Chapter 2 Chapter 2. Formal work

Chapter 2 2. Formal work
A new day has come.

What awakened Annan was no longer the damp and cold hut, but the bright sunshine on the bed.

Getting out of the old and warm thin quilt, the coolness of the morning made Annan shake off his drowsiness.

The young man on the bed next to him has been sleeping soundly since he came back last night. The sun shining through the window was drying half of his buttocks. He would only move a little when it was scorching hot, and it was not long before he was exposed to the rising sun again.

He spent the next few minutes dodging the sun's pursuit in his sleep, until he fell off the edge of the bed with a muffled sound.

The young man took it for granted that he got up like an alarm clock, which set off the surprised Annan to make a fuss.

He looked at Annan who had woken up, said something briefly, then patted his chest because there was no response, and repeated the word: "Martin."

Guessing that he was saying his name, Annan pointed to himself and said, "Annan."

"Anna?" Martin muttered. "Sounds like a girl's name."

Can only understand Annan in front of him and correct his pronunciation: "It's Annan."

"Sianna?"

It took dozens of seconds for Martin to know his name and pronounce it correctly. Annan followed Martin, who was dressed, out of the bedroom.

When they came to the yard, Aunt Susan had just hung the washed pajamas on the clothesline, and she was stroking the fluff of the pajamas while talking about something. Annan guessed that she was admiring the craftsmanship.

Martin, who found pleasure in teaching Annan to speak, pointed to the woman: "This is Aunt Susan."

"This is Aunt Susan."

Annan greeted the woman who looked over in surprise, and then he was embraced by that broad chest and corrected his address.

Aunt Susan gently told Annan that he could live here forever.Annan couldn't understand, but he could feel the kindness in the words.

For the next few days, Annan, unable to do anything, stayed at Aunt Susan's house, learning the language of the world, and helping Aunt Susan's family do what he could.

Aunt Susan is in charge of the family's finances and all housework, and Uncle Hollin is a woodcutter, who goes to the woods before sunrise and returns in the afternoon. And Martin had to chop the previous firewood into firewood and sell it in the morning, then go to work in the tavern in the evening, and return late at night.

Learning a language requires frequent interaction, so Aunt Susan's family was the perfect fit.

Martin was underage, but looked like a young man in his 20s.Healthy, strong, inherited the excellent bloodline of Aunt Susan, but not very smart... It seems that the creator made people too strong, so they withheld some wisdom.

Uncle Huo Lin is not as quiet and introverted as he looks, and his relationship with Aunt Susan is far better than expected. His body shape did not stop them from giving birth to Martin, the crystallization of love.

Aunt Susan liked Annan, and this love even made her treat Annan better than Martin.Even worrying that Annan would be robbed, he said, "The bad guy likes a beautiful boy like you the most" and asked him to smear the ash that made the skin look rough and dull.

Survival is the best teacher.

It has been a week since Annan came to this family, but he can already communicate briefly. On this day, Annan and Martin were chopping firewood one by one in front of the woodshed. However, the handle of the thick ax in the past two days had scratched his palm, and his speed of chopping wood was very slow. When Aunt Susan came to check, only a small half of the split firewood had been piled up.

"It's okay, honey, you need to rest more..." Aunt Susan blew on Annan's palm with distress, and turned around to scold Martin, "You fucking stupid ass! It's been so long and you haven't done it yet!"

"Why only say I..."

"Annan has no experience, but you have been hacking for almost ten years!"

Fortunately, there were some old firewood. Annan accompanied Martin to bring the split firewood to the market for sale.

"Sometimes I think you are Aunt Susan's child." Martin muttered depressed.

"Why are you also called Aunt Susan?"

"She thinks I'm too stupid to be her son."

"Where's Uncle Holling?"

"He doesn't want people to think that Aunt Susan is not his wife."

A touching unwavering love, but a sad one for Martin.

"Are you laughing?" Martin, who was carrying firewood in front, turned his head.

Annan hid his smile in time: "No, I don't understand."

When he came to the market, Martin stood on the street selling firewood, while Annan's attention fell on the noisy and lively market, enjoying the customs of the world.

A regular customer bought firewood, and about 50 pounds of chopped oak core wood sold for 20 copper coins. On the way back, Annan and Martin said, "I want to find something to do."

"Then you can work as a waiter in the tavern with me."

Annan figured out what Martin was saying, and when she went back to tell Aunt Susan, she was a little worried that Annan would not understand.

"As long as you can deliver wine and clear the table." Martin patted his chest and promised that he would take care of Annan.

"All right……"

After having one more person in the family, the expenses are indeed a bit tight.

That night, Martin came back with good news: "Mr. Fast asked me to take you there tomorrow morning."

……

On a sunny and comfortable morning, the aroma of wheat wafts from the bakery on the street.

Annan followed Martin to the Dawn Tavern.

Few people in the town like to come to pubs during the day, so few pubs are open during the day.

In the dark tavern, the chairs were buckled on the table, and the smell of wine seeped into every piece of wood in the tavern.

"Mr. Fast, here we come!"

The man called Mr. Fast was a middle-aged man with long messy brown hair. He looked slovenly. He was wearing a pair of boots and had a thin sword on his waist.

He looked at Annan and paused on the black hair and black eyes: "I don't remember anyone with black hair in Pinglin Town."

"He's my second cousin!" cried Martin.

"……Humph."

Fast narrowed his amber eyes slightly, but did not expose Martin's lame lie. "From 6:12 p.m. to [-]:[-] p.m., one silver coin every Monday, the tip from the guests belongs to you, and Evelyn will tell you or ask Martin when you come to work at other nights."

"Why do I only have 70 copper coins?" Martin found that his salary was the least.

"You are so ugly."

Annan successfully passed the interview. To celebrate, Aunt Susan bought some meat and prepared a sumptuous lunch for him.

After a pleasant afternoon full of food, Aunt Susan was worried about Annan's work, so she patiently told her:
"He might make a mistake in the tavern..."

"I'll take care of him."

"If you see him stealing food or getting into arguments with customers ... tell him it's wrong."

"Don't worry, leave it to me."

"That's wonderful! Thank you, Annan."

Annan, who had high hopes, said shyly, "It's too polite of you to say that."

"Oh... I'm still worried..." Aunt Susan sighed, grabbed the broom and walked towards Martin who was still cleaning the dining table. "Martin!"

In the evening, Annan and Martin came to Dawn Tavern.

Enter through the back door of the tavern.Annan fastened his apron in the back kitchen and started his first job in this world.
