Chapter 114 The nickname is more famous than the real name, what should I do?
Come early!
The tomb of Marquis Zeng has not yet been dug in the Yejiashan cemetery!
The Jingzhou Institute of Archaeology was not as lucky as the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Social Sciences. Tomb M1, which was just dug at the beginning, was the tomb of a Marquis of Zeng.

They dug three tombs in succession, one for a doctor or Qing of Zeng Guo, one for Mrs. Zeng Hou, and one for Mrs. Zeng Hou or Mrs. Zeng Hou.
But it's not all fruitless.

At least I know that the Yejiashan cemetery is indeed the cemetery of Zeng Guo nobles.

And it is from the early Western Zhou Dynasty, at least as far back as King Cheng or King Kang.

King Cheng was the second monarch of the Zhou Dynasty and the grandson of King Wen.

It is indeed early enough.

You know, after King Wu conquered business, he was only the emperor for two years, and then he passed away.

The period of becoming a king was actually the time when the Western Zhou Dynasty just founded the country.

Even in the period of King Kang, it was only 24 years after the Zhou Dynasty officially became the co-lord of the world.

The tombs of Zeng Guo nobles from the Chengkang period can be found in the Yejiashan cemetery, which shows that the chimes found by Chen Han and the others in Wenfeng Pagoda are basically in line with the facts.

Zeng Guo was indeed one of the earliest vassal states surnamed Ji in the Zhou Dynasty.

And here in the Yejiashan cemetery, there is a high probability that the first generation of princes was buried.

This first-generation prince may not be Nangong Shi, because Nangong Shi may not have been granted the title.

According to the inscription on the chime bell, King Wu sealed Suizhou to Nan Gong.

But during Cheng Wang's period, Nan Gongshi was still assisting Cheng Wang in the central government.

"Guoyu·Jinyu" records: "After King Cheng succeeded to the throne, he inquired in 'Eight Yu', and consulted in 'Erguo', spent time in Hongyao and sought advice in Nangong."

Obviously, Nangong's adaptation should be the same as Duke Zhou and Duke Zhao.

Although he had a fief, he still stayed in the court, and only sent his eldest son to the fief.

It is even very possible that Nangong Shi was the first to start this remote fiefdom, and later Duke Zhou and Duke Zhao followed suit.

The word "Nangong" can also be used as evidence.

Since the bells of Zeng Guo in the late Spring and Autumn Period all call Nangong Shi "Nangong", which means that Nangongshi died as "Nangong".

For Ji Zhou, the "some" in "someone" has a special meaning, and it's not just barking.

The reason why Duke Zhou is called Duke Zhou is because his fief was in Zhou at the beginning, so he was called Duke Zhou.

Similarly, the fief of Zhaogong is in Zhao, so it has always been called Zhaogong.

As for Zhou and Zhao, both of these two important ministers at the beginning of the Zhou Dynasty were fiefs before King Wu conquered Shang.

After Ji Zhou officially became the co-lord of the princes of the world, King Cheng conferred the title of Duke Zhou to Qufu, established the State of Lu, and appointed Duke Zhao to Ji, and established the State of Yan.

But neither of them sealed it, but sent their son to seal it.

So they are still called by the original fief, not "Lu Gong" and "Yan Gong".

Then, Nangongshi may have a fief called "South" in Zhou Guoling before the Western Zhou Dynasty was officially established.

And later, Zeng Guo was not granted.

That's why it has always been called "Nan Gong"!
Even Zeng Hou in the Spring and Autumn Period still called his ancestors that way.

Of course, there is another possibility.

That is, Nan Gongshi may be the same as Jiang Taigong. The "Nan" in his "Nangong" refers to a certain official position he has held in the central government for a long time.

After Jiang Taigong was entrusted with the state of Qi, he spent most of his time in Haojing as the "grand teacher" of the central government of the Zhou Dynasty.

Later, he also died in Haojing, the capital of Zhou Dynasty.

Therefore, when he is seen in history books or inscriptions of the two-week period, he is always called "Taigong".

And because he actually participated in the construction of Qi State and personally governed Qi State for a period of time, it is not because he did not manage Qi State at all.

So occasionally the words "Qi Taigong" can be seen in the inscriptions.

However, Nangongshi saw that there was only "Nangong" in the inscription, not "Zeng Nangong", so Chen Han thought that Nangongshi might not have been granted the title.

The first generation of Marquis Zeng, most likely the son of Nangong Shi!

Perhaps, history should be like this.

King Wu entrusted Nangong Shi to Sui, so Nangong Shi sent his son to Sui and established Zeng Guo.

This is the same as Zhou Gong's son went to Qufu to establish Lu State, and Zhao Gong's son went to Jidi to establish Yan State.

It's just that Zeng Guo didn't expand rapidly like those big countries, and it couldn't be summed up by one or two place names.

Unlike Ren Guo, Teng Guo, Ju Guo, Ren Guo, Tan Guo, Fei Guo, Pi Guo and other countries in Sishang, in historical records, the name of the fiefdom was directly used to replace the country name.

For example, the state of Fei is called Fei in Feidi, and the state of Ju is called Ju in Ju.

Maybe the capital of Zeng State is anywhere, and the place is not big, so it has been called "Sui" over time.

But Zeng State is different from those small countries in Sishang. Zeng State is a vassal state proclaimed by King Wu, and the king is Zenghou!
Therefore, the official country name "Zeng" must be engraved on the inscription of the bronze ware!
And the unofficial name of "Sui" is just the usual name of Zeng Guo by other countries.

Perhaps Zeng Guoren himself is used to this "nickname", but the "nickname" must not be engraved on the official bronze inscription.

It's like, you can't just fill in your name as a fat girl during the college entrance examination just because you are called a fat girl by your classmates!

If there is Zhihu in the Eastern and Western Zhou period.

Perhaps Marquis Zeng would ask on Zhihu: "It's very troublesome! The nickname is more famous than the real name, what should I do?"

However, this is just Chen Han's guess.

Whether this is the case or not depends on whether the tombs of Zeng's early monarchs on Yejiashan can provide evidence.

After Professor Mu found out that the tomb of Marquis Zeng had not yet been dug, Chen Han bid farewell to Professor Mu in frustration, and pulled Luo Zhenghao to leave.

"Lao Luo, if you find the tomb of Marquis Zeng and there is an inscription with important information, remember to notify me as soon as possible!"

"According to my speculation, the first generation of Empress Zeng should be an outsider who conquered the local forces everywhere. Only then did he establish the Zeng Kingdom with the surname Ji."

"There is a high probability that in the tomb of the first or second generation of Marquis Zeng, there will be bronze vessels recording this major event involving the establishment of the Zeng Kingdom!"

"If you can find any word "Sui" on the bronze ware, then it is a certainty that it has been said that the two countries have united with one."

Before leaving, Chen Han repeatedly told Luo Zhenghao.

Although the chime bells unearthed from Tomb M1 of Wenfeng Pagoda, the content recorded in the inscriptions can almost prove that Zeng Sui was a country.

However, from the beginning to the end, "Sui" was not mentioned in the inscription, and there is no direct evidence to prove that the place where Zeng Guo is located is Sui Di.

So what if when the battle between Wu and Chu happened, Zeng Guo and Sui Guo actually stood side by side, but the official historian's record was wrong?

Archeology is not to prove that the records in historical books are correct.

History books also record the possibility of errors, and this kind of thing has happened many times.

Therefore, for the sake of rigor, it is best to find direct evidence of Zeng Shisui.

Otherwise, don’t jump to the conclusion that Zeng Sui was a country, only to find Sui country ruins or noble tombs a few years later.

that would be embarrassing
"Okay, don't worry, I will notify you as soon as I find out!"

Luo Zhenghao smiled and sent Chen Han back to the entrance of the village. After repeated assurances, Chen Han drove away satisfied.

"Hey, I'm still too impatient. It's only been half a month. How could a major discovery be made so quickly?"

On the way back, Chen Han kept sighing, as expected, he couldn't eat hot tofu in a hurry!

"Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-baby-calabash-baby!"

"Dick tick, click, click, click, click, click!"

A burst of phone ringing rang in the closed compartment.

Chen Han connected to the Bluetooth call in the car without any hassle.

"Hello, who is it?"

On the other end of the phone, Kong Jianwen's irritable voice came.

"Xiao Chen! Hurry back to the construction site!"

"Another chime bell with more inscriptions was unearthed from Tomb M1!"

"Also, the curator of Jingzhou Museum called me just now."

"The excavation results of Tomb No. 168 in Fenghuang Mountain will be announced and exhibited, and "Mr. Sui" will also be made public!"

"He wants to ask you to help announce and introduce Mr. Sui to the public!"

"Now you are quite famous on the Internet."

"I didn't even notice that your financial media claims are doing pretty well! There are more than 200 million fans on the whole network!"
