Chapter 26 Vigrich II
Chapter 26 Vigrich II
Vigrich Apollyon stood before the castle of Smorg in the Hall of Ashes, which sat on the hills west of the city along with the walls of the Hall of Ashes, the first time he had seen the castle with his own eyes.
I have to say he was a little disappointed - Smugberg doesn't look as imposing as Ernorburg, probably because it was built by the Vivarians, who don't have the same building talent as the Hastza.
The castle was octagonal, each corner joined by square towers, and the gray curtain walls and towers had crenels and arrow slots for the archers.
The castle is surrounded by a moat, and to the north is the Chiliu River leading to Luxi Sea, the river of life in the Kingdom of Vivalia. On the city wall fluttered the banner of the blue dragon, the crest of the Korva family.
This is where his wife Diya lived as a child.
Dia often talked to Vigrich about how she watched his brothers and sisters frolic in the cobblestone courtyard of the castle, and the modest temple.
Whenever she talked about these things, she always showed a fascinated smile inadvertently. That was her rare expression, and it was a different kind of happiness when she was with him.
The king's residence was an expression of his authority and wealth, and that of the kingdom as a whole. As the fortress of the lord of a country, it does not have the castle style of a border duke, which undoubtedly gives more confidence to the arrogant nobles.
"His Majesty the Emperor of the Hastza people!" A short man came out from behind the gate of the city wall.A dozen attendants followed behind him.
The short man appeared to be about 50 years old, wearing a dark blue tight jacket and black high boots. His head barely reached Wigrich's shoulders, and he had long light brown hair tied up, kindly blue eyes and a mild beard of light blond.
"Welcome to Smorgburg Castle," said the short man. "My name is Sigmund Miriam, Her Majesty's Lord Seal, and Steward of the Castle."
"Sigmund? King Izdor often mentioned you to me in his letters." Vigrich raised his eyebrows slightly, "He always said that you are an excellent and loyal servant. This is true in Vivalia. Kingdom is an extremely rare and precious quality."
Sigmund's eyes lit up, his brows slightly opened, and he put his right hand on his chest, "He was a respectable king during his lifetime."
"Yes," Vigrich affirmed, "he knows what it takes to rule a kingdom."
Izdor Korva was a wise king in his reign.
As the monarch of Vivaria, he can deal with the dignitaries of the major families to ensure that his royal power is not violated.
This is much more difficult than it seems. Without his mature political skills and diplomatic operations, the kingdom's power will only continue to be delegated to the nobles.
The marriage between Diya and Wigrich 18 years ago was also facilitated because Izdor had the same ideas as himself. In many ways, Wigrich feels that he is very similar to himself.
"Master Sigmund, you said that you are both the Lord Seal of the kingdom and the steward of this castle. The responsibilities of the two are completely different." Mundy said.
"I've never heard of one man holding both positions." Monty was wearing his favorite black silk tunic and black high boots, with a crimson cloak pinned to his chest over his left shoulder.
"Yes, Your Highness..." Sigmund said with a little embarrassment, "The cabinet titles of the Kingdom of Vivalia have almost become empty positions. Apart from providing political advice to the king or queen and presiding over every Outside of the half-yearly Kingdom Council, there is no real power. My daily duties are more of a steward."
"Sigmund!" Dia greeted him with a smile. The pale golden silk robe looked even more beautiful and dazzling on her body.
"Ah, Princess Palace... No, Your Royal Highness!" Sigmund's face showed complete joy. "You have grown up, and you look just like your mother when she was young. Her Majesty will be delighted to see you. Please, my lords, Her Majesty is waiting in the castle."
The crowd passed through the drawbridge and the gate, and the attendants and guards set up the horses and saluted, and Wigrich and his wife and children came to the cobblestone courtyard in the center of the castle.
The inside of the city wall is painted light blue.In the courtyard, well-tended gardens spread out on both sides of the fountain, and the water flows into three milky-white circular pools.Poppies and carnations blooming in the sun are bright red, exuding a light floral and sweet scent.
"It's like a different place than before," Dia said. "It's so beautiful now."
"Are you satisfied with the garden I have transformed?" A pleasant and graceful voice came from the depths of the courtyard.
The woman wears a light blue tunic silk gown with silver embroidery and pearls. She wore a dark blue crystal necklace on her elegant and smooth neck, and her long, silky golden hair hung behind her.
The woman has the same blue eyes as Dia, sparkling and charming. Her fair face is slightly flushed, her eyebrows are thin and her eyelashes are long, her mouth is small and her nose is straight.
Vivaria's Queen of Vases is really as beautiful as the rumors say.
"Lozaria!" Dia's eyes were full of surprise.
The two sisters walked towards each other and hugged each other tightly.
"Look at you," Dia said with a smile while holding the Queen's face, "You've grown into a big girl, and you're still a Queen."
Lozaria smiled and held Dia's arm, "I miss you very much too, sister, it's great to see you again."
The Queen turned and bowed slightly to Vigrich, "His Majesty the Emperor Vigrich."
"Her Majesty Queen Lozaria." Vigrich nodded in response. "Allow me to introduce my sons, Chuck, Monty and Alan."
"Your Majesty the Queen." The sons all bowed their heads in salute.
"Your children look excellent, Your Majesty." Lozaria said, "Apollyon's blood is really strong."
"Apollyon's blood runs through you and me, Your Majesty," Vigrich said.
When "The Great" Igmer I unified the Great Plains and established the Hastza Empire, he exiled the local Vivalia tribal chiefs to the north.
They passed through the mildew forest and climbed the Dragon's Neck Mountain to find a new land and settle there.
They established a new kingdom headed by the Korva family, the Drax Kingdom. But after ruling for more than 200 years, he was deposed as a tyrant and exiled. The people there established a republic without a king.
The exiled Korva family has returned to Vivalia during the "17 Years' War" of the Hastza Empire.
Forcade Apollion, who was in charge of guarding the north, fell in love with the beautiful young Corva princess Irena, and took in the exiled nobles.
The descendants of the two of them became the rulers of the Kingdom of Vivaria, which later declared independence from the Empire.
