Chapter 1690 Spey Engine

Chapter 1690 Spey Engine

In addition, among the Soviet material experts introduced this time, several of them also attracted the attention of the Poly Group, because these experts had participated in the research and development of Soviet aviation equipment before. Although they were not core members, they were still very valuable.

In later generations, whether it was the articles published by military magazines or the analysis of various experts, they finally came to a very typical conclusion, that is, the reason why China's aero-engines are not good is because the materials in China are not good, and there are even well-known experts who once It is said that "China's engine drawings are all drawn, but because of the material, it cannot be manufactured at all."

In fact, this kind of conclusion is not comprehensive and objective, but it can also show that the current material technology problem in China has always been a weakness. Although it is not the fundamental problem restricting China's aero-engines, it is also a very important problem.

After the founding of New China, the Chinese started from scratch on aero engines and successfully developed the turbojet 5 series engines, which were at the international advanced level at that time, through hard work. It ended the history that China could not manufacture turbojet engines, and developed through improvement and modification. Into a series of engines, overseas Taiwan engines produced, equipped with the People's Air Force.

In the mid-60s, China developed the turbojet-6 engine. Through continuous improvement, it was close to the level of the second-generation aircraft. Until the 80s, this series of engines has been the main aircraft of my country's air force and sea and air forces. and major equipment systems.

The turbojet 7 series engine is an axial-flow dual-rotor turbojet engine with afterburner, which was the power plant of the main service aircraft of the Chinese Air Force in the 90s and [-]s.

Based on the turbojet 7 engine, the turbojet 7 series engine has been formed after years of application and development. This engine is equipped with the J-7 and J-8 series aircraft. The turbojet 7 engine is an imitation of the Soviet-made P11-300 engine. Trial production at Factory 410, production at Factory 410 and Factory 460, production preparations began in 1962, implementation was fully implemented in 1965, and production was finalized on June 1967, 6.

However, in the early 70s, due to the country's special period, almost all military research and development work was at a standstill, which also caused China's engines to enter a rather long period of suspension.

In desperation, in the early 70s, China began to consider the introduction of Spey engines, which were planned to be used as engines for the J-6 successor.

The Spey engine is a turbofan engine developed by Rolls-Royce in the 60s. The turbofan engine has high thrust, low fuel consumption, good maintainability, and long service life. It is obviously better than the turbojet engine used in China. In 1970, the Chinese Air Force purchased a batch of Trident aircraft. This model used the Spey mk511-5 engine. Later, the military-type mk4 turbofan engine was developed four times, which was used in the F202 Phantom fighter jet. The United States also felt that the thinking was good. The right to manufacture this type of engine was introduced.

In July 1973, the UK agreed to sell the military version of the Spey engine. In December 7, China and the UK signed a contract to introduce the Spey military aero engine. It is going to be divided into two steps, and it will take three years to learn how to use imported parts to assemble a qualified Spey engine, and it will take five years to realize localization.

However, the 70s was a special era. The factors of the times determined the tragic fate of Spey. The attitude of high-level officials towards the Spey engine was partially supported and partially opposed. In addition, turbofan 6 engines were also being developed in China. Shenyang Engine Design Institute believes that Spey influenced the turbofan 6 engine.

Until 1979, four equipment engines were installed in Xi’an Aeronautics Engine Room in two batches. In November of the same year, a 4-hour long-term test run assessment was completed. In 11, a high-altitude simulation car was completed in the UK. The cyclic fatigue strength test of 150 major components meets the technical requirements.

Although China already has the ability to assemble Spey engines, the localization of Spey has not moved to the next step.

In the early 80s, the reform and opening up just started, the national economy was adjusted, and a large number of military scientific research projects were suspended. The Spey engine project was also suspended. Strangely, the turbofan 6 engine was also discontinued.

In a sense, the domestically produced turbofan 6 and the imported Spey engine have lost both sides. On the one hand, it is because of the dispute between the two concepts of independent research and development and imported imitation, and at the same time, it is also mixed with the interests of the competent authorities.

From the early 70s to the end of the 80s, China's aviation development research and development has been in a state of stagnation. On the one hand, it is difficult to continue due to lack of people and money. On the other hand, it is technical reasons. China's materials and parts production and processing capabilities I can't keep up.

At that time, the Rolls-Royce company that produced the Spey engine had very high technology. The aero-engine technology they produced was extremely complex and advanced, and even the United States was slightly ahead of it for a long time.

The engine blades produced by Rolls-Royce, the thin blades can have a very complex internal structure, which is not achievable by ordinary companies. Even in later generations, when companies such as GE and PW in the United States produce compressor blades, It can't be so complicated and precise.

Therefore, it is difficult for China to realize the complete localization of Spey engines, and there are many technical bottlenecks that are difficult to break through.

Compared with the engines of Rolls-Royce, the engines of the former Soviet Union are too clever and unfair. Although the processing technology of parts is not low, it is far worse than that of Rolls-Royce, so it is more suitable for China.

It is precisely because of this that these material experts who participated in the research and development of aviation equipment in the Soviet Union have attracted the attention of relevant national departments, and through the Poly Group, when Duan Yun went to BJ last time, he asked for the information of relevant Soviet experts.

However, this does not mean that the country will "rob" these Soviet experts from Tianyin Group, because this is not a wise approach in itself.

On the one hand, the working environment and salary within the system may not be able to satisfy the appetite of these Soviet experts, and even if it is a central enterprise like Poly Group, its salary level cannot be compared with that of Tianyin Group. It is difficult for enterprises within the system to achieve a salary several times or even ten times higher than that of ordinary employees, but private enterprises can do it.

Another point is that the working environment within the system is also difficult to mobilize the enthusiasm of these foreign experts, and Tianyin Group can use a higher and more reasonable reward system to encourage the enthusiasm of employees. The advantages of private enterprises in this regard have become many National consensus.

Therefore, if the country wants to obtain these technologies and talents, the best way is to cooperate with Tianyin Group to jointly set up research and development projects. of the...
