Chapter 39:"I'M SORRY"

On her way home, Amy was so confused about the turnout of events.

Whatever she assumed before was all wrong.

She assumed that Edmond's fondness of her was because he liked her. She assumed that Edmond's sudden coldness was because he had Val and he got tire of her.

All her assumptions were all wrong and she hated herself for it.

She could have been more sensitive but because she has been always by herself, she is not very caring for others. She hated herself for being like this. She could have done better. She remembered when Edmond was behind the tree and asked her to stay but never spoke. He must be in pain at that moment and longing a shoulder to lean on.

"I'm sorry!"

"I'm sorry I was not a friend you thought I was!"

"I'm sorry I was not sensitive enough to understand what you are going through!"

And she ended by saying: "and I am sorry that I misunderstood you."

**********

The guilt feeling tormented Amy for days and weeks. She searched for ways to reach out to Edmond in any form but it was impossible. He had cut ties with all his social media accounts even emails. It's like he deliberately wanted to disassociate himself from everyone and Amy understood.

With a final resolve, she left a message in his email not hoping for a response, but at least to get the message across. It reads: "Time and distance is the most reliable painkiller for what you are feeling right now. One day you will wake up and all the pain is gone and things have become the new normal. Hang in there!
