You're My Only Star

Song Xing Xing glanced at the clock and scrambled to tidy up her things when she saw that it was time for them to clock off.

Her friend, Liu Yu Sheng saw her movement and laughed. "Xing Xing, what are you doing? Why are you in such a hurry to get home?"

"My mom is waiting downstairs," Song Xing Xing answered without looking up.

"Ah? Why is your mother here?" Her head tilted to one side as a thought came to her mind. "Now that I thought about it, I have never seen your mother before. Xing Xing, didn't you say that your family is in Y City? So, your mother is coming to visit you?"

Song Xing Xing did not know why would her mother came to Capital City at this time. However, she did not think that the reason was as simple as wanting to visit her.

"Alright, go ahead and see your mother. Don't let her wait for too long." Liu Yu Sheng waved her hand when Song Xing Xing walked out the door.

Picking up her pace, Song Xing Xing went downstairs and rushed towards the entrance. She stood beside the guard's house and spotted Song Yi's car parked across the road. Before she could run in their direction, the door was pushed open and her mother came out.

Song Xing Xing saw the bright smile on her mother's face and thought that they only meant trouble.

Taking a deep breath, Song Xing Xing walked over to her mother and looked at her with a helpless gaze. "Mom, why are you here?"

Ye Ling Feng glanced at the building behind her daughter and spoke, "You finally found a job at this place. Of course, I am curious about the place you were working at. What's wrong with mom coming to check on her daughter?"

"I did not say that there was anything wrong but mom, why didn't you tell me that you were coming?" Song Xing Xing said. "We talked two days ago but you did not say anything."

Ye Ling Feng smiled wider. "I wanted to give you a surprise. How about it? Don't you like this surprise?"

The corner of her lips started to twitch. How can she say that she did not like this surprise? She was not looking for death, ah.

"But mom, why do you keep looking at the building?"

"How about giving me a tour inside the studio?" Ye Ling Feng inched closer to her daughter and whispered, "The co-worker that you said you have someone you liked. Come on, show me. Which one is that man? Let me see if he's compatible with my daughter."

She knew it. Her mother came to visit her with another intention.

"Mom, you come at the wrong time. He's not here at this time."

She was not lying. Lu Xun was not at the studio.

"Why not?" Ye Ling Feng narrowed her eyes and asked, "Xing Xing, you are not trying to fool your mother, right?"

"Why would I fool you?" Song Xing Xing leaned on her mother's shoulder and acted coquettishly. "Mom, you're so smart and you know your daughter well. Even if I tried to fool you, you would see through me within seconds."

Ye Ling Feng thought about her daughter's words and thought that her words made sense. The thought that she will have no chance to peek at the person that her daughter had taken to like make her a little disappointed.

She had already promised her husband that she won't be staying away for too long. Tomorrow morning, she will need to take a flight to Y City. Thinking about her clingy husband made her sigh again. He was already old, but could not bear to be apart from her for too long.

Since the person she wanted to look at was not around, Ye Ling Feng lost her interest in visiting the studio.

Song Yi came out of the car at this time and looked at the mother and daughter. "Auntie, Xing Xing, if there's nothing else, we should leave now. My wife had already booked a place for dinner."

The mother and daughter turned around at the same time. Song Xing Xing entered the vehicle and found that Han Yue Xiu was sitting shotgun while Xiao Jun was strapped in his car seat. The moment Xiao Jun saw Song Xing Xing, he began to flap his hands and feet around in excitement. Song Xing Xing sat beside the baby and played with him as Song Yi drove over to the place.

Song Xing Xing looked up when the car stopped and realized that they were going to have dinner at The Orchid Hotel. The food at the place was delicious and Song Xing Xing used to love the pastries at the hotel. Unfortunately, the pastry chef had quit his job last year and their pastry was no longer the same.

Once they alighted the vehicle, Song Xing Xing carried Xiao Jun in her arms and sniffed at the baby's milky scent.

Sensing that someone was walking beside her, Song Xing Xing raised her head and looked at Song Yi. "Cousin Brother."

"Are you tired? Let me hold Xiao Jun."

"It's fine. I haven't played with Xiao Jun for a while."

The two walked towards the restaurant and Song Xing Xing could sense Song Yi's gaze on her. "Cousin Brother, you have something to ask me?"

Song Yi pondered for a while before he spoke, "I heard that you have someone you like in the company."

Hearing those words, Song Xing Xing could guess that her mother has been talking to her cousin about her matter. Although she knew that her mother was only worried about her, it was still uncomfortable to hear her cousin mention her love life.

"Cousin Brother, don't tell my mother this, but last time, during Grandfather's birthday banquet, I have spoken some nonsense to stop my mother from setting me up with someone," Song Xing Xing said. "I don't really have anyone I liked."

"Auntie was just worried that someone might fool you."

"Then she asked you to run a background check on that person?"

Song Yi chuckled. As someone who had been set up by the elders previously, Song Yi understood his cousin's worry. "I will keep this secret for you. If you run into trouble, remember to tell me."

They arrived at the restaurant and the waiter showed them to a private room.
