Zongman I fight weirdness in everyday world
#15 - Section 15
It just felt too incongruous to be associated with the term 'quantum mechanics'.
Yotsuya Miko could guess without thinking that joining such a strangely named club, founded by the notoriously unpopular Yozora, would surely make her a weirdo in the eyes of other students.
However, she didn't care.
Eliminating the threat of evil spirits and the 'door' was the most important thing.
Not because of Yozora's requests; Yozora had never forced her to provide assistance.
This was what Yotsuya Miko had always wanted to do deep down.
It was also what she, with her ability to see spirits, should be doing.
After getting out of the taxi, Yotsuya Miko walked to her front door. She initially reached into her pocket for the key, but hesitated and instead raised her hand to knock.
"Coming!"
A beautiful woman who looked somewhat similar to Yotsuya Miko, but with a more mature air, opened the door, wiping water droplets from her hands.
"Didn't you bring your key today? Why are you knocking...?"
The woman's words were cut short as she noticed Yozora standing next to Yotsuya Miko. She paused for a moment, then asked in confusion.
"And this is...?"
"Hello, my name is Yozora. I'm a classmate of Yotsuya Miko's."
Yozora proactively introduced himself, sizing up the woman's face and flashing a harmless smile.
"You must be Miko's older sister? It's a pleasure to meet you."
Hearing him call her 'older sister,' the woman almost laughed out loud, waving her hand shyly.
"Oh my, oh my, you've got it all wrong. I'm Miko's mother."
"Really?!"
Yozora feigned shock, looking Miko's mother up and down in disbelief.
"Impossible! You look so young, like you're only in your twenties."
"Oh my, Yozora, you're such a smooth talker. Do I really look that young?"
"Yes, yes, you look exactly like Miko's sister."
"Hahaha, don't just stand outside, come on in."
Watching her mother smiling brightly and warmly inviting Yozora in, practically forgetting about her, Yotsuya Miko couldn't help but shake her head in resignation.
Yozora already knew that it was just her and her mother at home, ever since they were in the taxi.
Calling her 'older sister' was clearly just a tactic to ingratiate himself.
However, Yotsuya Miko had to admit that Yozora's trick was remarkably effective on her stay-at-home mother.
She thought that when Yozora wasn't being crazy and abstract, he could be considered a social butterfly, relying on his outstanding appearance, the endearing smile, and his accurate words that hit the weak spot.
After leading the two inside, Miko's mother noticed the long sword in Miko's hand.
"What's that you're holding?"
Before Yotsuya Miko could fabricate an excuse, Yozora interjected to explain.
"I didn't bring a proper gift for my first visit, so I brought this ancient sword that can ward off evil spirits and protect the home. I hope you like it."
"Oh my, oh my."
Miko's mother had a doting smile on her face.
"You shouldn't have, you shouldn't have. It's fine to just come over, you don't need to bring any gifts. You can come over whenever you want, without bringing anything."
"Then I appreciate your kindness."
"Are you both hungry? Food will be ready soon. Why don't you relax in the living room for a while?"
Watching her mother not minding and continuing to return to the kitchen to cook, Yotsuya Miko couldn't help but feel a little surprised.
She was still thinking about how to explain the origin of the long sword.
She didn't expect Yozora to defuse it so casually.
A gift?
Could it be that he had already thought of this?
While Yotsuya Miko was still on the first floor, Yozora was already on the eighteenth.
He's a master of layered schemes.
Just then.
A man wearing glasses, with a few strands of gray hair showing, looking to be in his forties, wearing a light blue turtleneck shirt, slowly walked up to the two of them.
He sized up Yozora standing there, looking very gossipy.
"And this is...your boyfriend? Really?"
"Sigh, you've found a boyfriend so soon after starting high school, you've grown up. My old father's heart aches."
Just as the middle-aged man was muttering to himself with a look of heartbreak, Yozora suddenly stepped forward, extended his right hand, and said with a smile.
"It's a pleasure to meet you."
Chapter 020: Let's Light Some Incense
"The young man is very polite."
Miko's father smiled kindly, reaching out to shake Yozora's hand.
When he saw the slightly surprised look in his daughter's eyes, he paused for a moment, belatedly realizing and exclaiming in shock.
"Wait a minute, you can see me?"
"It's not just me."
Yozora pointed to Yotsuya Miko standing beside him.
"She can see you too."
"Ah?"
Miko's father looked blank, appearing completely normal.
This further confirmed Yozora's suspicion.
Miko's father's spirit was very special, possessing the ability to communicate.
The evidence was:
The other party already knew that he and Miko could "see" him, but didn't show any hostility.
"This, that..."
Miko's father scratched his head, piecing together his words for a long time, before looking at Miko and smiling sheepishly.
"That, is this your boyfriend? Good, good."
Yotsuya Miko sighed helplessly, covering her forehead with her hand: "You're already a ghost, why are you still so oblivious? Honestly."
She had always been able to see her father's spirit, but the reason she hadn't communicated with him was because terrifying evil spirits often appeared in the house.
Now, Miko wasn't worried about that problem.
The house was "clean."
For some reason, a strange association suddenly arose in her mind.
Evil spirits were like mosquitoes, and she was like a person with type AB blood, always attracting mosquitoes to harass her.
And the aura on Yozora's body was like mosquito coils.
It would be nice to keep him at home.
"Alright, you father and daughter can talk."
Seeing that Miko and her father both looked like they wanted to say something but couldn't, Yozora shrugged nonchalantly and went to the living room, leaving the space for the ghost and the girl to talk alone.
After Yozora left.
Miko's father scratched his head, a slightly embarrassed smile on his face.
"That, I'm sorry for eating your pudding."
Yotsuya Miko pursed her lips, tears welling up in her eyes, and shook her head softly.
"No, that's all in the past. You don't need to apologize, I was too willful."
The reason Miko's father turned into a spirit trapped by obsession after his death was simple.
He stole the pudding Yotsuya Miko had put in the refrigerator, and the two had a big fight.
It sounded like a trivial matter.
But before the two could resolve their conflict, Yotsuya Miko's father died of illness.
This small matter was the root of his obsession.
It wasn't just Miko's father.
Yotsuya Miko had always regretted why she had left such a regret.
Now, she finally had a chance to make up for it.
This was the first time in her life that she felt the benefits of having the ability to see spirits.
"Mm."
Miko's father nodded slightly and smiled.
"Since that's the case, then I should be on my way."
Although there was some reluctance in Yotsuya Miko's eyes, she still nodded obediently.
Spirits shouldn't linger in the world.
Now that the obsession that kept her father here had been resolved, it was time for him to be reborn.
However, unexpectedly.
Even after more than ten seconds had passed, Miko's father still hadn't disappeared, and there was no sign of his body gradually fading. He just stood there properly.
"This...?"
Yotsuya Miko looked puzzled, unable to understand why.
Logically speaking, after the obsession dissipated, the spirit should be reborn.
Why was her father still here?
"Oh right, I forgot."
Yotsuya Miko's father thought for a while, then suddenly realized.
"I still have an obsession."
"Still have one?"
"Yes."
Miko's father's smile disappeared, his face becoming serious, and he slowly opened his mouth.
"I want to talk to that Yozora."
"Talk?"
Yotsuya Miko was shocked and quickly waved her hand to explain.
"That... you've misunderstood, he's not my boyfriend."
"Even if he's not your boyfriend, he's still the first boy you've ever brought home, I should at least have a few words with him."
Saying this, Miko's father paused for a moment, then sighed deeply.
"Besides, you and he both possess abilities that ordinary people don't have."
Hearing these words, a hesitant look appeared on Yotsuya Miko's face, and she finally bit her lower lip and nodded.
