Chapter 3 Chapter 3. Dawn Tavern

Chapter 3 3. Dawn Tavern
Annan is the third employee of Dawn Tavern.

Apart from the owners Fast and Martin, Evelyn is the oldest employee in the tavern. According to Martin, Evelyn was here when he came. She is a young girl who is about the same age as Annan, with freckles on her cheeks.Responsible for being at the counter and delivering wine.

Martin is always prone to messing up everything, so he is only responsible for clearing the wine table after the guests leave and stealing leftover food.Annan reminded him not to be protected by Mr. Fast when he did this in front of Mr. Fast.

Newcomer Annan does the same job as Evelyn—only the wine delivery part. But usually he and Martin cleared the table. The guests preferred the only girl in the tavern to Annan.

Occasionally, Mr. Fast would help them share the work when they were busy. Most of the time, he was leaning against the counter like a thug with his rapier over his shoulders.Squinting slightly, he listened to the commotion in the tavern and the old-fashioned stories with the bard.

There are not many customers in the tavern, and the busiest and noisy night time can only be half full at most.

In the final analysis, Pinglin Town is just a remote border town with a population of two to three thousand located on the edge of the forest.Poor people can't drink beer that costs several copper coins, and rich people disdain these places where rude people gather.Only drunks and snooping adventurers sit here for hours.

And a bard.

Annan likes him very much, not only because he can learn vocabulary from his non-stop mouth, but also because of those magnificent and fantasy stories.Although in most cases, he couldn't understand the cadence and complex modifiers.

There are also stories about him with a meaty taste and all kinds of slang and dirty words.

The saying that learning a language often starts with swear words seems like a truth.

"...Then, the warlock 'solved' this sexy female lizard in the woods." Accompanied by the low-pitched laughter of the drinker, Annan learned about polysemy again.

Mr. Fast, the bard, is a warrior with a career level as high as elite, and shouldn't appear in such a small place as Pinglin Town.He also tested his past countless times, but failed.

Annan hadn't seen Mr. Fast make a move yet.A lot of people in town knew from the bard that he was an "elite-level fighter," so no thieves were stupid enough to let him do it.

In fact, Mr. Fast is a very friendly person, not so strict, and sometimes makes some man-to-man jokes. But the effect is mediocre, most of the time I can only get Evelyn's eyes - Annan can't understand, Martin can't understand.

In his spare time, Annan is similar to Mr. Fast, listening to the bard's stories, and rolling his eyes at the guests who have the characteristics of adventurers.

Unfortunately, no elves or wizards visited the tavern, and as for races like orcs or dwarves... even if humans were not so xenophobic, they were unlikely to come to remote Flatwood.

And as the bard's story unfolds, a fantasy and treacherous world of swords and magic, gods and dragons, evil gods and pollution, demons and abysses unfolds before us.

Occasionally, Annan felt that the world was not so safe. For example, a rat tide flooded a certain city in the south, a cultist sacrificed a certain coastal town, green skins occupied a certain country, and a demon tide captured a certain pass.

"Annan."

Mr. Fast's call made Annan wake up from the story. He pushed a glass of juice to Annan and pointed to the dark corner of the tavern: "Give this glass of wine to the lady in the corner."

Annan glanced at the figure sitting alone in the dark: "Mr. Fast, my lingua franca is not very good..."

Even this sentence is the one he speaks most fluently.

"It's okay, you can solve most of the problems by saying 'yes'." Mr. Fast patted Annan on the shoulder encouragingly.

Annan took the wine glass and followed the instructions to the wine table.

It was a beautiful lady with a straight nose and three-dimensional facial features. She was wearing a rose red flower dress, with wavy fluffy long hair. The white arms on the chest and the calf under the skirt were shining with hazy luster. It has an aura that is incompatible with this dilapidated tavern.

When Annan put down his wine glass and was about to leave, the lady suddenly asked, "I haven't seen you before."

"Yes."

"Aren't you from here?"

"Yes."

Annan felt that she was talking too much, and the lady felt that he was a little boring: "Can't you say anything other than this sentence?"

"Yes."

At this moment, the lady who was lacking in interest looked at Annan with great interest, brushed through the broken hair like the night, and paused on the unnaturally gray face: "Boy, haven't you experienced the fun of a man?"

Annan subconsciously felt that something was wrong, and turned to look at the counter.

Mr. Fast looked this way encouragingly and nodded.

"Yes……"

"Then are you interested in 'fixing' me?"

"Yes……?"

After understanding this sentence, Annan realized that he was being molested, and returned to the counter a little shyly.

Evelyn took a gouging look at the boss who was watching the show, but Mr. Fast didn't care, and raised his glass to gesture to the lady who seemed to be familiar with him.

"Why can you chat with the female guests for so long, when I pass by, they just tell me to go away..." Martin complained and moved closer.

"Why do you think Mr. Fast hired me?" Annan replied.

Martin's expression became very strange at this time, um... definitely not what he thought. But Annan's lingua franca was insufficient for complex explanations.

It's getting late at night, the wine lady has left, and the guests now need to enjoy some quiet time.Fast made a gesture to the bard. The latter ended the story he was telling and played the lute in his arms.

Mr. Fast returned to the back to rest, and Martin, who succeeded him, came to the wooden post, stood guard with one eye and sentry with the other, staring at every corner of the tavern.

"how did you do it?"

Annan looked in amazement at the wise Martin with his left eye on the left and his right eye on the right.

"Why do you think Mr. Fast hired me?"

At midnight, the last two guests in the tavern supported each other and swayed away. Evelyn flipped the sign on the tavern door to closed.

Not a bad day at work, even lucky enough to get an untouched pumpkin pie.

Back at Aunt Susan's house, the lights in the bedrooms of Aunt Susan and Uncle Hollin didn't go out until they came back.

Martin climbed into bed.Soon there was a snore.

Annan took off his coat and put it beside the bed. With a longing for the magical world, he fell asleep contentedly and fully.

He dreamed that in a vast void, four halos of light were floating in front of his eyes.

The green halo exudes life and kindness; the purple halo exudes fiery emotion and joy; the red halo exudes bravery and tenacity; the blue halo exudes wisdom and integrity.

Four balls of light surround Annan, spreading beauty. But a pure black halo suddenly appeared, dispelling the four light spheres, and suddenly emitting a golden light——Annan woke up from the sun shining on his cheeks.
