134. Prince Rui’s Injured

Translator: Flying Lines

“Xiao ShengNian!”

There rang a heart-rending cry, mixed with endless anger and sorrow, as if it was about to penetrate a person’s ear, which made people feel a grip in their heart.

Su Jie’s eyes were wide open and he was furious. He felt his heart was about to jump out of his throat and a burning pain.

Su Jie knew that he could not dodge the third arrow, and was about to shield it with some a less vital part of his body when a figure came over in front of him, face to face. The arrows whizzed over and penetrated into Xiao ShengNian’s body in an instant.

Su Jie was first stunned, then he was moved and felt fury burning in his heart, followed by a mixture of other complicated feelings.

In his life, Su Jie had never thought that someone would stand in front of him when danger came.

Xiao ShengNian stood firmly there like an impassable mountain that sheltered Su Jie on this side of the mountain while keeping crisis at the other side.

The impact of the arrow made Xiao ShengNian lean forward as he felt a sharp pain in his right arm, but he didn’t say a word, not even moving his feet.

Xiao ShengNian did not know why he would block the arrow for Su Jie without hesitation.

Facing Su Jie, he watched the handsome young man shed tears.

Xiao ShengNian left his back to the archer. Luckily, Yun Hui was used to shooting only three arrows at a time. If he shot another arrow, Xiao ShengNian would sure die in State Yanling.

Xiao ShengNian didn’t think too much about it when he stood in front of Su Jie to block the arrow. When he felt a piercing pain in his arm, he suddenly realized that Su Jie had become so important in his heart.

So important that he was willing to protect him with his life.

However, before Xiao ShengNian could give it more thought, he heard Su Jie’s heart-wrenching cry.

Xiao ShengNian was startled, because Su Jie’s voice was so loud that even Xiao ShengNian’s brain ached.

“I’m right next to you. Are you shouting so loudly to deafen me?” Xiao ShengNian’s voice was as gentle as always, his look calm as ever. Because he had never seen Su Jie so angry and anxious, Xiao ShengNian held back the pain and comforted with a smile, “It’s all right. It’s just a minor injury.”

Su Jie was almost crazy. He wished he could tear the person shooting the arrow into ten thousand pieces.

His cheeks were a little wet, like some hot liquid flowing down. Su Jie touched his face and found himself crying out of worry!

He was crying!

Su Jie’s mind seemed to go blank for a moment, but wasn’t a bit slow in action as he hurried to support Xiao ShengNian’s body.

After checking Xiao ShengNian’s back, Su Jie found that the arrow was in Xiao ShengNian’s arm.

The blood oozing out was healthy red, which indicated the arrow was nontoxic.

As he breathed a sigh of relief, Su Jie’s heart ached again. Seeing Xiao ShengNian injured, he felt even worse than himself being injured.

“Why did you block arrow for me? I’m rough skinned and will recover soon, full of vim and vigor in a few days. Being injured is common like three meals a day for me, so you shouldn’t stand in front of me.” Seeing several doctors coming over to support Xiao ShengNian, and Xiao ShengNian’s face was a little pale but still calm and cool as always, Su Jie couldn’t tell what kind of feeling was in his heart.

There seemed to be threads entwined around his heart. The continuous and sharp pain like reeling silk from cocoons made Su Jie involuntarily stroke his chest.

Why was it so painful?

He would rather take an arrow himself than see Xiao ShengNian injured.

Seeing Xiao ShengNian standing in front of him, Su Jie was panicky. He was afraid that Xiao ShengNian would fall asleep in this land forever.

Su Jie had killed a lot of people, seen many partings between loved ones as well as different people’s reactions before they died.

Suddenly, Su Jie’s thoughts went a bit far into the past when he carried out his first mission, he and a few Man of Sacrifice were working together to kill the gangsters.

After the head of the bandits died, Su Jie did not kill the beautiful woman, but let her go home.

However, to his surprise, the woman had committed suicide beside the bandit head, and muttered with difficulty before her death, “Without him, I don’t have any home…”

At that time, Su Jie was in a daze and did not stop for a second. But he really couldn’t understand why the beautiful woman was willing to die with the burly and rough bandit head?

But now Su Jie understood it. The moment Xiao ShengNian was injured, Su Jie had the same idea of dying with him should anything happen to Xiao ShengNian.

Su Jie’s eyes reddened a little and he almost wanted to catch the man in person, torturing him fiercely.

However, seeing that Gongsun Yi had taken several soldiers to chase after Yun Hui, Su Jie temporarily held back his rage and stayed beside Xiao ShengNian.

The civilians were thrown in panic but were soon dispersed by the soldiers. Su Jie and Xiao ShengNian were escorted to the nearby hotel by some elite soldiers.

Seeing that His Highness had a sullen face, the doctors went forward to treat Xiao ShengNian’s wound with great caution.

The arrow pierced quite deep. One could deduce that the person shooting the arrow had great strength, which meant that it was not easy to pull it out.

These doctors each had their own merits for having the qualification to be by Su Jie’s side.

Xiao ShengNian was sweating all over. Although the arrow didn’t  hurt any of his vital parts, as a noble prince of State YanHui, he seldom got hurt. At this moment, the pain in his right arm was so sharp like it was being cut by a knife that Xiao ShengNian had to use all his willpower to not let the groans escape his lips.

Seeing Su Jie’s anxious and angry face, Xiao ShengNian felt a surge of sweetness in his heart. He felt that his injury was worth it, because his little slave cared for him and even worried to the extent of crying.

Thinking of this, Xiao ShengNian felt the pain on his arm was not worth mentioning. The corner of his mouth curled up into a faint but graceful smile, and his voice was gentle and casual. “Sit down and rest for a while. You’d make me distressed if you tire yourself out.”

Xiao ShengNian said it in the most elegant and calm manner, but the doctors’ hands shook out of shock. Who dared to talk in such a manner in front of the His Highness the Crown Prince?

Moreover, the words of the injured man were ambiguous, as if he was teasing His Highness?

The doctors were all about fifty or sixty years old, and they were very attentive to everything about Su Jie.

Hearing Xiao Shengnian saying those teasing words in all seriousness, Su Jie felt distressed again. Although Su Jie had seen bloody scenes, the last thing he wanted to see was the blood from Xiao ShengNian.

“I’m going out to see if the assassin was caught.” After saying that, Su Jie stormed out of the room in a hurry, more like escaping.

*

“Your highness, the assassin is caught.” Gongsun Yi came back in a relaxed posture, in high and vigorous spirits.

Behind Gongsun Yi was Xuan Wu and Shang Liu, the two young men each dragging one of Yun Hui’s arms and brought Yun Hui to Su Jie.

Yun Hui’s legs had already been broken by Gongsun Yi. Yun Hui had planned to fight the soldiers after getting far away from the courtyard and kill a few more people before he died.

However, it was Gongsun Yi who led the men to go after him.

Gongsun Yi was able to wield both the pen and the sword and a promising young general with great achievements. Although Yun Hui’s skills were not bad, he was not good at fighting alone. After a few moves, Yun Hui was defeated.

Then Xuan Wu and Shang Liu caught up, launching a sneak attack on Yun Hui.

What made Yun Hui even more upset was that Gongsun Yi was carrying the Powerless Powder and forced him to take it; after that, he even broke Yun Hui’s legs.

When Yun Hui came to assassinate Su Jie, he didn’t hide poison in his mouth as Gong Che did. He wanted to die in battle, but didn’t expect that a general like Gongsun Yi would chase after him instead of guarding by Su Jie’s side.

Yun Hui wanted to commit suicide, but his mouth was stuffed with cloth which Shang Liu had torn apart from his robes.

When he was brought to Su Jie, Yun Hui was not in panic. But seeing that Su Jie was not injured, Yun Hui felt a sense of frustration in his heart, but more of disbelief.

How was that possible?

How could this skinny crown prince dodge his third arrow?

Yun Hui felt it hard to believe and was furious for he failed to kill Su Jie.

Though consumed with mixed feelings and emotions, Yun Hui seemed very calm on the surface. He just stared coldly at the crown prince in front of him.

The crown prince was wearing a white robe, which along with the golden flower under his eye made him look so pure and noble like an immortal descending to the mortal world.

This was the first time Yun Hui had seen Su Jie so close. He had to admit the fact that the crown prince looked stunning.

Yun Hui had thought that Su Jie would take out the cloth in his mouth and ask something, but Su Jie just ordered with a poker face to put Yun Hui into a separate cell.

Yun Hui’s legs were piercingly painful. After his legs were broken by Gongsun Yi, Shang Liu and Xuan Wu dragged him all the way back with no mercy. His pants stained with mud, he now cut quite a sorry figure.

However, this was just the beginning of the nightmare.

After Yun Hui was locked in prison, he still wanted to kill Su Jie, but he didn’t have the slightest bit of strength left. He also felt himself useless. Not only did he fail to shoot Su Jie to death, now he could not even die.

Yun Hui lay on the cold floor of the prison. The pain on his leg made him frown, but then he heard the sound of the cell door being opened.

The crown prince walked in, dressed in white.

Yun Hui’s mind was in a mess, and he vaguely remembered that the crown prince’s name seemed to be Su Jie.in

Yun Hui had already made up his mind that if Su Jie wanted to interrogate, he would delay the time until he got some strength recovered and then found a way to kill Su Jie.

However, Yun Hui soon knew that he was wrong.

The young crown prince did not want to ask him, instead, he tried all kinds of instruments of torture on him.

“Ah!” The cloth in his mouth was taken out, and Yun Hui could not help but shake his powerless body as feeble groans came out of his mouth.

After Su Jie left, the guards were all stunned when they came to lock the prison door.

Yun Hui was covered in blood, and his legs and arms were cut off and thrown by the side. His eyes were hollow, leaving only two red wholes of blood, which looked a little scary. His mouth was full of blood, obviously, his tongue had been cut.

The soldiers only felt their scalp tingling. They had always thought that His Highness the Crown Prince was pure and holy like a god. Now they saw such a bloody scene and thought of His Highness walking out with a smile, they couldn’t help shivering in fear.

It turned out that the holy, ethereal and pure Crown Prince in their eyes was never a soft-hearted person.

Facing the enemy, Su Jie would always kill without giving the enemy any chance.

If Su Jie hadn’t been completely concerned about the incident after the restoration of State Yanling, Xiao ShengNian’s being injured had aroused the fierceness in Su Jie.

“Lan Buhui, even if I have to dig the ground three feet deep, I will find you!”
