This book is finally finished.

At 310 million words, it is the longest book I have ever written.

I originally planned to write more than 500 million words, but I just couldn't continue writing.

The results are very average, with an average subscription of more than a thousand. The income from royalties is enough to make ends meet, but not too comfortable.

When I first started writing, I was actually quite passionate.

The place where the protagonist in the book first started working and that era hold many of my memories. What I wanted to write about at the beginning was that kind of living condition.

The focus at that time was on daily life, writing ordinary stories of ordinary people and the daily life in the market.

However, after the book was put on the shelves, the subscription rate has not increased, and the daily update of ten thousand words has not increased. Then, some people in the comment section have been saying that the pace is too slow, and they said they would abandon the book if the protagonist continued to work as a security guard. It is inevitable that there is some anxiety, and the positioning of this book has also been shaken.

After all, the purpose of writing a novel is to attract more readers.

Of course, it would be best if I could get more royalties.

At that time, the average subscription was about 500 to 600, and the follow-up subscription was less than 300.

So later on, the theme of the story changed.

The average subscription increased, but some readers were lost as well.

What’s more serious is that my own passion for writing has slowly faded away.

If you change the topic and write about things you are not good at or don’t like, it will become more and more like a writing tool.

In this case, writing itself can no longer bring the author the joy of creation, but more of a torment:

——What should I write today?

——How can I write so that readers will like it?

——Or let’s do some Shasha.

——But if you do that, the book will be banned!

I feel very conflicted every day, and gradually become alienated from the characters in the book. Those people who were once very vivid in my mind have gradually faded and turned into symbols.

At this point, the novel has collapsed. The readers are bored, and the author is also bored.

The subsequent content only explains the original settings, and there is a perfunctory feeling in it.

If I were given another chance to choose, I would not choose to forcibly change the rhythm after more than a hundred chapters.

Maybe it will be even more of a flop, but at least I’m writing what I want to write and I can gain the joy of creation.

Unlike now, both places are vast and have no destination.

While writing this book, I opened another account and wrote "Rebirth and Exciting Life", which was a book with even worse performance, but it made me feel happy.

I had originally planned to start a new book when this one was finished, but half a month before the end of the book, I changed my mind and decided that I should take a break for half a year before considering a new book.

Two reasons.

The first one was that at that time, an author friend of mine had some health problems and had been on intravenous drip for half a month, and his blood pressure was 41 yuan per day. As a result, he had a high fever of degrees that day and fell into a coma.

It scared me because I have a lot of health problems (I quit my job and started writing novels because of health reasons), and I was afraid that one day I would be like that.

I have been writing novels for almost eight years, and the total number of words written under several pseudonyms is 19 to million. In , only million words were blocked.

I have opened two books at a time and three books at a time, and they were basically seamlessly connected. Before one book was finished, another one would begin.

Now I want to take a break and recuperate.

Another reason is that you should empty your mind and think carefully about what you can write, what you want to write, and what you need most.

Once you figure it out, keep writing.

If you can't figure it out, just keep thinking until you figure it out.

After reading this book, I don’t know when we will meet again, or even if there will be another chance to meet again.

Here, I would like to express my gratitude to Qidian for allowing us to meet, and thank you for your support.

Hopefully, we’ll see you later!
