Rebirth of Wu Ba Spring and Autumn

Chapter 493 Human nature is inherently good

Chapter 493 Human nature is inherently good

On the debate square of Jixia Academy, more than a thousand scholars gathered together, sitting on futons, eagerly looking forward to seeing Wu Wang Qingji's demeanor.

Of course, if possible, they must take advantage of this opportunity to show off.

Get Qingji's attention by gaining people's attention.

Among the more than a thousand scholars, there are many who come to watch the excitement.

Compared with the School of Engineering, School of Medicine, and School of Business, the School of Political Science is the most promising and has the most students, accounting for more than half of Jixia Academy.

As far as Qingji knew, the number of scholars in Jixia Academy remained at [-] to [-] all year round.

However, almost all the scholars will choose the School of Political Science, thinking that they will enter the court in the future and become a prime minister.

Of course, the academics of the scholars are quite complicated, and some of them may choose the School of Political Science, and at the same time, they may also take into account the School of Engineering and the School of Military Affairs.

The most popular college is the School of Political Science, followed by the School of Military Affairs.

It's just that scholars have the right to take elective courses. As long as you have the talent in that area and get the approval of your husband, it's not impossible to learn all of them once.

A real genius can study hard in Jixia Academy for ten or eight years in Hanchuang, and Qingji will give him funding.

After all, there are too few such scholars, who can be called national treasures, so Qingji will naturally value them.

"Human nature is good? Human nature is evil?"

After seeing this topic raised by Qingji, the scholars present couldn't help whispering to each other.

"There are good people and evil people in the world, but the nature of this person should be good, not evil."

"Is there no one who can be sure of his good and evil right from birth?"

"Exactly!"

"Your Majesty's topic is too biased. How can human nature be evil?"

The scholars couldn't help shaking their heads.

I feel quite helpless about the issue raised by Qingji.

In their view, human nature should be "good", not "evil".

Since it cannot be established, how can there be a debate?
No contradiction, no conflict, how to debate?

At this time, even the scholars who wanted to show off in front of Qingji, who were unconventional, could not help but retreat.

In the center of the square, there is a square platform, the "debate platform".

Every scholar, or everyone is qualified to stand on the debate stage and have a debate.

Qingji is on the Sifangtai.

Qingji looked around, saw Confucius, Laozi, Fan Li, Jizha, Sun Ping, Yan Ying, Ji Ran and others sitting upright on the left and right, and smiled slightly.

"Everyone, do you think that human nature is good or evil?"

"Nature is good!"

Confucius stroked his beard and said with a smile: "Your Majesty, please forgive me for speaking bluntly. This issue raised by Your Majesty should not be established."

"is it?"

Qingji was noncommittal, and turned his attention to Lao Tzu.

"Lao Tzu, do you think that human nature can be divided into good and evil?"

Hearing this, Laozi thought for a while, then bowed to Qingji and said, "My lord, I think that in the beginning of human beings, there is no distinction between good and evil."

"Everything in the world has an essence."

"If birds and beasts want to survive, wolves kill sheep and hawks eat chickens, are wolves and hawks evil?"

"If you judge it with common sense, it is good to benefit others, and evil to benefit yourself. If it is beneficial to others, it is good to beat others."

"If it is beneficial to oneself, respecting others is evil."

"In this way, it would be biased."

The meaning of Lao Tzu’s last sentence is roughly: as long as it is beneficial to others, even beating and scolding him is good; as long as it is beneficial to oneself, even being respectful and polite to others is evil.

Lao Tzu disagrees with this.

As for Lao Tzu's views, Qingji still deeply agrees.

After all, the boundaries between good and evil are sometimes blurred.

Lao Tzu said again slowly: "The "Book of Changes" says: A family with good deeds must have celebrations, and a family with bad deeds must have disasters."

"There are half and full of kindness in virtue."

"There is nothing to worry about, a pure heart, good deeds without attachment, nothing to give, no one to help outside, no one to do good inside, even if you donate a penny, it is full of kindness."

"If you have the heart to do good, but only care about gains and losses, and hesitate to do good, then even if you donate ten thousand taels of gold, you can only stop at half good."

After a pause, Lao Tzu said meaningfully: "At the same time, there is a difference between good and good."

"What is good is right, and what is good is evil."

"Doing bad things with good intentions, this is 'the side of the middle'."

"Doing good deeds with bad intentions is called 'the righteousness of the middle'."

"Goodness has its end, and there is a difference between it and melody."

"It comes from the heart of helping the world and benefiting people, and the kindness that does not ask for anything in return is 'true'."

"A person with a heart to please the world, a heart of cynicism, and a heart of cynicism is a 'qu'..."

Laozi expounded his views on "goodness", which is very reasonable.

As for "evil", I am noncommittal.

He does not believe that at the beginning of human beings, there are good and evil in nature.

Confucius had a different opinion on this.

Fortunately, Lao Tzu does not intend to debate with Confucius on the issue of "human nature is good and human nature is evil".

Otherwise, it will just be endless.

To use a figurative discourse as a metaphor, it is——

Zi Feiyu, know the joy of fish?
Everyone's point of view is different, and ideas are naturally different.

Confucius followed suit and stepped onto the debate stage in the square, sitting upright.

This time he took the initiative to ask for a job, and he wanted to explain to the scholars his point of view that "human nature is inherently good".

If there are opponents, Confucius is also confident that he can defeat the opponent and remain invincible.

"At the beginning of human beings, nature is good."

Kong Qiu looked around, looked at the scholars present, and talked eloquently: "In the past, Yin Sun Shu'ao, the magistrate of the State of Chu, was traveling when he was young. When he saw a two-headed snake, he killed it and buried it."

"Why? His mother asked, and Sun Shu'ao said to him, "Whoever hears and sees a snake with two heads dies. If I see it, I am afraid that I will die if I lose my mother."

"Those who have yin and virtue will be rewarded with blessings, so the people of the country believe in his benevolence even though Sun Shuao was not governed."

After a pause, Confucius said again: "Nowadays, when people see a child about to enter the river and be in danger of drowning, they all feel fear and compassion."

"That's why it is said that everyone has a heart that cannot bear others."

"It is not human to be without compassion. Compassion is the essence of benevolence!"

"it is good!"

"color!"

"Master's high opinion!"

All the scholars present couldn't help applauding.

According to Confucius, when the world sees a child who is about to fall into the river and drown, how can there be no compassion?
How could he not come to the rescue?

Sun Shu'ao was still a young man, he killed two snakes and was able to bury their bodies.

Because it is rumored that anyone who sees the two-headed snake will die, so Sun Shuao cried, not because he was afraid of death, but because he couldn't bear to let his mother send a white-haired person to a black-haired person...

Confucius can be said to be citing scriptures, no wonder he can get the approval of a group of scholars.

Seeing that everyone agrees, Kong Qiu said with emotion: "What's the point of today's turmoil and controversy?"

"If you don't know Zhou etiquette, you can't practice benevolent government. Taking killing and fighting as pleasure is the key!"

"..."

Qingji was a little dumbfounded.

Confucian lectures here are more or less carrying "private goods".

But, at this moment, a different voice sounded!

"I don't agree with what Master said! I secretly think that human nature is evil!"
