the ground, with a door standing on it.

The door was pitch black and glossy. At first glance, it looked like it was made of jade, rotating slowly over the array. Strangely, it didn’t touch the ground but hovered two fingers high over it.

There was a young man sitting cross-legged on a carpet in the hall. He had black hair and looked very handsome. His eyes were tightly shut and he was completely immersed in his meditation. There was a glowing hexagram array on his forehead, a miniature version of the one on the ground.

This person was none other than Mu Yunshen.

Six years had passed and compared to his 18-year-old self, he was much more mature and reliable now.

After a long time, he took a deep breath and opened his eyes.

A voice rose at this moment. “Congratulations, Master. You have reached Hellpower Level 4 successfully and your Gate of Hell has grown to 100 centimeters.”

Mu Yunshen followed the voice and saw a creature with a cat face standing there.

He had a face of a cat which was white but a body of a man, and he wore a gold-trimmed black magic robe. His two sharp ears pierced through the hood of the robe. He had a pair of small boots on his feet and he held a wand with the other end in the shape of a cross. At this point, he was standing solemnly in the hall, looking at Mu Yunshen.

He was Ninitar, the gatekeeper who appeared six years ago when the Gate of Hell was first opened. He was also a carrier for Mu Yunshen to get the things inside the Gate. Mu Yunshen was currently unable to enter the Gate, so he had to rely on Ninitar to get what he wanted inside.

Because Ninitar was the gatekeeper, not Mu Yunshen’s servant. He served whoever owned the Gate of Hell.

For the past six years, he and Mu Yunshen got along very well. Ninitar was a creature inside the Gate of Hell and the language he spoke belonged to that world. However, Mu Yunshen could naturally understand it. From the first time he heard Ninitar’s voice, he could understand Ninitar’s language.

In Ninitar’s words, Mu Yunshen’s soul belonged to the Hell World so he naturally understood him. It was Mu Yunshen’s mother tongue with a language mark on his soul.

However, Mu Yunshen could only speak Starworld language. Therefore, at first, it was difficult for the two to communicate since it was just Mu Yunshen who could understand Ninitar, but not the other way around. Fortunately, Mu Yunshen had an advantage. As he stayed with Ninitar longer, he seemed to recall his “native language” deep in his soul, so it slowly became easier for him to talk with Ninitar in Hell language.

“Ninitar, you’ve become bigger, too.” Mu Yunshen said.

When the Gate of Hell was opened for the first time, it was only 10 centimeters high. In order to get out of the Gate, Ninitar needed to turn himself as tiny as less than 10 centimeters tall. As Mu Yunshen’s Hellpower Level went up, the Gate continued to grow, so was Ninitar. Now, he was about 90 centimeters tall, equivalent of a three-to-four-year-old child.

“This is all thanks to you, Master,” Ninitar’s cat face was full of seriousness. He had always had this expression. In the past six years, Mu Yunshen had never seen him have any other expression. Such a cute cat face but such seriousness.

Ninitar glanced at the shop door behind Mu Yunshen with big round eyes. “Master, some guests are coming. I’ll go back for now.”

“Okay,” Mu Yunshen replied.

Ninitar bowed respectfully to him and turned to the black jade door over the hexagram array.

Mu Yunshen stopped his cultivation and the black jade door stopped rotating. Ninitar walked over and pressed his white paw against the jade door, pushing it open and walked in. The black jade door closed again, leaving only Mu Yunshen and itself in the shop.

“Here’s a pet store. I wonder if they have any Fennec Fox for sale,” a girl’s voice came from outside.

“Well, it’s on Planet Marka. How can there not be any Fennec Fox?” Another girl’s voice rang.

“Go in and take a look,” it was a man’s voice.

“Why is the store closed during the day? Does the owner want to do business or not?” A slightly arrogant voice came over.

A thought crossed Mu Yunshen’s mind. The black jade door shrank quickly to as high as his finger and returned to his hand as he put it around his neck, then tucked it in his collar.

The hexagram array in the hall and the smaller one between his brows disappeared at the same time, as if nothing had happened.

Mu Yunshen was forced into Hellpower cultivation. Six years ago, he almost lost his life. After absorbing Hellpower, he couldn’t stop for the rest of his life. It became his source of life, something that he had to rely on to survive. He cultivated every day to just for living, not for power.

Even till now, he had no idea what Hellpower could do. Now that he had ascended to Hellpower Level 4, there was nothing different except the size of the Gate and Ninitar grew.

However, no matter what, he was grateful that the Gate appeared. It was the Gate of Hell and Ninitar that saved him and his child. Even if he had to rely on it for his life, he could not complain it.

Mu Yunshen walked over and opened the door. There were four young people standing outside, two men and two women, all pleasure to the eye. One of the young men was about to knock on the door when it opened, so his hand stopped in the air.

This was a familiar face. Wasn’t he the one Mu Yunshen beat when he first returned to Rocktown six years ago?

It was the Lu Zhenghao who had led a few hooligans to Yunfeng Factory to cause trouble.

Lu Zhenghao turned around and smiled at a brown-haired young man behind him. “Master Deron, such a small store is not worth your visit. If Miss Maya really wants a Fennec Fox, we might as well go to a bigger pet store where the bloodline of the foxes can be guaranteed.”

Deron was obviously not someone who liked shopping. He had finally run into a pet store, so he didn’t want to continue looking around.
